I think you missed the point Esmond.

There are a huge number of Rovers fans who are bitter about our reds and they wear blue.

It is a similar story on Merseyside!

Not many reds on Merseyside!  Oslo and Asia, maybe.

Try to calm down, maybe post some stuff about city?

It's amply serene my end you strange little sag but it would be, laughter is proven to benefit well-being and your club keeps me fully supplied in that.

    What's today's headline going to be? ............

No, I think I was wrong, I think I mis-read your post, that's why I edited mine! I mean, we finished above them in 2013/14 and above them last season....so you are right? I just read your post to mean that we haven't finished in a position below them for 21 years when we did in 2014?!

    Perhaps I'm just confused!

    Apologies chief...

    Ah man, just to clarify.....

I mistakenly claimed that despite their progress "for quite some while now" (they finished 10th in the third flight), we haven't done as badly as that for 21 years (since 1996) when we finished 13th in the third flight.

I was wrong as we in fact came 12th in the third flight in 13/14 (so two places lower than them last season).

    Bed time me thinks!

Hi mate, totally with you and agree with just about all your points regarding the joke outfit north of the river....but let's leave 'getting facts incorrect' to that lot....

We finished 12th in league one in 2013/14.....they finished 10th in league one last season....so we haven't out-performed them every season for the last 21....but we have for just about every other season for as long as I can remember!

Ah damn, you're right.  It was when Cotterill came in to save us from SOD.  I completely overlooked that, I was thinking all the way back to 1996!

I hope their biassed and delusional psyche isn't contagious.  I'll have to go and get my head checked if so.

I get the fun factor, rovers fans had a lot of laughs during your epic losing run last season, its just the scale and volume of postings from this forum that is plain weird to me.

I understand the relegation to the conference created a huge piss take but for quite a while now the rovers team have progressed .

Thanks for the interest though its much appreciated

You seem to have miscomprehended my point.

Yes you being below us for 17 years and counting is easy ridicule for us but what compounds it immeasurably is the almost daily nonsense your supporters spout.

    It's non-stop.

Today's #gaslogic: Rovers win a friendly = Rovers coming for Bristol City

Your lot clearly do not want to be taken seriously and with that in mind there is nothing weird about the scale and volume of our piss-taking here.  It is directly proportional to your relentless stupidity.

Incidentally, your team's progression for "quite a while now" has still only got you a position that we've out-achieved every season for the last 21 years.

So well done for that, good progress made.

It was a full strength or very strong west brom team, but it was only a friendly of course

You posted some hilarious rant claiming we are obsessed with you.

I offer you exhibit A below.

This is a typical example of what we've labelled #gaslogic

#gaslogic is a rationale that is so ridiculous that only a bitter, blinkered sag could ever use it.

The hilarity of it to less twisted people has proved impossible to suppress.

I shall say it once again, try to really focus on the words so that they sink in this time: this thread exists not because we are obsessed with you but because you are the gift that keeps on giving.  Stop doing and saying ridiculous things and the comedic material will dry up.  This thread will then die.

Yes, I think there's no doubt that had the squatters got their grubby mits on our land they'd have managed to squander it, leaving it for ruin, before roving off in search of their next victims to ravage.

437 pages and counting,a massive thread about my club bristol rovers!

What a funny backhanded compliment that is,with no equivalent on the gaschat rovers forum and when i quickly looked on forums of other local rivals like liverpool/everton i simply couldnt find anything quite like this.

" only one team in bristol"   except we like to talk non stop everyday about bristol rovers and we read their forum and quote it word for word on here almost as if there were in fact 2 teams in bristol, weird!!

Some post about rovers virtually everyday on here it seems?

Maybe its the relegation haunted faces you clearly see on you city fans faces  as you prepare for yet another battle against the drop despite spending god only knows how much money on under performing players or perhaps its the spectre of bristol rovers amazing progress under darrell clarke that has brought this rovers obsessed forum to produce this strange thread?

Not sure, you tell me but its hilarious so please keep on posting and thanks for the interest in my wonderful club.

Think their game against Bath City may be off as I drove past the ground at 5.30 expecting to see the roads gridlocked, thousands in the car park, horses being attacked, local women being assaulted and the GHS headbutting my windscreen but alas not a pikey in sight.

Maybe they've got a tunnel there as well?

I assume FGR won yesterday's game as there is no "Official FGR v Bristol Rovers" thread. Instead one complaining about treatment of fans and another complaining about the catering.

However, gasp, shock, horror, the 2nd post on page 5 of the "Vegan Rovers" thread is a post calling for debate rather than abuse! http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/10284/vegan-rovers-gas?page=5

First time I've been on here for a few days and it's just the same kind of School play ground crap that was on here last time.I used to use this forum because I could find out things about our club that I probably couldn't from the official club website and there were interesting debates that I felt I could get involved in but those days seem to be gone now.Shame. To have a proper debate you have to argue your case against opinions you don't agree with but there are many on here that simply hurl abuse at anyone with alternative opinions. All opinions however unpalatable should be heard and argued with or against to make the forum work properly in my view.

