  1. Fortunately, I hope, he has less to prove to Lee J than he would have had to Cotterill.
  2. I'm not envious or resentful of the fact that they have sold out to a wealthy owner: it's the way of the world nowadays, and frankly if they hadn't found their sugar daddy then they would likely have struggled on the edge of existence for years. And, whilst I don't want to see them above us, I like the fact that Bristol is one of the few two club City's in the country. What gets me is the hypocrisy of (some ) of the blue few. For years we've had the jibes about the 'moneybags' club, and yet overnight they have some serial c**k waving over who has the most money. For years it's been unfair on poor old plucky underdogs that some clubs have been able to buy their way to success. And overnight those same people are revelling in how much they are going to be able to spend to reach the dizzy heights of......well, above us anyway. And for years we've heard about their being a proper local club, family run by local people keeping them true to their soul....and now they are owned by a Chelsea fan and Chaired by a failed Swansea man...and loving it.
  3. Strange.....the Gasbuster has been on here for years without any problems.
  4. Like the fact that on the local news this takes second billing to a dog walker finding a foot in a Bath park!
  5. Pre match on the big screen is a WBA cup game couple of years ago. Great hat trick from a player called Simon Cox. Now that's the sort of player we should be looking to sign.....
  6. I was there so I'll comment. If he really thought we were the better team he's either kidding himself or he's deluded. Or he thought we were the team playing in red and white. We had a bright first 5 minutes, but from there on in we were increasingly second best, and by the second half we were so poor Rotherham didn't really have to play. FFS we lost 3-0. You don't lose 3-0 if you're the better side.
  7. Don't even joke about it! Currently stuck on the outskirts of Woking! Counting the minutes!
  8. Thanks EMB. That picture sums up Swindon today, and as they say a picture speaks a thousand words. I'm surprised. I remember Terry Cooper as our manager, and of all the managers I've known at City, I always felt he was the most gracious in defeat, and the most gracious in victory. It clearly hasn't rubbed off on his son. Or, if it has, Mark hasn't communicated it to his players. That is a disgrace, for a professional footballer. And the antics of their no 2 at the end was also a disgrace, akin to Billy Sharp a few years back. And some of the last ones out of the ground will have seen their players coming out to "warm down" and running straight up to the away end to give the remaining City fans a bit more. The plus is that picture on the dressing room wall for the home game will surely assure us of 3 points at the Gate!
  9. Well I'm 58 and I've seen us in the top division! Where were you in the 70s?!
  10. My point is that an apology has to sound genuine to be meaningful. That one doesn't, to me. It's a long justification of the decision, with a coupe of muttered 'sorry's'. Headlining it "an apology to fans" would have helped.
  11. Is that an apology? It's even called a "clarification". As an apology it makes Maria Miller look contrite and remorseful!
  12. Awful decision. How to alienate your customers in one easy lesson, by BCFC. The reason may be sound enough: it gives both sides an extra day to recover. But they could have worked that out last July.
  13. I did. This place makes Shrewsbury look like the hub of the universe!
  14. Must be the most remote ground in the league! Nothing but fields as far as I can see!
  15. I'm not going to get into the mud slinging, name calling, cock measuring or any other of the more competitive elements of this thread - but this one puzzles me - serious question. I'm assuming you're right Nick - I haven't got the time to check in detail! But if that's the case, and if we're that much better now (I think you said 55% on another thread) then how come the other much quoted fact recently, namely that at the end of SOD's reign we were two points from safety, -3 GD and on the same number of games as all our rivals, and now we are two points from safety, -8 GD, and all our rivals have games in hand on us. We are evidently in a worse position, table wise. I can't believe that the one game where we dint have either as a manager can make that much difference! So, how come we are doing 55% better on results, but in a worse position in the table??
  16. Arsene Wenger?! Robbo, I think you and I disagree fundamentally about SOD, and probably always will, but you're dead right about the constant SC v SOD thing. It's divisive, and it's completely pointless because at the end if the day no-one will ever know what would have happened if Sean had stayed, and we'll never know what would have happened if Steve had been able to start this season with the sort of clear out that Sean had. There's still room for comment and for views on SOD (and that's where you and I will differ), for comments on SC (which tend to differ depending if we've won!) and on the board (where I think you and I have more in common, at least as far as the constant churn of managers and lack of a coherent plan is concerned). But what's really pointless is playing one against the other. "....well at least he's not as bad as the other...", " I like a therefore b must be bad." stuff. They're different people, and they have different strengths, and neither is all good or all bad. Clearly Sean was uncomfortable facing the media in a way Steve isn't. Sean got the best out if JET in a way Steve hasn't. And so on.
