    I was at the game the following season,in Division 1 when it was the middle of winter, snow called off virtually every other football league match except WBA v City. We came up with the idea of using the brand new pimple soled boots, specially designed for icy conditions, and slipped and slided to a heavy defeat. Seem to recall loads of Man U fans at the game, as their game locally had been called off late on.

    Yes, my abiding memory is , like most TV shows, how a 30 minute programme took about 4 hours to film.

    Being an aquaintance of a City director at the time, I can confirm that the board felt exactly the same way.

    That doesnt explain the relative success of Norwich, Swansea, Bournemouth etc who are all pretty much out in the sticks. I don't think location makes one jot of difference to a player joining. Money on offer is the only thing these guys take into account.
