I don’t think City said the fee is £25M. As I recall, we said he wouldn’t go for less than £25M and if the demand was strong his value would go up. That says to me that we want at least £25M but if there are multiple offers, the highest bid wins.

I doubt any big transfer fees get paid up front do they? Probably all instalments, so a buying club will be looking at cashflow from incoming instalments on sales as well as the deal they can get on the timing of what they pay.

Actually, having listened to it, they acknowledge all that and praise the job he’s done. Then, based purely on personal feelings, they decide he’s a bit dull and won’t progress beyond mid table. In fact they praise virtually every manager and don’t really explain their rankings at all well. There’s a schoolboy enthusiasm about what an unproven youngster like Rosenior might do. And they even put Bulut above NP despite confessing knowing very little about him, and admitting he has no experience outside Turkey. Not as bad as I expected them to be, but not to be taken seriously.
