  1. Me too. I also think “he was a passenger” stuff is horseshit, (maybe he’s thinking of Dziekanowski?). JET scored 21 goals for us in 13/14, & who knows how many assists for Baldock. We would have been in League Two but for him. In the following season his goals & assists to games ratio was also excellent. Not bad for a “passenger”. He was literally the only reason to watch us under O’Driscoll.
  2. Been on the QPR forum for a while..
  3. Heaven 17 & ABC too. Interested in tomorrow’s line up, if Twine & Sykes are both fit we suddenly have far more options & with Knight, James, Williams & TGH are decently stocked in centre mid too. Tanner definitely deserves to return at RB & Pring hopefully is available too, though won’t be surprised if he’s a sub as he only appears to have started training again yesterday.
  4. The other issue is we’re left with doing the really difficult bit. We need a consistent goal scorer at Championship level & another who will chip in with a fair few & create more. Pretty much since Kodjia incredibly we have tended to produce these players ourselves (Bobby Reid, Semenyo, Scott, arguably Conway & Bell) rather than buy them in, though I’d argue Weimann with 50 goals & numerous assists might be a (much maligned) exception. Everyone is looking for these type of players & many clubs have far more to spend. Our only hope of reaching the top six is getting both of these signings absolutely spot on & both of them then having injury free seasons. Eye of the needle stuff.
  5. With how it has panned out in recent games this season is now a bit of a free hit for him. He can use the time to get used to the league, work on his match fitness & with George Tanner in good form, challenge him for the RB spot. Was told at the time that this was really serious & the risk of infection high, great to see him come out the other side & about 4-6 weeks ahead of schedule too.
  6. Real shame but at least it comes at a time when frankly our season is over. Gives him plenty of time to get himself sorted for pre season though, can’t recall him missing any other significant spell with an injury.
  7. Posts like this are ridiculous. Our player of the season (for me) is Rob Dickie, who plays in the same position as Jones. Zak Vyner has also had another decent season, this is the most consistent, defensively solid (we’ve let in 37 in 33 games, by far outperforming our league position in this metric), central defensive pair we’ve had in quite some while. The original poster is clearly trying to say that we missed out on him, when the reality is he joined Southampton (a Prem club) as a kid & our first choices who play there are arguably his equal. If someone in our division had a Bobby Reid type who was on 14 goals at our level & as a local lad he’d slipped through our net, for a side clearly struggling to score goals then I would totally understand the point. No one does though.
  8. To be fair 8 appearances in a season would be a record high for Liam Walsh..
  9. Pretty sure too that Eliasson was gone well before Pearson arrived?
  10. Good shout! Someone brilliantly said at the time, he must have looked bigger in the catalogue. Must have been the shortest bloke in Denmark.
  11. Ronnie Sinclair? Anyway having watched the highlights the red card for Tommy Backwell was a bit soft but I thought our penalty award was, as well.
  12. Real shame that injuries badly hampered his time with us. He was a real scrapper & certainly had no problem with the physical side of the British game. Always remember that goal at Chesterfield, (I was there) which was completely out of keeping with what was a truly terrible game of football.
  13. Let’s face it, like Chris Martin he’d be a country mile better than the rest of their squad if it happened.
  14. What a film, absolutely brilliant. Frank Sinatra wasn’t only the “voice of the century” boy could he act, too. Angela Lansbury is also incredible in this. Perhaps I should adopt a pseudonym on here, Barry Norman?
  15. Seeing as at least 3 are quoted in this thread that were far more recent, it wasn’t.
  16. Paterson certainly had his critics on here but you’re right, he scored a couple of crackers in the pandemic & was a very clever, technical player decent with both feet. TGH came with this reputation (seemingly based on a single goal at West Brom) but I’ve seen absolutely no evidence of it at all, his goal at home to Boro was excellent but that was in open play. Re scoring from corners my belief is thanks to Rob Dickie we’re probably about average.
  17. Two observations; We might not be a tall side but Rob Dickie is definitely our best CB threat at corners since Aden Flint, fair play to him. After Saturday’s effort I’d rather let Max O’Leary have a shot at goal than let Nahki anywhere near another free kick.
  18. Someone asked me on Saturday & I had no idea. What was the reason Keith Fear wasn’t there? Unwell? Not interested in being invited back? Know he’s still around & lives local, so was a bit of a surprise.
  19. As is clearly evidenced by their regular near 24,000 gates & us struggling to even attract 8000. Oh, it’s the other way around. Fake news.

    Mbude.

Agree, Williams had to come off (he’d already lost his rag with Andersen once & I’m pretty convinced he elbowed him off the ball) & none of us knew the logical replacement TGH was going to be so poor, but the others made no sense. Mehmeti is frustrating but I actually thought he improved after Bell went off & he (eventually) switched to the left. As for those saying it was hindsight I said at the time it was incredibly brave/mad to give Mebude 32 minutes & so it proved.
  21. So does Rob Dickie. No one has as high an opinion of Tony Thorpe as Tony Thorpe does.
  22. Same. I’m Somerset too, but he was an all time great. Very sad, RIP.
  23. Also, I understand the frustration of our performances against the more attritional, physical sides (Preston, Millwall, Birmingham), but QPR were nothing of the sort. Answering the question on how we win today & against those sort of teams is two completely different ones. We were flat today, our substitutions were odd & we lacked penetration. The latter point needs addressing in the summer anyway, our top scorer in the league has 6 & we’ve scored 38 in 33 games. As well as our goalkeeper (sorry Max haters, it’s the case) & 2 centre backs play, we don’t score anywhere near enough goals & that’s been the case under Pearson & Manning.
