Was about to post the same thing. Read a week or so ago teams were being quoted £40m, can see why now. Bit off topic but their scorer last week, Gnonto is a 20 year old full Italian international, I’ll be amazed if anyone else in the Championship has ever had a player in the Italy squad.

Certainly didn’t see that coming. Interesting article which also implies Bajic will look to move on this summer. If that was to happen it makes a bit more sense to keep this guy as an experienced number 3, I guess.

Seeing as TGH & Pring are both suspended, Mebude is ineligible, Twine is both cup tied AND injured & Sykes, Atkinson & Naismith (who?) are all out injured, he really doesn’t have a lot of choice. Good chance that several of the substitutes will have featured for the 21s up in the North East yesterday & we still won’t have a full subs bench tomorrow. Not so much squad rotation as “can you bring your boots”.

Transfermarkt is a pretty brilliant source & has him on the bench for their last 3 games in January as an unused substitute before he joined. Otherwise it says he missed 3 games in October/November with a knock but has simply “not been in the squad” otherwise. That certainly suggests of late at least he was fit to play but not selected, rather than any work permit/Brexit stuff.

It’s hopeless. Seeing as Lewis Thomas played for the 21s last night & presumably isn’t doing so for free, it appears that he has, but as you say the communication is non league.

Our recruitment was to permanently sign someone already here, bring in a kid with virtually no senior experience from Belgium & sign someone & immediately loan them back. I’m agnostic on Manning but this is chalk & cheese. Also arguable that Dewsnip is far better at his job than Tinnion.

Nope Noggers, definitely Bob. Right at the end of the 88/89 season (came a few days after the Hillsborough tragedy), Shutt famously moved to Leeds as a makeweight in the transfer. Shutt once scored all 4 in a win over Fulham, I think.

100%. Francois is 21 yet doesn’t have a squad number, Taylor-Clarke had one last season but doesn’t this. Fairly clear where they both stand.

With the Forest game two days later & numerous 21s likely to be required with TGH, Pring & Mebude all unavailable plus the 4 who are out injured I think it will be a very young team.

I can’t see any value in keeping King, obvious that he’s not getting a coaching gig now Nige has left & whilst his availability to be a sub this year has been useful, he’s 36 next season & we need a better option. Personally I’d keep James even in front of Williams (Weimann has effectively already left) but I’d be amazed if we did.

Swansea? West Brom in the cup? Boro? Bell’s goal at Preston last season was a classic counter attack goal, superb play by Scott & a brilliant cross by Wells. I can’t recall a single goal of his that came from a set piece, second phase of possession maybe. He’s being asked to play wide by Manning so still seems to be adjusting to it. Have to agree to disagree on Mehmeti, don’t see any threat or goal supply at all.

Fair play, you crack one off about finally playing a player you produced twice & him then keeping a clean sheet against the mighty Exeter. Definitely “coming for us”.

Good post & I think a lot of what you say will happen. My hunch is Wells will stick around & see out the last year of his deal though. Think he’s settled here & if Conway goes it will be useful to have an experienced, proven back up to whoever we sign as our main CF. If Knight moves back into a more conventional centre mid role than maybe him, Bird & TGH is enough if we see Murphy as a possible. The lesser spotted Naismith has another year & could play there as well. If one of the midfielders OoC is going to be offered anything it is almost certainly as you said, going to be Williams. Re the keepers I’m pretty sure Wiles-Richards is out of contract & I don’t expect he’ll get another. Impossible to know the thinking on Bajic as through no fault of his own he hasn’t played.

He’s been on the subs bench for the last 6 games, so you would think so.

It does seem bizarre to go into the rest of the season with more loan players than you can actually use. Still apparently their fans were celebrating having a goalkeeper today who is their own player. Weird lot.

Rumour doing the rounds yesterday was they are in significant financial trouble & Jon Dahl Tomasson threatened to resign last week. Be interesting to see how that plays out.

Need to sign some more players, only brought in 24 since the summer..
