  1. I like to think that I can learn something everyday, I don't close my mind off to many things. This thread has been a piss take yes, but for me has been an education about law, courts, business etc. Yes it happens to be about our lesser neighbours but could apply to any business, but as it has been about them I've taken an interest and people have answered the dumb questions I've asked with good grace, thank you. It's your right not to be interested about them, but we really have tried to put all the threads in this one and people have posted in here too. Basically it's easy to avoid if you don't want to read or contribute, just don't click on it!
  2. So has there got to be a winner here or could there be a compromise where both sides get to save face? I'm thinking to get this far, go through this court case, and that all avenues of mediation and negotiation have been explored, so winner takes all?
  3. Don't believe that for a moment. You just wanted the excuse to tell everyone you employ a gardener, posh git!
  4. In the past if they wanted to bury a bit of bad news or take back some limelight from us if we had good news they would spout out plans for a move or stadium redevelopment...they can hardly do that right now can they!
  5. Thanks for your replies everybody. Seems there are lots of twist and turns yet. All I know is that I wouldn't like to be a Gas fan right now, the highs of a promotion at Wembley must be a distant memory compared to their immediate future.
  6. Thankyou. I was wondering if the court decision was going to be made before the start of the season as if the season started and they lost how long would it be before they collapsed and what would happen to all the points the other teams took off them. I haven't heard any mumbles about them not being allowed to start the season
  7. Is there any realistic danger of the Gas not being able to fulfill their fixtures this coming season? Or is the court case with appeals going to rumble on for years and they can carry on trading? When do the Wonga type people want their money back or are they happy to let it be dragged out as interest on the loan stacking up all the time? I know there are pages and pages on here but I haven't always kept up with things or fully realise what's going on. What I need is a Dummies Guide to Football Clubs in the Poo type thing
  8. I haven't read the article to be fair, hate the Evil post pop up ridden site, but I get the gist of it from what's been said. My first thoughts is that Higgs wants to distance himself, he's losing too much money and just as importantly doesn't want his name involved in what could be a huge, messy court case outcome. Business suicide for him. So if they don't want to asset strip,( what assets?) could it perhaps be another way of some smaller club ( does this American have any links) trying to get league status, ala MK Dons?
  9. Say for one moment that is happening and that is a true figure. I think money like that will be their downfall. Yes they can pay their legal bills but if there is anything much left after paying other bills/loans etc it won't be enough to move. So they are stuck at the Mem. People will be calling for redevelopment. Their facilities are appalling, a couple of million will be easily swallowed up with nothing to show for in an ageing stadium like that, it was about to be bulldozed don't forget. Will other clubs now be raising their prices for players if the Gas get some money, course they will. What about their current players and staff, I guess they were all on a bonus for getting promotion they might be looking for a bit more too, maybe not in their pay packet as they will be contracted but maybe better hotels away, training facilities etc. They have always had money through transfers in the past, but always frittered it away, more so than us. I think the same will happen and the fans will get restless. It's one thing being down on our luck in the Conference but another being monied in League Two.
  10. Just got back from London, walked across the centre and what do a hear...Fricking Goodnight Irene being belted out by a group of pished up Gasheads...are they really still celebrating their monumental achievement.
  11. BBC news have just said at least 4 confirmed arrests, maybe more. I guess they are being cautious as they are powerful people. FIFA holding a press conference at 10am (uk time)
  12. BBC radio news still only saying 6 and have only named one, a bloke from the Cayman Islands.
  13. I unfortunately found myself at Lawrence Hill about 2 minutes before the buses were due to pass, dreaded the traffic backlog. I need not have worried as I saw maybe 15 Gasheads waiting, they had a Barton Hill banner or something. Even that was too much blue and white in one place for me. Embarrassing.
  14. My first reaction was wtf too, but when I saw it again I took it to mean the support, he quoted 30,000, not the club's league position. He did say though 'give the club 10 or 15 years and it would be great again', which to be honest I found even more funny.
  15. If we had won today and drawn instead of won against either Donny, Orient or Yeovil no one would have questioned anything.
  16. The commentators were talking about Pack on the radio after the match. They were saying something like Cotterill didn't pick him for the Yeovil match on Boxing Day, something about telling him that as Yeovil had quick running midfielders it wasn't a suitable game for him, if I heard right? They then went on to say Pack has worked hard making Cotterill notice him by improving his game. They also stressed that Freeman is getting noticed a lot and getting credit now he is adding goals to his game, but this is only possible as Pack playing allows him to do so. I think most of us are aware of this but it's nice to hear it said anyway.
  17. It was a very different feeling to the interview I thought. A definite sway to belief, more 'we can' rather than calm down/we might. He seemed hugely relieved and surprised about the haul of points taken lately. 3 away games all wins, don't think as much as he wanted that to happen he had planned for such a positive outcome. He said the players are all great lads, he is proud and hope the fans are too. He seems to be able to manage them really well. He said the Saturday/Tues is tough, feels like you are always travelling or together.
  18. Cotterill sounds really proud. It sounds like he is really believing too, at last he is allowing himself to admit something special is happening. Very proud of the players he says.
  19. I just saw this. Not sure why the bad feeling towards us? And also I thought it was the rule you had to water the pitch equally?
  20. At least in the 2nd half we showed a bit of fight, with a bit more I think we could have got a point. It sounded from the radio that Cotterill spent most of his time shouting for them to get the ball up there, he shouldn't have to tell them that though so I don't know why they couldn't. I guess Colchester are scrapping for points too, they did a job on us so you got to accept that. Once they were 3 up they only had to park the bus and you can't blame them. A point away today and again at Doncaster was the minimum ask, now it's 3 Tuesday. It's still on due to other results. I'd rather be in our position than any other team.
  21. The onus was for Gillingham to attack us and they had a good go without us ever really getting out of second gear. All we had to do was mop up and soak up the pressure having done a decent job up at their place. We looked like we were playing on the back of a hard game on Sunday, which we were. The football was poles apart. Don't want to be too critical but even with just a couple of changes we did look so much weaker. I was concerned about Matt Smith in his first two games but that didn't turn out too badly, so I'd like to say how concerned I am about Tavernier. Mark Little need not be concerned though.
  22. Got to feel for Scunnie yes, but got to win the game and offer sympathy after. We did nothing wrong in those challenges
  23. My daughter is there and saying the same, twice she has texted to say he is noticeably awful. What a shame but I think his time is done here.
  24. Taking us out of the equation, it's very poor coverage for Telford. Chester assistant manager being interviewed on side of pitch at Barnsley just now, they should have the same. I can only guess there is a problem with equipment but bbc haven't apologised have they?
