I think it was Notts County who didn`t win at Wycombe on a Thursday that got us up. It all felt a bit flat TBH.

Yes I think you're right about Notts County but it was Reading not Wycombe. I don't think Wycombe were even a League Club at that point. It's coming back to me now, the scorer was Scott Taylor of Reading. Should be more famous at AG as the player who got us promoted but never played for us, in the same way that Colin Daniel is celebrated as the player who relegated Rovers to Non League.

Despite being at Twerton for "that game", the Brighton final remains my most depressing experience as a City fan (& to be fair, its had a lot or challengers over the years!).

The thing about "that game" was that we still had a game or two that to get the win that guaranteed promotion, so although it was painful, it wasn't the end of the world. In the end we were promoted by a result elsewhere (Reading v ???) on a day we weren't even playing. So the only thing that Rovers actually got over us from that game was the Div 3 title, which I really wasn't bothered about at the time. Promotion was 99% of the prize. I mean who really cares how many 3rd tier titles you've won....

The Brighton game was far worse because it was actually the end and promotion was gone.

Are there any other clubs who, on finishing top of the division and getting promoted, have lower attendances in the division above ? Presumably because they weren't winning as often.

    1990 Champions of division 3 - 6,202

    1991 Division 2 - 5,929

    1992 Division 2 - 5,850

    1993 Division 2 Relegated  - 5,745

    Tin pot bunch of cretins.

To be fair to them (for once) that was the 'Trumpton' era and there may have been some sort of crowd restriction applied after the season they went up? Capacity was about 6000 and this was very soon after Hillsborough.

    Genuine question.

Has there ever been an instance where a club has upgraded their stadium, built a new stand and the attendances have dropped off the back of ?

Not only that, they reckoned the new stand would automatically add a couple of thousand to the gate, just by the fact of being there.

" the best team in the div" Manning, being given a fright by the team we smashed; how exactly does that work?

Well it has to be said it was Plymouth reserves that we smashed first half. Inexplicably Schumacher made 7 changes IIRC.

Fair play to Terry Cooper for bringing him in. Gutted when he left us for Hearts

Err... I think you meant Joe Jordan? Neither TC or Bob Taylor left us for Hearts.

    Currently 100/1 to go down...

As so many people on here think we are danger it's a good chance to make some money...

No kidding it was 150/1 Friday night, the odds can change very quickly. Unless you're a regular, the maximum bet they'd allow at those odds is probably £10, so you're never going to get a life-changing amount of money.

I wouldn't say we are certainly safe at this point, lose the next 3 league games, which is possible and we'll certainly be looking over our shoulders. For me there's an air of complacency over the place with these signings for next season.

I still think Leeds will hunt them down eventually this season. Bigger, better squad, more intimidating ground/support and every club will have a losing wobble at some point, Leeds have already had theirs (start of season).

Some people scoffed when I said this and I must admit that I thought it would take longer than 6/7 weeks, but they've well and truly been reeled in by Leeds and Southampton. Will still make the Play-Offs at least barring a total collapse but you wouldn't fancy them against Leeds or Southampton.

So you reckon QPR, 6 wins from 29 games are going to make up a 13 point gap & vastly inferior goal difference in their last 17 games?

Or Sheffield Wednesday? 15 points behind & an even worse goal difference?

Rotherham? 19 points behind & a worse goal difference still?

Want a £100 bet on it? Huddersfield (11 points behind, also a worse goal difference than us) won’t catch us, either.

    Behave.

You're almost certainly correct but stranger things have happened in football.

150/1 at the bookies for relegation, so £100 would cost you £15,000 but I very much doubt bookies would allow the bet, prob max stake of £10 or £20.

However its fair to say at least one of the bottom 4 will put a run of 3 or 4 consecutive wins together between now and the end of the season, probably when one of them appoints Warnock! The good news is that he can't manage two teams....

    I see they've re-signed Christian Doidge today.

Could be a decent signing at L2 if he avoids the curse of the returning player. Also he was apparently behind returning from injury Adam Le Fondre in the pecking order at Hibs.

My big takeaway from that is Adam Le Fondre is still playing!

That is not a witness statement, I hope that the barrister didn't charge them!

It's simply a whine dressed up as something formal.

Good God! 363 pages of whining!!! that's a herculean effort but it can be summarised as:-

"Always the victim, it's never their fault..."

One question re: Man City, if they can go back 10 years or whatever for their breaches, does that open the door for more retrospective charges. e.g. Leicester, Bournemouth, Villa?

We’re going to be busy at the end of May! FA Cup final on Sat 25 May and the Play Off Final on Sun 26 May!

Those are actually the dates but it's an odd bit of scheduling!! The FA must be assuming that no team could get to the FA Cup final and the Championship play-off final. While it's highly unlikely, it's certainly not impossible that say Leeds, Leicester or Southampton could get to both with a favourable run of cup draws. I mean Leicester won the FA Cup recently.
