True, but I still can’t see us either paying that or bettering that offer now. Can you?

Considering Wimbledon rejected £600k+ from us for Currie in January, I would be very surprised if he were to join us now as the fee would presumably surpass that figure. Put Elijah Morrison’s development into the mix, who can play anywhere down the left or as a 10, and it’s highly unlikely IMO.

Sorry, Rog. The toddler woke me up at 4.23am. I’m still waiting for the caffeine to kick in now! Of course I meant buffoons, sure you got the gist ?? -

The Lansdowns are always on a different page, look where that’s got us on the pitch in the last two decades? Two arrogant, ignorant buffons when it comes to football IMO. -

Bournemouth snapped him up last I heard. -
Not sure that’s a good thing when we can’t bat.

Definitely a positive season, with the cup run and the emergence of academy boys being particular highlights, and we are upwardly mobile. We all know that young players bring inconsistencies. As they get more experience, they need to cut out the individual errors to become more consistent. I genuinely feel we are three or four good signings away from a play-off push next season. A big summer in the transfer market awaits.

Sunderland, Bolton, Stockport, Notts County.

Martin Scott, Darren Barnard, Jim Brennan, Mickey Bell, Joe Bryan, Cam Pring - we’ve certainly been blessed at LB in the last 30 years. The complete opposite to the other side of defence!

I can see them winning the play-offs as well. Clarke, Diallo and Roberts are quality at this level IMO.

Well, if he played like he has done today, he would probably still be here. Fact of the matter is he’s likely to be on the losing side today and is playing for a team that’s bloody lucky to have stayed up. -

Most sub-editors bit the bullet around 5-10 years ago and I know for a fact the BL sports desk doesn’t have a sub. Sad times, as this latest lazy example shows. -
I’d like to think that after not including a sell-on in the sale of Andy Cole to Newcastle 30 years ago, every sale of a player under 26 has a sell-on clause in the deal. Once bitten, twice shy.
-
The devil is in the detail . I’d imagine we have a hefty sell-on (40%?) and maybe even a buy-back clause.

Bell’s running/fitness stats are said to set the standard, so that might explain why he’s had more opportunities. But, for me, Bell has to bulk up over the summer and not get bullied so easily. I’ve long suspected he doesn’t have that bit of dog in him that Conway does. As for Mehmeti, he also has a big summer ahead of him. I agree with @Davefevs that he will be ahead of Bell for the LF role come August, but I suspect he’ll be more central next term.

I see it slightly differently, mate. I could easily see Bryan slotting in ahead of Pring with Mehmeti and Weimann battling for the 10 slot in a 4-2-3-1. Plus, he offers cover in CM, LB and LWB if we switch to a system with wing-backs. Either way, would be a good addition IMO. -
A lot of sense in there, but to describe SOD as a failure is a bit harsh IMO when he and Burt laid the foundations for Cotts’ “monumental success”. Our training ground is something to grateful for, but nowhere near the best in the land. See Man City or Leicester for best in class.

Whose decision was it to hand Ashton the reins when we’d just had a double-winning season? Who refused to sanction deals for Maguire and Gayle at that time? Who signed off all those cheques during the scattergun years of LJ and Ashton? Poor player recruitment starts at the very top. As he’s keen to remind us all, he makes the decisions so why he can’t take responsibility for them is beyond me.

That’s what I thought, too. I thought it was pretty arrogant of him to absolve himself and his cronies for getting us up shit creek in the first place.

If his wage demands fit within our structure, it’s a no brainer for me. Another senior pro with the club at heart to help the young ‘uns come through. At 29/30 years old, he has plenty to offer too IMO. Let’s hope @Bcfcshagsis on the money again. Can’t see us brining in Currie as well though, unless Pring is off which would be a gutter. -
Exactly. Bookies don’t write off teams; punters’ cash does.

Thanks. So, on paper, worth £2m in your opinion? I wonder where he’s being brought in to strengthen and if this spells the end for Wilson
