  1. Sad news, poor John. Fond memories of him playing for us. My best wishes to him and his family.
  2. Thanks MJP3, always interesting to look at player stats. Regarding work rate, back in the day, I used to judge that on how dirty their kit (particularly shorts - they were white then) was after 90 mins. The occasional appearance of blood was also deemed a sign of a job well done.
  3. Thanks Ivor. I'll make sure to add that to my stats scrapbook. By the way, they've also got Diddy, whilst we have Downsey. That says enough in itself.
  4. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery Nige. Hope to see you back soon, in the meantime, take it easy.
  5. To be honest Fordy, I wouldn't be surprised to see the club announce that Nige will be on extended sick leave, pending a decision on his future, and in the meantime Curtis Fleming will oversee first team affairs. Simply that.
  6. I'm very proud to be Bristolian and of the city. There's only one team in Bristol. So.......
  7. Get well soon Nige is the most important thing at the moment. Whatever the outcome.
  8. Welcome your worst nightmare Mr Warnock.
  9. That's fair enough Cyril. A lost dressing room would be a very pivotal point. It's an awful time to be a City fan.
  10. That's exactly it Dave. The bottom line is that due to financial knots the club has got itself tied in, only time (and i don't think that a few seasons is over stating the case) will allow expensive contracts to expire, players to be moved out, and therefore wiggle room for a squad rebuild made available. FFP doesn't help of course. Long gone are the days when SL could have literally bought us into the top flight ( I daresay that a lot of people thought that's what he was going to do, which is understandable given his financial clout). The club needs to get much more savvy in it's recruitment if we are to move forward. None of that changes whoever holds the very poisoned chalice that is the Manager's / Head Coach's job. This is a very dark period for the club indeed, but it's made it's own mess. Utterly heart breaking.
  11. Their generation seems to be doing quite well in the Premier League.
  12. What they do on the training ground, what they're told, doesn't mean that they've listened, or have the ability to deliver. Late goals are clearly an issue, and one which I'm sure will have been addressed on more than one occasion.
  13. And some of us still do. "Let's get out there today and show the gaffer what we're made of". And they duly obliged. Change the Manager if you like (which none of us can). You can't polish a turd. Personally, if it were up to me, which it's not, I'd stick most of players in our squad on ebay this very evening.
  14. Let's hope we're pleasantly surprised with today's performance and result, even though I think most folk are not too hopeful. ? COYR!!
  15. As a spectator, nothing beats a thunderous, but fair challenge, where both players get straight back up, give one another a look, and then get on with the game. That's good sporting action.
  16. Just clear it up Dave, and we can all move on.
  17. Get well soon Nige!! I bet the dugout divas aren't feeling so pleased with themselves now.....
  18. If you were a Halesowen Town fan, you'd have to be prowed.
  19. Southampton have had a great scouting policy in general, over the years, and the channel islands have been a success story for them on several occasions. I paid a visit to them some years ago now, as part of a piece of academic work that I was doing about the scouting and development of young players, and was very impressed with their approach to things. At the time they had several youngsters from our neck of the woods on their books.
  20. As said before, we need a squad transplant not new blood in the Manager's office. Please stick with NP and back him as fully as you can in the transfer windows to come. The recent past needs to be taken as a harsh lesson in the retention and recruitment of players, and the club moves forward into another era. We all want success for Bristol City Football Club, whatever our own opinions on how we might achieve it. COYR!!! OTIB
