  1. It will but the value of these things, especially for the Burys of this world, is not large and will be valueless once the club folds.
  2. That's great in its detail. I would however bring in one additional caveat that will stop the crooks being interested in the first place: For any future sales of clubs approval will only be given if no charge or debt is allowed against the ground, whether secured or unsecured, and the ground can only be sold if and when an alternative ground of at least identical quality is in place. Take away the ability to run up debts against the ground and the tap of easy credit is turned off; take away the ability to sell the ground and the asset stripping doesn't work.
  3. I've never said he's better than LJ and certainly didn't want him here but I did think he was a decent manager; maybe Walsall just has a rubbish squad.
  4. Many people have sung the "Does your boyfriend know you're here?" chant at Brighton fans; IMO it's about as homophobic as other fans singing "You're Welsh and you know you are!" at us is racist. That is: not at all. If it was somebody shouting "effing poufs" that would be very different and would betray a hatred (if not an unfounded fear, which is actually what a phobia meant prior to the hijacking of the language). There is a point where you genuinely can say that it is just banter. It's shading it but I would say "Does your boyfriend know you're here?" as a general song is funny whereas "We saw you holding hands" sounds a bit accusatory even if sung in jest. Though who rules on such things? As per the "Championship footballer coming out as gay" thread I would take it as read that most people on OTIB do not dislike people for being gay, so there's absolutely no need to pop up to say that, and that the minority who do would be keeping quiet about it as it's against the rules of the forum.
  5. Transport for London (TfL) said it was up to advertisers to make sure any items featured were "high fat, sugar and salt (HFSS)-compliant". Oh ffs. Though as this is the thread dedicated to all things Rovers I will forebear from further discussion.
  6. That's just what I said. I was moved to look it up on google maps and you can see this area to one side of their main stand and a similar area to the other side. It still looks like a carpark from the air. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Gloucester+Rd,+Bristol/@51.4864127,-2.5830497,171m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x487191e46defc2ab:0xcbd531dfd5134fb1!8m2!3d51.4813096!4d-2.5880194
  7. Very funny picture but seriously where are they standing? It's a slightly sloping area of tarmac with a clear way marking running through it. Is that what passes for terracing at their stadium? It looks like a car park rather than a stand. Maybe it is a car park.
  8. No, he is saying that they each told him, presumably amicably, that he was getting some stick but that he hadn't heard it himself when playing.
  9. Now I see where Rovers obtained their business model! Directors' current accounts are usually debtors, these are creditors. This is the business that takes money off its own directors; and to the tune of £5,000 last year. Truly the economic boom is being fuelled by Henbury's enormous business acumen.
  10. Why would he, he gets to meet Will Smith and it's only costing his family £3m a year? I predicted way upthread that they would do ok this season; because how many other Div 3 clubs are happy to lose £60k a week? They are the big spenders of Div 3; unsustainable barely covers it. Even their thick'eads such as GGMI and Henbury have begun to realise it; it doesn't end well.
  11. But of course it was. Up to about five minutes ago I seriously doubt that any City fan even knew that Coughlan had a daughter. I even don't know If Lee has children; why would you seek out that information? (And I'm not asking because I'm really not interested) http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/14946/coughlan-daughter
  12. And when the sale doesn't happen by 5pm Tuesday, which it won't, it will be midnight Friday again. Is Theresa May running the EFL now she's been sacked as PM?
  13. EFL deadlines are a movable feast; from the BBC website: Bury are waiting to hear if a last-ditch offer to buy the League One club will save them from being expelled from the English Football League. Owner Steve Dale told BBC Radio Manchester he had agreed a deal with analytics company C&N Sporting Risk, led by Henry Newman and Rory Campbell. The EFL said it had been notified of an offer being accepted by Dale. Bury had been given until 23:59 BST on Friday to prove their financial viability. Football Daily special: The day Bury survived? The EFL is now considering an extension to the deadline.
  14. And fake. I mean really who sells cans of fake soft drink?
  15. Fair point. Maybe a visit to the excluisve £250k a year London office or his private box at Chelsea to see the blues may be incentive enough.
