  1. Both depressing videos, and both confirm what has been suggested on here - Nige wasn't happy to toe the party line, and adapt enough.

Not read through all the responses, so it may have been said elsewhere, but what is worrying is the bit about youngsters coming through and will continue coming through. In other words, don't expect much transfer activity.

As good as some of the youngsters are, even with a fully fit squad we are not good enough for promotion currently.

If we now bring in a new coach who doesn't get promotion, then surely we'll be looking for a new one again in the Summer. That's basically the stall they're setting out isn't it?

We hope we can find banks or other financial institutions who can finance this because it will hopefully increase the revenue. All of this is to sustain the club and increase the revenue and keep the sport budget as high as possible. It is very important to get our stadium done well,"

Spot on. The imbeciles won't see it like that though.

First sensible thing you’ve said all day.

Surely if you’re the owner of this club, you look around and see the dearth of talent available and think actually we’ve got a decent manager already.

A few years ago I would be optimistic and think/assume that this would be the case. Now, I'm not too sure about it.

With the amount of dross available out there, as a supporter you just have to hope that the owners have seen sense and have something really big up their sleeves.

I really do fear that we may end up with another LJ situation in the respect that the purse strings will be loosened but with the wrong person in charge. We'll then need another Pearson type appointment to sort out the mess created......

  4. So chief exec leaves, head coach leaves along with 2 of the coaches, whilst the club is "openly" on the market - is something imminent and the "potential" owners want their own man/men in charge?

To be honest I'm surprised but not surprised at the same time. Pearson has done wonders whilst having his hands tied behind his back in a way, especially after seeing next to nothing from any of the sales over the past 18 months or so, blooding the youngsters and getting us more solid, if not spectacular, but there is only so much you can do with the injuries we've had!

This is all very Bristol City, and I'm half expecting an announcement saying that Fleming/King will be in charge for the foreseeable in the hope that we can get some points on the board and making it "very difficult to change a winning team". Other words- cheap option.

Robins wouldn't surprise me as he's been linked a few times and Lansdown likes him, but I don't see us paying for anybody compensation so fully expect a lacklustre appointment.

Unless something is imminent - whether that's a sale of the club or a new guy in charge soon - this seems like a very bad move which could have dire consequences for us.

    I really hope I'm wrong.

I just hope it ain’t Cotts (although would always want to see him in work….just not there!)

Working (and soon be living) in Colchester now, and apparently the he's quite high up on the wanted list there.

Know where I'd go if I had my choice...

If I was a betting man I think I'd put a cheeky bet on Paul Cook or Lule Garrard.

But how are Sam Allardyce, Chris Hughton and Neil Lennon on that list.

Early on after the sacking, if I was to go and put a few quid on Nige being the next boss he'd probably appear on the list as well.

What does make me laugh is how Skeletor makes it onto the list (again) despite being out of work since 2020 according to that list!

It's a shame he's gone, was doing a great job. What you can be assured of though, is that Wally hasn't a clue and will probably announce the tea lady as the next manager.

  7. Ouch!!

Part of Busst's issue was the number of infections he had following the operations IIRC. Regardless of infections or not, that was in all likelihood always going to be the end of his career though, was a truly nasty collision.

That's a career ending injury at the best of times, so at the age of 35, that's definitely going to be the last time we'll see Basham on a pitch. You just hope that he doesn't have to endure the trauma and issues that Busst had back in the 90's.

    Good luck in the recovery.

Got a lot of Josh Brownhill about him, which is a very good thing.

Ah Brownhill, we were never going to miss him were we......

Completely agree @GrahamC, he does seem a very well rounded and influential player, and one that will become integral to the way that we play.

The Brownhill comparison is a good one actually, because he just made the midfield tick over. It amazes me  that even to this day, there are so many that didn't, and still don't rate him. Think people have the opinion that because he didn't pop in with goals every few games that he "went missing", when in actual fact it couldn't be further from the truth.

If Knight turns out to be 80% of the player that Brownhill was, then we have a hell of a player on our hands.

But if they’ve done something that is sackable, there is no need to pay-off????

I get the bit about speed though.

Perhaps it was a sackable offence but he was given the option to walk first as it would look better for him?

What a week ! new away kit launched then CEO goes and poor Nige on crutches. I’m sure somebody can make a conspiracy theory out of that. Any takers

Perhaps he put Nige on crutches after Nige had a right pop at him that they didn’t stock an away shirt in his size ??  Phil said he knew nothing about it so Nige called him a f@@@@@g Ostrich and Phil decked him !! Far more likely than the BS that we’ll be told I expect !