They still haven't poached the head North Korean media guy then?

A 12-0 victory with 140,000 locked out could've been the truth then.

They've had to resort to alternative facts and fake news as usual, the poor lambs, for they shall not know the truth and the truth shall not set them free.

  12. Which one one of you lot wrote this, then....?

"I am constantly blown away by some of the comments on here.

After over 3 decades of supporting rovers i feel these are the best of times.

The short termism of some of my fellow supporters is very frustrating.

It seems so apparent to me that the evolution is happening, our manager has a clear direction for the footballing side of the club - a 5 year contract, the quality of staff on recent interviews, the structuring of a philosophy that will run through all the age groups is all evidence of foundations being laid for success. The training ground purchase and proposals support the sensible direction our club is being taken on under the stewardship of an eminently sensible and likeable owner. I'm sure a stadium (of some sort) will come to pass or all the rest will prove pointless.

The bigger picture is great as far as I'm concerned. Sit back and enjoy is my philosophy. There will be mistakes made, bad decisions and sh** days BUT relative to the last 30 years i have more faith than ever. I'm sure DC and Wael have it in hand. I think rather than the hope i have always has i now have belief.

And in terms of the transfer activity, i think the time to judge is 1st September. I'm impressed with the 4 so far (on paper) and have no doubt there will be more in the next few weeks.

    FTG"

    .......................

I really do not know what to believe: has that come from a genuine gas head or has that come from one of us taking the piss?

    Happy days, either way,

Well babber. A few City mates of mine have been up to the Memorial Stadium over the last couple of seasons on free booze corporate events, and have reported back that the standard is shocking.

Maybe I'll have to get some jabs and see for myself?

However, as you say, things can change very quickly, last season at one stage could have turned out to have gone horrendously wrong.

But, over 6000 days later, you are still in our shadow. That is very slow change, and may it long continue.

    Up The City

I can well remember noticing the difference in the standard of the game the last time we were relegated to League 1.  It seemed dull in comparison to the Championship and it wasn't just due to being a SOD team, our opponents were little more entertaining generally.

Obviously the following season we walked it but again, our opponents were largely boring fare.

So R*vers finishing 10th in league 1 suggests they were pretty uninspiring.

However, all things are relative and they have spent years subjecting themselves to dog shit in the bottom half of League 2 and non-league so I guess the dizzy heights they have found themselves in does represent "a really good side to watch" for them.

I'm not sure every neutral would agree, though.

    2) they refer to SL/us as tax dodgers. Wael to my knowledge pays no tax in the UK just like SL. They are also now owned by a company based in Guernsey exactly like we are (wonder where they got the idea?) for tax purposes.

Basically in terms of ownership their set-up is now exactly the same as ours.  Their desire for new training faciltiies/stadium etc is all so that, guess what, they can be just like us.

This business of SL the tax dodger; he's pumped over £100M into a community asset.  What is tax?  The collective pool of money that is in part, used to play for community assets (parks, land marks and the like).

He is wealthy enough to have more say in where his 'tax' goes but he's contributed more to the community financially than I suspect most of the benefactors of the club (us) have put together.  He's not exactly completely avoiding giving back, he's just been a bit smart in the way it's been channelled.  Somehow I can't see the chancellor of the exchequer willing to give City anything, this way we get quite a bit.

I appreciate it's a slightly dubious defence of him but the point remains he is contributing more than any of his critics are by a very large margin.

As for critics from R*vers, they make up crap as they please so of course they are going to use SL's legally legitimate financial strategy against him.

And yet our chairman receives more criticism from some quarters on here than Wael of fortune ever does.

In a reversed kind of way, over the years that has been considered a strength of our fan base by some.

We're harder to please and have higher expectations.

I'm convinced that a part of R*vers problem is their mentality.  They pride themselves on non-achievements and intangibles.  The famous blue and white quarters, the most loyal fans in the world, Ricky Lambert, traditionally being the self-proclaimed family club, the fact them gert shit heads critisise their own club and they don't.........

There should be a balance of course but an expression of dissatisfaction and trying to hold the custodians of the club to account is not necessarily a bad thing.  I wish there was more of it on match day, like there used to be.

OK, which of you has been posting on there? http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/10141/trust-wael

Its the best policy for genuine rovers fans.
Trust him to deliver the top 6 budget promised.
Trust him to develope the training ground.
Trust him to secure UWE if its in the best interests of the football club or start from scratch on an alternative project.
We will have a good idea of the playing budget by september 1st and the other projects in the reasonably near future so at the moment the only real option is trust.
The tweets of the peterbro chairman have given us all an incite into the difficulties of the transfer market and its such a short period until we know whats going to happen on these big issues in my view.
So it might be corny but im going down the trust in wael route and hope others feel the same?
