  1. He’s 31. It’s nothing to do with his age, he’s had a lot of injuries in his career. Personally I accept he’s a 35 games a season player, but he’s criminally underrated by some. I actually recall one certain poster describing him as “mediocre” absolutely clueless.
  2. James is some player, that pass for Weimann’s header first half was sublime. So important to us, we’re a far better side when he’s available to play.
  3. Harsh I know but King having to come on for Taylor-Clarke after 20 minutes made a big difference. Suddenly we looked like we had the same number of players as them, King isn’t eye catching but does the simple stuff very well.
  4. Massive win for the Janners, 1-1 with 5 minutes to go & they’re down to third, 2 goals later & they’re top again, game in hand on Wednesday, too.
  5. 2 wins in 26, they were top in October, it is a collapse that makes our form in the pandemic season look ok.
  6. Looks that way. Wigan & Blackpool have gone. Shame in a way, because I’d like Cardiff, Reading & Huddersfield (because of Warnock) to all get relegated.
  7. Just thought I’d resurrect this. I thought he was excellent second half, chased everything down, gave us an out ball & won a decent amount in the air. We are running on low numbers & he certainly proved his value today.
  8. “Apparently”, where did you read that? He actually played for his club side, which was in contravention of the terms of the transfer. Unusual for you to get the facts completely wrong.
  9. Bell hasn’t played full back this season, that was last season. Weimann has admitted himself the WSM formation really suited him, but he’s the only one of those 3 that’s left now, so has had to adapt to different team mates. I still think he has a part to play but don’t think he’s ever going to get near to last season’s incredible stats.
  10. Well they need to fit in all those that they pretend went to Wembley… If this happens (plenty of water needs to pass under the bridge first) I reckon we are looking at a stadium that is 15,000 tops. For them that would be ideal, a slightly bigger version of Rotherham’s ground.
  11. As has been posted already I guess the answer to that is how much would they realise by selling the land in Horfield for housing. I have no idea but seeing as prices in Bristol are high (falling recently though) I’d say a fair bit. As an aside this looks like a reason they wouldn’t proceed with that “stand” they were allegedly going to have in place for the new season, I expect?
  12. Where is their “heartland” these days? Lockleaze? Fishponds? Genuinely have no idea. Certainly isn’t anywhere near the fruit market, as you say that’s Totterdown, they won’t have too many fans south of the river.
  13. Spot on. I’m not debating with that idiot (I have him on ignore anyway) but on deadline day for instance a fair few (not me) knew that Mehmeti had signed a long time before it was announced & the Cornick deal wasn’t immediately publicised when he had, specifically because Luton wanted to secure his replacement (Taylor from Peterborough) without them hiking the price up. No point in us debating this though, he’ll just go into “fingers in his ears” mode & repeat the same point ad nauseam.
  14. Also worth pointing out we are now just over a year away from the end of the Mayoral model in Bristol. After this time (& post the new Council elections in May ‘24) everything will be done via a committee system. Whatever you think of the current incumbent it is unarguable that the new system will slow decision making down, and that’s before you get to the high probability of a Green majority council in the city, too. The development of what was originally proposed to be the arena & surrounding area has just started but although they can try to portray this as environmentally friendly due to its proximity to the railway station, there is a lot of work to be done before they even get to a starting point here, no matter how excited their friends in the media might be at present.
  15. “A drop in budgeted attendances” in a promotion season? Though one that was only actually achieved after hammering Scunthorpe’s youth team. Something doesn’t add up here, either their support is worse than they expect & we are consistently told by their friends in the media or they are telling us they lost more money simply because they went up, or both. Interesting footnote about the “new” stand too, “no indication” they have yet sought planning permission.. 4 months to go now until the new season starts, so the clock is ticking on this fantasy structure..
  16. I don’t watch enough Prem football to comment on how players are playing for their clubs, but Webster has only started 18 league games for Brighton this season, it was just 16 last, he’s perceived as a bit injury prone or at least his availability has to be managed. I think the ship has sailed for him on a chance for England, just like it has for another big money move.
  17. Anyway, how’s permission for that new stand coming along?
  18. He’s his Dad, so I reckon he would, but point taken.
  19. My take on that view is I really doubt Nigel Pearson really gives a flying **** what they think but the recipients, be that Sam Bell, Josh Low or indeed Cornick, do. They’re morons.
  20. Only if you’re not really stupid. There used to be a bloke sat a few rows behind me in the Dolman who kept shouting “forward” every time we defended a set piece. Not “keep your shape” or “press the ball” but he simply wanted everyone to run out as if it was cubs football. I got so fed up with it I turned around & said “listen to Arsene Wenger” the last time, it could be coincidence but he doesn’t sit there anymore. There are some absolute ******* idiots, mind.
  21. Indirectly he got mine too, because it was us finally getting a penalty.
