  1. Me too & if they weren’t being so childish about trying to pretend that these 2 have never played for us I’d be happy to say I get the logic. Martin is a clever footballer, Hunt is a steady full back, both have had very decent careers.
  2. Martin is 35 next month, lives in Bristol & frankly wasn’t knocking back the offers. He has only got a deal until January but no idea as to whether that was their choice or his. Hunt is 33 before the year is out & was in talks with L2 Bradford this summer, if he could have got a better offer then he wouldn’t be there, but he didn’t.
  3. Looked on their official site to see how they announced Chris Martin & just like when they signed Jack Hunt they haven’t mentioned that he previously played for us. Both these players made circa 100 appearances for us, so absolutely pathetic on their part to deliberately ignore this & try & pretend otherwise.
  4. Bet Adrian Mariappa is programming his Sat Nav for BS7. After Jack Hunt & now Chris Martin looks like jailbird Joey is trying to collect as many of Nige’s castoffs as possible.
  5. If anyone ever watches again the interview with Nige in the summer after he took over (the one when we signed James, King & Atkinson) he makes the specific point that he believes then we are “particularly blessed in the goalkeeping department” with Bentley & Max, so to suggest he isn’t a fan really is not based on reality. As you say if someone offered us a Prem goalie for free on wages we could afford I’m sure he wouldn’t say no, but that simply isn’t going to happen. He made it very clear this summer Max is now first choice & an injury aside I can’t see that changing.
  6. He won’t be staying long in Burnley then, you could probably cover it in an hour..
  7. Exactly how I saw it. 2nd goal is really poor from him, first one he probably could have done better, 3rd had no chance.
  8. Sacked their coach today after the loss at St. Pauli last weekend.
  9. So after a poor game v Leicester we’re back to Joe Williams not being worth a place, I see. This is despite him arguably being the equal of Knight & James prior to that. Massengo didn’t want to be here, I doubt he would have signed another contract even if he’d been playing so this is academic. He’s moved on & so have we.
  10. Bit of a tangent but surprised no one has highlighted that young Nelson is on the bench for the first team but doesn’t ever play for the 21s. He’s not injured but I was told there is a specific reason for this. With Zak now injured & Weimann back far more logical to me to have Knight-Lebel on the bench instead as defensive cover but Nige clearly has his own reasons.
  11. True- I’d just add two more points; We look well drilled as a side, I posted after the West Brom game that out of possession we usually have a good shape & presumably Curtis Fleming’s coaching is a big part of that. Secondly I take your point about the absence of McCrorie, Atkinson & now Vyner, but the back four that we fielded at Leicester (Tanner, Dickie, Naismith, Pring) wasn’t exactly shabby, Pearson said recently that the squad was certainly tight in terms of numbers but the difference in quality within it is now much narrower, which is spot on.
  12. Really surprising to see that Mangan & Barton are close associates of lawyers, isn’t it? Wonder if he also represented him when he was found guilty of those betting offences? Reading the transcript this comes down to interpretation of his comments, so hardly the vindication that the jailbird suggests..
  13. Bloody stats. “Not good enough”, apparently..
  14. Just further evidence of how little SL understands about football. When you consider how long he’s been involved with us this is both incredible & depressing.

    Huge gap

It’s because it a cartel. Next season these 3 will have circa £100m in parachute payments to buy the best players at our level. Really excited too to find out if Manchester City win the league or Liverpool (who have spent £500m in Klopp’s time) do. Really competitive stuff. ”Best league in the world”.
  16. Pre season Wade Elliott said they had a bottom 3 budget last season, far smaller than Forest Green (!) & the two other sides with similar ones (Accrington & Morecambe) both got relegated, this season they have the smallest one. As @petehinton said they lost almost all their backroom staff pre season, I’m constantly surprised by posters having absolutely no concept of the circumstances other clubs are operating under, before saying stuff like “their results are shit”. Clueless.
  17. Was talking a few Argyle fans walking out in midweek, they were saying they had realised already that the step up is huge. Both agreed if you haven’t played at this level for 30 years now you simply don’t have a clue as to the brutal, relentless nature of it. If they want to get excited about their occasional League One wins that just sums them up.
  18. Pretty sure recently we have played at least one 15 year old in the 21s, those who watch those games or are “in the know” can supply more details. Elijah Morrison might possibly be the kiddie? Obvious thing to say but this lad has a lot of his life ahead yet, could pick up an injury or have other issues to deal with, but obvious that he’s incredibly highly rated to be playing for a club like this at such a very young age.
  19. Sam Leitch was immense, Bob Wilson, etc too. Haven’t watched it in years, mind you the same applies to Match of the Day & 99% of Premiership football. Since we moved into a world of satellite television I struggle to see the point of it, you can see the goals & interviews with all these people elsewhere.
  20. I wasn’t there (spent the day moving my daughter into Uni so couldn’t even follow it) so thanks for the thoughts of a few posters whose views I respect. I must admit I thought we had about a 10% chance of getting something today (Hull appear to have got the flukey win someone already does against the best side) so a 1-0 defeat to a penalty is about as good as I expected. It is clearly a blow to lose Vyner but we didn’t sign Dickie to have him on the bench, Weimann’s return is a plus & we also have a free week coming up. Interesting that TGH was picked out because as well as our midfield has played I’m still not sure the balance is quite right, especially in terms of scoring goals (doubt anyone expected Matty James to have scored them all so far in the league). Not sure of the timeframe for TC to return but getting him back is important, block of 3 games coming up includes another real tough one in Leeds who seem to have recovered from a ropey start, we should go into the other two with every confidence of a win, though.
  21. There needs to be interest from someone first & the player also has to be willing to leave. This is Football Manager fantasy nonsense. Pretty sure we had the same thing from this poster about Weimann after his 22 goal season, just completely ridiculous.
  22. His league record for us is 30 goals in 94 starts & 54 sub appearances. So even if you’re seriously suggesting he should have scored in every single City game he’s played in (& I remember Holden memorably bringing him with 4 minutes left in the 6-0 defeat at Watford, so good luck with that one, Nakhi) that is still a ratio better than a goal in 5. A reasonable person though would assume that his many sub appearances average out at playing half a game at the very most, so that’s around 1 in 4.
  23. Not always about your ego, you have to be truthful as well. Injured anyway at present (hamstring) but he’s got a lot of ground to make up now.
  24. First game of the season I guess NP must have thought he deserved the start more than Sykes. Who knows? Sykes might not have been 100% fit. Against Birmingham maybe NP wanted a more quicker option than Wells in Bell & also tried Mehmeti & Cornick out wide, the way we played that day I don’t think who would have mattered that much who started, we were really poor all over. I’m struggling to see the issue to be honest, if anything (like today) I think he’s deserved to start more games.
  25. Comes across as a lovely bloke & I’m so pleased for him that he turned his career around. Assume that certain questions were “off limits” but would have liked him to be asked how he dealt with effectively being told that he could leave by Nige a year or so ago. The contrast with Taylor Moore is always the one I come back to, they were in very similar circumstances but the outcome was totally different.