  16. This is utter, utter rubbish. Nobody is scrambling to get onto building projects anywhere. They are scaling down their operations and Kier is trying to sell its housebuilding arm. The possible effects of Brexit on the building trade would be a cost increase through labour shortage and materials rising in price through adverse currency movements so it is very hard at the moment to get people to tender for big construction projects because they have this uncertainty in their costs. I am not imagining this; I had a very poor response to a big fixed price tender last month and it's down to the cost uncertainty. No decent sized builders are scrambling for anything at present; they are sitting on their hands. (NB - I am not trying to start a Brexit debate - there is one on the politics board so keep it there)
  17. Or David Pipe, stopped bothering to play and decided to attack somebody and break their skull before being locked up so bringing to an end his Rovers' career. I would say he lacked class and failed to bring glory to de famos qarters.
  18. The Cock seems to be Gary Thompson Mk II. All passion but not the faintest idea of how to set up a team and what strategy to use. Though in their Board's eyes he has one towering advantage over all other possible managerial candidates. He's cheap.
  19. Correct, just found it. 2002/03 Preliminary round A preliminary round was necessary to reduce the number of teams by one, because of the extra UEFA Cup place awarded to newly relegated Ipswich Town through the Fair Play league. Tie no Home team Score Away team Date 1 Bristol Rovers 0–2 Boston United 20 August 2002 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002–03_Football_League_Cup 2011/12 Preliminary round Times up to and including the fourth round are BST (UTC+1). Times from the quarter-finals onwards are GMT (UTC±0). Due to newly relegated (and League Cup title holders) Birmingham City having a bye to the third round following qualification to the Europa League and the extra Europa League berth awarded to Fulham through the Fair Play league, newly promoted AFC Wimbledon and Crawley Town played each other in a preliminary round. The draw for the round took place on 13 June with Crawley Town at home. This was the first need for a Preliminary Round since the 2002–03 season. 29 July 2011 Crawley Town (4) 3–2 AFC Wimbledon (4) Broadfield Stadium, Crawley 19:45 Akpan 38' Torres 53' Tubbs 64' Report L. 20. Nope, they can't even claim to be unique there; it happened again a few years later. I think AFC Wimbledon were the failures that time but can't find it on a quick search.
  21. Really? One imagines the whole crowd to look something like this:
  22. Of the six Rovers' group companies: Filton Avenue Guarantee Company was dissolved via compulsory strike off for not filing accounts a couple of months ago https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/06912935/filing-history Filton Avenue Development Company has just been dissolved via compulsory strike off for not filing accounts https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/06828864/filing-history The Memorial Stadium Development Company has just been dissolved via compulsory strike off for not filing accounts https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/06829025/filing-history Leaving: Bristol Rovers 1883 - Holding Co Memeorial Stdium Company - Ground owner Bristol Rovers FC - Football club Which is the same structure that we have; all shares are owned in the holding co which in turn owns the club and ground separately. This could be interpreted as tidying the group structure with the total assets of all three dormant companies being just £200; though there are far better ways to go about it than failing to file accounts and being struck off. However... These companies are just what you set up when you are undertaking a major develpment project, I guess they were in place for the UWE, so that it is in a separate company so that if everything goes wrong then only that company goes and not the group (assuming no parent company guarantees). There is nothing shady in this; it's standard practice for development projects. And yet: WAQ has said that the fruit market site is so good to go that he expects a finished development there in two years. Now obviously he has got a bit carried away there but if you are seriously intending to go into a big development project then the very first thing that you do is set up new companies to take the risk. Exactly such companies that have just been allowed to be dissolved. With the inference being drawn: That whether or not the fruit market site is a runner for a new stadium it will be, like the Colony "training ground", a Dwane Sports asset and not the property of Bristol Rovers. I would suggest monitoring the filings and the setting up of any associate companies of these two companies for any changes: DWANE DEVELOPMENTS UK LIMITED Company number 11253528 https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/11253528/filing-history WIZTEK LIMITED Company number 10664221 https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/10664221/filing-history Edit: @bert tann any expansion? You often have an inside track.
  23. Yes, if it was on a separate forum per my suggestion last month. Otherwise no.
