  1. Legal normalities re violence go out of the window in a sporting context, otherwise boxers would all be inside wouldn't they? That rules the elbowing example out. Not sure why Duncan Ferguson was charged for head butting, mind.

Think most people want justice to sum it up, though.

  2. If plod had pulled out the water canons from minute 1 an abliterated the problem, it would not have been appreciated even as a bystander. It would have probably even esculated things. In Brazil, plod would not have ****** about and people know that, but this England.

It was made clear that cctv is in operation and if you're guilty you will be prosecuted. Even if that's taken a couple months, and woken people up at 6am, I see it as an effective policy.

For the safety of 'carried away kids', who ran onto some grass, it worked too.

  3. Would like to see the cctv evidence before judging and am not prepared to cast yhe first moralistic stone re violence.

However, read a piece on how the public dictates policy.

I would rather not the police spray an baton, which wsd there unwarranted policy at.the rugby groung in 07..

I would rather this way, but yellow t shirt man s

  4. You should read some of the crap being spouted on their forum. This situation may come to nothing but they are so in denial and desperate to try and deflect their frustrations.......

    I quote.....

"I find it hard to believe that this was started by local Horfield Nimbys or due to the incompetence of BCC. Sainsbury's and other supermarket chains build their stores all the time without too many problems. This is hardly a new build in an historic controversial area.

Far more likely in my opinion that this has been started by people with a vested interest in seeing our club lose their new stadium, and we can all imagine who those people might be. I'm seeing Red about this."

    Unquote

So building on a war memorial is not an "historic, controversial area"???

We have our own stadium issues to deal with and they seriously think SL or city related people are behind this!

I, for one, hope it is City behind it.

So R*vers fans openly and actively attempt to highjack City's desired move and that is all fair game of which they are proud. Then with no claims from us or a shred of evidence you have outrage from people like you've quoted.

What is it with these dillussional, self-pitying hypocrites? Also, self-profiteering from areas of extreme, iconic value such as war memorials built in honour of Bristol's sacrificed is in every way wrong but try explaining this to the dillussional blue few. It will be them, happily condoning such actions and you with a bollocking about attempting to take moral high ground.

Un-#####-ing believable this lot, honestly. They're as a shitty little football club as their supporter base deserves, long may it continue!

  5. Now there's hardly anything I like better than getting into chin-wags with random strangers. Out of all of them the Old Boys you meet who faught in the War are my favorate, they're always a little overwhelmed by my enthusiasm and gratitude.

There's a line from the Old Boy in Football factory ''We didn't go to war for this''..... breaks my ##### heart.

Obviously this is only one day and there's no way we can all personally thank each and every person who have put their life on the line for our *'freedom', as Winston Churchill said after WWII ''Never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few'' but what I think we should take from it is to try and make the most of our lives in freedom and get over our petty personal conflicts that are commonly based upon difference and misunderstanding.

    Sermon over.

*'Freedom' used in the most common understanding of the word as this is an inappropriate place for a Philosophical essay or a rant against Political Correctness.

  6. I hate to be bah-humbug and realise that most teams that get promotion = fans on the pitch. But I really would have loved to see Gary and the players celebrating...as it was seeing all the fans was great n'all but I wanted to see the boys and how much it meant to them. I would have loved to see them all celebrating.

Last time we got promoted I'll never forget the lap of honour they did, us fans didn't see it this time and I do feel quite annoyed about that.

I don't know how the club could stop it though and my partner supports Man City and last time they got promoted not one person ran on the pitch...ditto Sunderland today and probably many other teams. I don't want to sound like a square stop all the fun kinda person, because I'm not, I just love my boys and wanted to feel part of the celebrations without having to run on the pitch. Just had to say my piece, whatever happens I'm over the moon about promotion...

    What you saying, Chief?

I saw Orr and McCoome celebrating better than ever I would from some artificicially enduced authority controlled 'lap of honour'.

Mate, the ginger tos*er talks of '76 patronisingly with his bizarre egotistically designed mind games. I will never forget the energy generated by the swarm of The People onto th pitch yesterday. I very much doubt Bradley will either.

  7. Personally invading the pitch no longer appeals to me like it once did. Maybe thats to do with maturity. I didn't need to be on the pitch to enjoy the celebrations.

To be honest nothing will ever beat the feelings of reaching the old First Division on that night in 1976. That memory wil stay with me for ever.

Official confirmation of your old fartness if ever it was needed.

Do you enjoy having the pi*s ripped out off you or is it just something you've come to expect after a life time of it what with being ginger?

I'm glad you enjoyed '76. Why though do you attempt to undermine those of '07 with your patronising and predictably tw*tlike comment?

    You really are a pr*ck.
