  1. Unused sub yesterday as they lost 2-1 at home to Hertha Berlin.
  2. In 14/15 when we were by a country mile the best side in that division, we still lost at Crewe. Every side no matter how good (& we were ******* excellent that season) loses from time to time. Bolton are a good side, far better than those jokers over the river, I fully expect this was a blip & they’ll still be top four. Whoever this fanboy is should be trying to establish why the thug can’t even match Stevenage, not proper clubs like Pompey & Bolton.
  3. “So close to getting the job” that he actually did.
  4. Went to Tare in Cargo on Friday night, it was absolutely outstanding, one of the best places I have ever eaten in Bristol. No wonder it is reservations only & booked well in advance.
  5. What is interesting is that last summer Coventry did exactly what we did, sold 2 of their best players Gyokeres & Hamer for mega money, like we did with Semenyo & Scott. Difference was Coventry’s chairman didn’t give Mark Robins 80p to spend like SL gave Nige, but he got all of it, breaking their transfer record for Haji Wright & paying millions for many of the 11 that he brought in. Part of me thinks therefore why on earth would Robins want to move on, he’s just been given the biggest budget in his managerial career, however the counter argument I suppose is if he doesn’t achieve this season he can’t play the poor Coventry card any more.
  6. Wonder what Derby fans are thinking? Bigger club than us, in League One & couldn’t even beat Cheltenham today. Sheffield Wednesday too, also bigger, got as many points all season as we got at Rotherham in midweek. This Ipswich stuff is pretty selective, absolutely no mention of those sides who are bigger than us & doing far worse. On a similar vein I expect we won’t hear so much about Plymouth overtaking us after their 7th defeat in 10..
  7. Interesting sample size. Includes two away games (the only ones we’ve lost) against 2 teams that were in the Prem last season. Surely not quoted to find the worst possible outcome? Last 7 games? W3 D1 L3, see? Different conclusion & not just ex Prem sides.. 11 games so far W4 D3 L4, that seems the fairest reflection on our form.
  8. Agree, it is hardly the shock result of the season. Far bigger disappointment was not getting something from the Stoke game. With what we have available we have made a decent start, be good to get a few back & have more options but not the disaster certain posters appear to want to claim.
  9. Don’t really follow the Prem but according to the preview of their game with Chelsea today Burnley have 6 missing through injury & despite Prem clubs naming 9 subs he still can’t make their bench. Wasn’t expecting him to be a starter but surely he’s fit enough by now to be involved so if he’s not in their first 26 players he’s a very long way off selection, isn’t he?
  10. Bloke who attacks women, that’s who.
  11. Yes, my wife would be in exactly the same boat. As a result of the GFA everyone in the North has both the right to Irish citizenship & could theoretically choose to play for either side. Loads of Unionists have taken advantage of the passport option..
  12. He is, I’m definitely not responding to some bizarre & frankly disturbing views expressed on this thread but Max has an Irish passport by virtue of his Grandfather being from County Kerry. Under national football eligibility rules you can qualify to play for a nation if any of your parents or grandparents were born there.
  13. Re that last bit, not a chance. Though to be fair when he was on 3 Peeps, it was basically “is there anything you want to tell your grateful subjects?”. This argument boils down to this, a few keyboard warriors are ***** so he shouldn’t engage with the vast majority of our 20,000 crowds who clearly aren’t. Rugby fans are civilised, we’re shaved apes. Basically this argument is another variation on “if SL leaves then we’ll get owners like Sheffield Wednesday have”.
  14. I’d be very surprised. Not comfortable with stupid comments like “fuhrer” but pretty obvious SL neither respects the views of City supporters or is going to engage with us in any meaningful way now. Once we got to the “do you know how much money I put in” stage it was obvious he just expects us to turn up, be grateful & not question him. It’s gone stale under his leadership, he is far more interested in investments like the Sporting Quarter than the first team & we simply need him to sell up. Very lucky that in Pearson he found a manager willing to sort out the mess he inherited & his apparent reluctance to extend his contract just sums up how little he still understands about football.
  15. I like Max & think he’s plenty good enough for us but he’s only in the squad because Kelleher of Liverpool isn’t available. Bazunu of Southampton is the first choice, Travers (who was excellent for Stoke against us last week) on loan from Bournemouth, is also in front of him. It will do him absolutely no harm to train with international players but realistically he’s their 4th choice goalkeeper & I’ll be surprised if he earns many (if any) caps at all.
  16. These sort of interviews are often like this, loads of stuff is made up to make the story appear more interesting. Each to their own but I’m amazed people are remotely bothered what the likes of him or Warnock (another serial liar) have to say about a Championship game from 14 years ago now.
  17. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/5/24/where-is-the-logic-georgia-will-not-sanction-russia-says-pm https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2023/jun/18/georgians-dream-of-eu-membership-as-their-leaders-move-closer-to-putin
  18. Realistically Max is very much the third choice keeper in that squad with very little prospect of being involved. Knight is a first choice, Mark Sykes seems to have been given very few chances by Ireland’s coach, would be great to see him involved at some point & with respect, if he gets pitch time v Gibraltar he has a decent chance of his first international goal.
  19. You’re right Noggers- it didn’t happen.
  20. Asked by @77 punk who it was, can only think of Phil Jevons at Brighton back in the GJ promotion season. Can anyone think of a more recent one?
  21. So in summary, we are just a goalkeeper, centre half, midfielder & striker light then? Definitely see a club that is expecting Pearson to generate £35m & then only spend £7m of it addressing that..
  22. There was a second clear one straight after, Dickie was being blatantly held by Peltier, awful officiating. Have a feeling the ref was the one who bought that dive at Hull last season. Rubbish, inexplicably gave a foul against Bell when their keeper & defender collided, some other very odd decisions that usually went against us, plus of course he’s missed two penalties.
