    How've you concluded that?

His availability the last couple of seasons has been utterly shite.

Not going into full stats again, search for it on one of the bigger Kalas threads if you want.

Last season though he played 35 games - therefore missed 11 games (exc. Cup games) - hardly shite.

This season, yeah not good, but not a small injury either.

I don't really care what individual opinions are, but 35 games.....

Unfair surely? Yes, last season was a write off, but he made a high level of appearances in the previous four seasons with us (41/24/44/37).

Been pointed out many times, at least 2 or 3 occasions by myself, that he is far from "injury prone".

Facts don't matter for some, it appears that a label has been thrown about, and some have jumped on and gone with that "fact".

Injury prone Wiemann didn't do too badly after signing his new deal whilst returning to full fitness.....

  3. So from his perspective he would like a bit more p/w, but is weighing up the options out there. The club it appears, are firm with the offer and will not break through the new wage barrier (for arguments sake let's say £15k p/w which would fit with the above).

I applaud the club for sticking to this, regardless of who is on the other end of the contract. When you think about how dodgy it looked about 12-18 months ago, that's how it should be moving forward.

I also don't blame Kalas for waiting and weighing up the options. If he signs great, we're really well equipped at the back, and if he doesn't sign, then we're still really well equipped at the back.

Obviously with him wanting to stay in the area, that's going to help his decision. If for example someone in France offered him the same terms or slightly more, then he needs to weigh up if it would benefit him and his partner.

Let's see what happens, but as much as I like Kalas, he isn't irreplaceable.

  4. Bryan would be a great signing, however if it doesn't happen, then it's not the end of the world.

Pring should develop further this season, Mehmeti can play off that side and will hopefully bed in really well after a full pre season, and we have other options and formations that will work with the personel we have.

If Bryan does (re)sign, then it could possibly dictate the main formations and shape we will use, so as far as I see it, the signing has both positives and negatives.

If it happens great, if it doesn't, then it's not the end of the world.

He has only just been released officially. If he wasn't looking at alternatives to us, then some would be criticising him for not being ambitious enough!!

They are saying they want an employee rather than to contract the work out. I mean, of all the thigs you could easily take the piss out of us for, that we want to employ a general maintenance man is an odd thing to go for :)

To be fair with the pieces of crap they've got up there, a general maintenance man would have a field day there. Never be out of work up there!

When are they going to realise that they don't have a pot to piss in?

    That wasn't what Gregor reported.

He reported that the deal was up to around 3m, which was a complete lie that was pushed out by the club in attempt to lower expectation.

The deal, as originally reported by GFFN, was up to around 8m.

Gregor didn't know shit. I was as in the know as he was, and I live in Essex ?

Think I’d just kip in the car

I'd probably just hit the snooze button, roll over and go back to sleep.

Not worth getting dressed to go to work if you're the Watford manager surely - be out of work before you get there!

  8. Well Nige did have him at Leicester.....

Attitude problems, along with someone else wasn't it? Lingard is a strange player, because one minute he can look world class, and the next just an ass. Pretty sure that at one point he was being heavily criticised whilst at Man Utd because he seemed to be more interested in his social media and tik tok than anything else.

He will get another decent contract in the Premiership, but it won't be at any of the top 8 or so clubs.

No, I see him heading back to France. No ITK just how I see it.  As you say a chance taken that doesn’t seem to have worked out. Although he can’t be any mug to be in the France u21s.

Where is the latest squad? Tried 2 sites, 1 states there are 5 keepers, and the other 3 keepers.

Agree, there is definitely something there for him to be named in the u21 squad, but is he likely to get any game time, especially if he's not playing at the moment?

Also agree with you @Davefevs, wouldn't be at all surprised if he goes back to France for an undisclosed fee in the summer. On the other hand though, the loan could purely have been to get him some playing time after the injury, whilst not causing us any immediate harm for our own league position.

It does seem to have the markings of a gamble that hasn't worked though, especially if the loan was supposed to give him some first team minutes.

  10. No it's not a suggestion before anybody starts, but having been released by Man Utd after playing a handful of games in the past few years, it's no surprise he hasn't had a new offer.

Injuries have plagued him big time, as when fit he was a very decent defender, and probably would have had quite a few more international appearances.

In some respect it wouldn't surprise me if he retired, as I don't see that many clubs would be willing to offer him a decent contract, but it will be interesting to see what happens next for him.

How about a squad of crocks that were destined for big things that ultimately didn't achieve them because of injuries - who would you have?

Phil Jones to get you started.

  11. Wow, not sure I saw that coming!

Bad time in his career, could really have kicked on and started to push himself into the England starting 11, and/or got himself a big move.

Players have had lengthy bans before and came back just as good as before (Cantona, Ferdinand immediately spring to mind), but the timing is not good for Toney, or Brentford.

FA taking a firm stance on it though, and rightly so.

    Are they though?

Is Kane Wilson not a passenger? What chance has he been given after joining off the back of a POTY season in L2?

Well considering he was out for a large part of the season with an injury, understandably not a lot.

He didn't play any part at the end of the season as he wasn't needed, and we weren't playing for anything.

After having players return, too early in some cases, and then get a recurrence and/or something else because they're not up to speed, it made absolutely no sense in even risking Wilson with the season end around the corner. Correct decision in not risking him completely.

People already writing him off (not in this case, but it has been said) need to remember Szmodics. Was bombed back out and now playing the best football of his career to date with Blackburn.

He hasn't been written off, nor is he a passenger. His first season here has been a write off because of the injury and rehabilitation. Nothing more, nothing less.

The longest and most severe ban given out in many years. No shock there.

If you scream at officials every game and also blame them for every loss in your post match, it’s gona come back to bite you at some point.

Shame though, they'll probably do better with him not there...

I think his ego is too big not too! ?

Ordinarily I'd agree with you, however he knows what a monumental cockup he made here, and is well aware that a lot of people (staff, board, supporters) were onto him before he left. The extent of the mess he left behind, has been made clear since he foxtrot oscared out of here.

Portman Road, yeah he'll be there, may be low-key, but he'll be there. Ashton Gate, not so sure about that.

Listening to that Ashton segment back again is as riveting as it is nauseating.

GT had him sussed and knew exactly the questions to ask, the first one being, “what’s the logic of sacking your head coach and appointing one of his assistants?”. Straight in!

If anyone had any doubts on how much we have moved on in the last couple of years listen to this.

I hope MA gets the welcome he deserves next season.

    He won't make the trip.

But it wouldn't be the first time someone builds something assuming they will get approval at a later date only to be advised it had to be removed

    Genuine question

How many rows are there in the Atyeo stand?

Can't remember, but I had a season ticket in row J, and there was 1 row between that one and the railings.

Assuming that that's the half way point, then around 22 rows.

It's a lot more rows on top of the mystical row m put it that way!!
