  1. Mmmmm I'm no apologist for China, but a) what makes bats or rats any worse than pigs or chickens or pheasants, other than culture, and b) I'm not sure that any British person is in a position to criticise any other country over the exploitation of countries across the African or Indian sub continents.
  2. Yep, bang in the middle of Lombardy, where the worst outbreak has been and where the lockdown has been in place for a week or two. I can only assume they test players and impose some kind of control on their movements??
  3. To be honest, it started more around the self isolation thing - there just seems to be suggestions that a) the players might self-isolate for 14 days, and b) we wouldn't know until next week whether the game was on or not and I was saying that if they were going into isolation then they'd need to do that pretty much straight away (as you said) Anyway, all good - although I suspect there are plenty more unforeseen surprises coming along the next few weeks.
  4. Yeah, I know. And the Forest players knew that yesterday. So they isolate (or as it now transpires, get tested) yesterday. All I was saying was that we wouldn't have to wait until the middle of next week to know whether our game there was going to get called off.
  5. According to a tweet, copied onto the Forest fans forum (which Id accept is hardly the most reliable source!!) the Forest players have been tested and results expected today. As I say, not reliable, but would make sense.
  6. I think if you missed out the first five, then they probably would! Not sure why though....
  7. Sorry, I wasn't clear. I said no point is self isolating days after the contact. Of course isolate after the contact, but what I meant was that if you know you've had contact, you need to begin your isolation straight away, not wait til the middle of next week! I'm just hoping we'll know about our game at Forest sooner rather than later. The Forest players, if they need to self isolate, will need to do so soon, so we should know today hopefully.
  8. As I've posted on another thread, the World Health Organisation say that the disease is called Coronavirus disease (Covid 19). Agree with you about China, although it's not like that hospital was never used. Their response, isolation, quarantine and resources to treat lots of people, managed the outbreak to the much better place it is now. In Italy, people are not working as normal. I know seven adult age Italians, in the North East and in Rome. Two are students and their universities are closed, one can study at home, the other not. One is a teacher and is giving on line lessons by Skype, and the school is closed completely. One is an engineer and one in advertising, and both are working solely from home. Only the shop owner is still going to work. And more generally, all reastaurants, bars etc close at 6pm, most other forms of entertainment closed completely. So, people may still be working, but very far from 'normally' https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/technical-guidance/naming-the-coronavirus-disease-(covid-2019)-and-the-virus-that-causes-it
  9. Not according to the World Health Organisation. https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/technical-guidance/naming-the-coronavirus-disease-(covid-2019)-and-the-virus-that-causes-it Covid 19 is the disease. Also known as 'coronavirus disease' The virus is severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 So, the disease (covid 19) is new. The virus is related to other respiratory viruses (SARS particularly) but is different.
  10. If they need to self isolate then surely they'd have done so by now - and Forest's next match would already be off. There's little point self isolating days after the contact? We don't know the detail, of course. Maybe he shook hands and had drinks with the Arsenal players, but just popped his head round the changing room door at Forest?
  11. Time for the three word soundbite. 'Beat the virus', or some such. And if that fails, blame immigrants/claimants/the EU - that usually works...
  12. Not just the 24/7 media - the traditional media are just as bad: have you seen the Express headline today? 'Shops to ration food' - is there anything more likely to cause panic buying?
  13. A hint, perhaps, towards a ground share with Forest Green? ?
  14. On an evening when Points West feature the gas Supporters Club Chair being banned from the boardroom, how can we allow this thread to drop off page 1?
  15. And there's the chance to win a Rovers shirt!!
  16. The silly thing is, last time I saw plans, that not having the crossing means that the station ends up the other side of that road from where cars will park to use the station. So, to avoid the risks associated with a railway crossing you create the risks associated with pedestrians crossing a busy road. I don't have stats, but I'd hazard a guess which is more dangerous.
  17. Not even the deluded sags would have been considering Lee as a potential appointment.
  18. I recall a couple of years ago that there were several people (including some on here) who began a boycott and swore they'd never set foot in AG while Johnson remained in charge. I wonder where they are now? what I do find slightly odd about this is that Coughlan has got the gas into 4th place and his departure would be a disaster (translate as funny for many City fans) yet everywhere else on here our own managers got us to 4th (six days ago) and there are people wanting him to go.
  19. When Crawley were in the same league as us. May have even been that memorable season when we played them in the league on the same (final) day that the gas were at home to Mansfield .............
  20. Awww - sad thing is that we don't have to wish bad luck on them - they manage it perfectly well themselves.
