  1. I find the “response” worse than the actual phrase - though I’ll caveat that with the assumption that it was an honest mistake. Because their’s not a hint of remorse or even awareness of how offensive that wording is.

But to essentially say “well it wasn’t meant to be public” is a terrible response.  Just own it.  It was a mistake, and say “we’ll ensure staff will get training on inclusive language”

  2. Some of those goals were a disgrace. But then it’s fair to say the effort matched those of the hierarchy in trying to be competitive, so ultimately the club has got what it deserved.

Ultimately a massive opportunity wasted to at least try and cement a place at the top table in a growing market.

I do wonder if the losses of playing at AG in the Championship will outstrip what it would have cost to bring in a couple of players.

If that went pop that’s not ideal for Stevie boys pipe dream?

I do wonder if that arena will see the light of day in all honesty.

  4. They playing the same way element across the age groups is something we were crowing about as far back as under LJ.

This is not a fresh approach.  Unless it was binned off and has been re-established.

  5. Unfortunately we’re in a world where the “brand” is more important than the talent in some key areas.

I don’t think it’s by accident that the WSL will be wholly filled by clubs attached to men’s premier league teams.

I feel this club is cursed at times!

It does feel like a monkeys paw curse.

Yep. Had his eye on him for 18 months apparently.
But of course, Holden was the clear choice 🤣

Holden was an act of self harm.  Just why?  I’d love to one day get an honest assessment of how they made that choice.

This again. Do you honestly think this was ever likely? (even under Pearson). If you've ever felt that "top 6" was an over ambitious (or idiotic) comment from Jon, you can't really use failing to get into the playoffs as a stick to beat Manning with.

By all means critique the playing style, interviews, pathway blocking etc, but the top 6 argument is tiresome and weak.

It’s the argument they made though no?

As it was, pre Scot sale I had play offs as an outside bet, but not likely.  That went when he wasn’t replaced.  To come out and even mention it as a target was dopey.

I don’t think anyone’s hammering Manning over it, the hierarchy though, now that’s different story.

Piers O'Conor leaving for Connacht in the summer.

No great surprise, he was excellent in the season we finished top but struggled to recapture that form since and has fallen out of favour in the last few months.

He was a hell of a signing. Loved watching him when he was on form.

At the very end he talks about - getting ourselves in the best position so we can push when the times right.

Does anybody know what that means?

It’s a nonsense, though handily intangible bar though isn’t it.

    FFS, just heard the snippet

Jon - “I want them to understand what we are trying to achieve and how, so that we aren’t setting expectations too high”

“Promotion is the aim this season”

”best squad we’ve had at this level”

It’s just so hard to take it seriously when it can be pulled apart so easily 🤣🤣🤣

“Not a good start Boris Jon”

What do you expect them to say? The timings aren't published yet so it would only be a guesstimate. As previously stated our fanbase appear to be more informed than others on the subject and although we can only speculate on what might happen I suspect the  vast majority of our fans who were going to renew, did so knowing and in spite of the potential scheduling issues.

    I’d expect nothing.

As for “our fan based is more informed…” is the sort of thing I’d expect a sag to come out with.

Ffs wonder how many people who just shelled out for a season ticket know about this?!

I thought it was more than a little naughty that there was no mention of it in the season ticket media- which I would imagine is true for all the EFL clubs.

Absolutely top point. And the issue is that the clubs have absolutely no issue with this continual shift in the importance of ticket revenue to broadcast revenue.

Most recently this has come up in relation to the FA Cup replay scrapping. An Arsenal official said to me"...my understanding was that any financial impact [of scrapping replays] would be minimal, and most likely offset by higher distributions from broadcast rights..." I've had this echoed from other clubs, EFL included.

It's an attitude that pervades the game right now, and in the long run it's going to negatively impact stadium facilities, ticket price matrices, and other services offered to local, club-in-the-blood fans.

That’s nothing new though, in terms of thinking.

Id argue a look at the stadiums in Italy gives a look at where things end up with your final point.

We don’t know the whole story so can only trust Mannings judgment.  We certainly shouldn’t be sympathetic just because he’s made a few sacrifices to come here on loan.   That being said, I would rather he’s not even put on the bench and it’s given to one of the lads from our own academy.

He’s robbed a spot sure, but was probably worth the gamble.

I think he knew he couldn't carry on due to health issues. I recall in one of his last interviews he said he just needed a quick op and would be in and out of hospital in "48 hours". That was disingenuous, I believe, and he knew the situation was much more serious.

He spent a week in hospital having tests in Nov/Dec and we know that as of early Jan he still couldn't walk.

For a fact, he would have had to take more time off from the job to get treated. Whatever anyone says, that is a less than ideal situation for the club, and frankly not good for Nige.

He won't see it this way, but ultimately the club may have done him a favour so that he could fully concentrate on getting better.

Seems he's still not 100% fit so I've no idea how or why people think he'd have been able to see the full season out here.

While yes, it doesn’t excuse the lack of honesty and integrity.
