At the end of November Manning said the news about Benarous was “not good” since when there has been no update. If you think he’s returning this season (possibly at all) you’re far more optimistic than me. I’ve discounted him. This is true, but what is also the case is in our last 10 meetings Preston has only won one (1-0 with a penalty after a dive). 6 of those games have been draws so your prediction looks a safe bet but this myth (by others, not you) that they are some sort of bogey side isn’t borne out by this. You’re right. Think it is also highly likely some very honest conversations have taken place between him & Manning too. We both believe the contract extension was triggered a while back but if he knows that he’s going to be a bit part player no matter what then frankly he might as well be that much nearer to home. He cost us the same fee as Gustav Engvall, made well over 200 appearances for us & scored 51 goals. He totally deserves to pick the moment to move on & based on the way he responded to his ACL injury, I won’t be surprised if he still manages to come up with some valuable contributions for the Baggies. I’m a huge fan (always am of anyone who consistently gives of their best) & wish him nothing but success.

Maybe because he’s a fantastic professional? Hard working, versatile, unselfish. I can’t see him being a regular starter there myself (think they have players at AFCON, so useful squad option) but as others have pointed out the family home is near & I reckon Corberan probably knows more about football than you or me.

Always appeared the case if you listened to what their new owner said about the “development”. Said at the same time that the Thatchers end would be “safe standing” it is already standing, so genuinely no idea what that “improvement” will be there. Like the Meccano stand it is very close to housing, so their only real possibility of significant change was to demolish the East Stand and replicate a mini Lansdown stand but they clearly can’t afford to do that.