Sounds good to me @Baldyman :laughcont:

In all seriousness, does anybody know if something is happening at Palace? Hasn't he left there and gone back before?

Certainly seems a bit suspect, especially as it happened on Friday and 48 hours on, there is no club statement on this.

What about the influx of fake shirts from China? I wonder if the club has a handle on this?

I don’t know whether these fakes were so widespread under Bristol Sport, and then Hummel. But it seems now that they’re being increasingly worn around AG due to the price difference (£15 vs £50?)

I have to admit I’ve struggled to differentiate the fakes, the only clues have been the badge looks a bit off, and in certain lighting the red is a different shade.

No idea, but there are so many out there from various clubs throughout the world, that I would be amazed if you were ever able to get a grip on it.

The actual sales figures however, directly from someone in the know at the club, are very positive though.

Please find why it’s been delayed. Re think due to splat being on it again . Are the club staying with O’Neil’s ? Must of hit the club financially due to the poor quality & design . Also can you ask if anyone can please take jons crayons off of him. He’s started drawing on the walls again ?

Not done as bad financially as some people may think - and that's come from someone I know who would know!

I went to the Oxford game as we were visiting my family, and actually the number of people in attendance and walking to the ground in a new shirt of some type - whether that be home, splat, or one of the GK variations - was actually a lot more than the number I thought I would see going by the comments on here!

Do I like them - not particularly, although I did have the blue GK shirt brought for me as an early birthday present which is quite nice, although the material and fit isn't great, but my 2 year old who has the home shirt absolutely loves it and wears it as soon as it's washed.

    People are still buying them.

Ground, ground, ground and they forgot about the fax machine.

Have you plugged the fax machine in yet Wally?

    These things take time!

The issue isn't with Wallys fax machine, it's more the fact that in 2023 nobody else is using one anymore so it wouldnt go through!!!

  14. So has this all been confirmed as actually happening?

I would say in no world would a professional club bid for a player whilst more than doubling their own transfer record, fail to complete and send off the paperwork in time for the transfer to be completed - but then I remember who we're talking about!!!

At least nobody will be talking about their incomplete planning permission for the new meccano set for a while.....

This does smell like Wally pulling a stunt to get the gullible few back on side whilst having no intention of ever completing the deal in the first place.....

Full to the brim on loans, again. But the perms they’ve done are very expensive, old, signings. Said before they’re going for broke this season and are probably gonna be in a sticky situation next summer if/when they don’t go up.

Yep, shit or bust I reckon for them.

What are those dhgate ones like? I mean I'm not expecting exceptional quality, but are they decent enough for the price? Also, have had a look on site and most pictures show shirt without manufacturer badge on chest. Do they actually arrive as shown, or do they have the manufacturer on too? Wouldn't want to buy it without, as would definitely look like a cheap knock off.

My little one has a size 3-4 years, and the badge is printed on, not sure if that's because it's a kids one though. Have seen adult ones in the shop with the proper badges.

Andy Cole was just purchased after not an option to buy during loan.

I think Lee Matthews was signed on loan just so he could play that Friday night then competed later.

    Nobody mention Tony Dinn..

I wasn't sure/couldn't remember if that was a loan with an option, or whether we just decided to buy him after/during his loan period. If I'm honest I think I've put everything related to him out of my mind completely.

1 hour ago, Bristol Rob said:

We ended up buying Tomlin after a loan, not sure if that was us exercising an option to do so.

Likewise, Kalas was originally a loan.

Neither had an agreement in place though I don't think, as both were signed a while after their loans had finished IIRC.

Tomlin definitely wasn't, as it took him all summer to bait the gullible fans who were asking him to sign whilst trying to flog his caps or some other type of crap at the time. Probably whilst visiting the nanny ?

They'll loan him then they'll try to bring him back when they think it blows over. Me thinks they are in for a shock.

If it will cost say £8million to pay his contract up, they'll try and recoup some/most of that I would imagine.

To be honest, most supporters, whether Man U or not, would have applauded the club had they just released him - those that aren't from far out regions of the earth at least!!

I would imagine that from a legal point of view, without a guilty verdict it has made it virtually impossible to just outright sack/release him.

Personally, think he's very lucky to be able to walk let alone do anything else.
