    Thanks Tom,

I think everyone on here should read this before posting anymore crap, conspiracy theories, or personal agendas.

    Thoughtful and well written piece.

Right, we are talking 2 different points.

My response about Parachute payments were just that, nothing to do with where we are as a club. IMO the payments skew the competition for the reasons I gave.

53% pass completion is appalling at any level of football, but it's just another symptom of the struggles we have had for 2/3 years. After that short spell of high press, short sharp passing we have gradually drifted, gone longer and took the easy option too often.
To shake that off and play more football, to control the ball better will take a change in mindset, more bravery in possession and more coaching of possession football. I would have wanted to see more already, but after a few signs we have slid back lately. I hope it was a lot to do with nerves and yesterday helps that. I think it runs deeper though.

Yesterday’s pass rate was appalling but it had a lot to do with lack of movement off the ball. There were no options for the player on the ball. At times (many times) our midfielders were absolutely isolated from one another and thus had to hit hopeful balls. There were no triangles; whether that has to do with nerves or simply not wanting the ball, it means we couldn’t get it down and play. Throw ins were exactly the same: no movement, no one wanting the ball. Benarous has been criticised but I didn’t see him being given options. After one bit of shielding the ball out, HNM went over and praised him. Some of the older players could learn from that.

I had quite a few conversations online with Jay over the summer, very amiable and helpful guy.

He was trying to explain how you can shove video in front of a football person, but don’t try and tell them tactically why a goal happened, they know that. however, If you can present trends, eg. Here are 4/5 similar occasions or here’s the data that backs up what you see in the video etc, then the football people become interested.

He’s been a trailblazer for a whole group of fanalysts getting jobs in pro football recently.

Was he involved in signing Elijah Adebayo? Guy had loan spells with Swindon and Cheltenham, has a 1 goal in 2 game ratio this season and looks a real handful. Just the kind of player our recruitment team should have spotted.

Unfortunately the Atyeo has excellent acoustics - hence the away fans making so much noise.

Don’t remember it being very good back in the day when there was City in there. I even remember people complaining because of the way the roof sloped.

OK, just gone in from the game and my immediate thoughts.

City looked too ponderous in their build up play on the right side.

Possibly because if the weather, the ref let play continue when others may have stopped the game for an infringement.

During that down pour in the 2nd half I feared the Ref would abandon the game.

Must watch the goals on TV later as on the bus coming home, all the P'boro' fans assured me there was a definite handball involved in City's winner.

Well you’re a cheery chappie, aren’t you?  If those are your immediate thoughts when we win, God help your bus driver when we lose.

Anyone remember Maxims half way up Park St on the right, DJ had his decks in a white grand piano if I remember correctly.

Think I saw the Cortinas there. Deffo saw them in a club on Park Street anyway.

anyone remember Chutes?  Near the Colston Hall.

That's very good news. They relaxed restrictions 10 days or so ago successfully and today opened all shops. With Boris going ahead with relaxing restrictions from Monday it seems we are following the German route. Fully expect our Football to be given go ahead as well and more widespread restrictions lifted on Monday May 18th. We are getting there.

Ah but it’s the Germans. They might be able to make it work but our bunch of profiteering scumbags will only have their eyes on the Yankee dollar. If fans, players and officials get sick, they won’t be bothered as long as the Sky moolah rolls into their and the marquee players’ pockets.
Hope it all implodes so we can start football again with a level playing field, salary caps throughout and a ban on foreign corrupt investment.

  8. Just got back and so haven’t read whole thread but can’t agree with Redstreet and the doom merchants. Agreed we struggled second half at times but it was extremely hot. In my view, Webster looks the real deal if you want someone who doesn’t just hoof it. Tactical change quite interesting and the set pieces have been Southgated!! We were busy in midfield but playing two wingers was a bit optimistic. Bryan off the pace but otherwise we were ok.
