Many years ago the Rovers hierarchy were paranoid about Peter Manning muscling his way into their club. Another feared figure was John Pontin of the JT Construction Group. You see they knew that once the Society of Merchant Venturers gained control the heart and soul would be ripped from Rovers and what was once a football club would soon become a cosy dining and hospitality venue for the very important people who control business in Bristol. So while Stephen has repelled the boarders and is busy putting sport first Nicholas is finally throwing in the towel. And it is a very large white one.
Ed Ware and John Laycock are both Merchant Verturers, so are people looking in the wrong directions re. CS?

Colin Sexstone left Plymouth Argyle yesterday.
I wonder if he's got anything else lined up? Rumours are rife.

I think you misheard the rumours about NH and a sextoy!

Do they still have a special half time announcement over the tannoy if we're loosing away at half time, followed by a special announcement at full time if we've lost ?....but bugger all if we've won !
If they ever get the loudspeakers in the Blackthorn end working properly I'll be able to answer your question!

Erm....with over a thousand Oxford, don't look quite so good now!
633 Oxen travelled - which I thought was quite good, given it was live on Sky.
Had to laugh at the caption competition - @Major Isewater gets my vote

Jeez are there any gasheads on here who can speak a bit of sense? What happened to In The Net?
Still here!
Schools go back next week, so they'll be too busy with homework to post on here.

Dear 29AR
With the benefit of your legal training, please can you confirm whether we are still going for the money which was supposed to be paid for The Mem, or is it some sort of compensation?
I have read so many different takes on this - my head is spinning.
Cheers!

Perhaps they can give wet sponges to the crowd, when an injury occurs the Gas hoards can have a competition to see who can accurately hit the affected area. Pasty to the winner?
No wet sponges allowed - Higgs insists that everything is watertight.

And more-Williams only offered him a deal til Xmas and he isn't injured
I believe that the money on offer did not meet his requirements.

I liked the suggestion that fans bring a brick to each game. They have obviously copied City's plan for fans to buy a brick for the previous scheme to replace the Wedlock with a new stand. First of all they steal the ground from Bristol Rugby and now they are stealing our ideas to help them build a new stand.
Various clubs have used the "buy a brick" scheme to fund stadium builds/improvements over the years - to lay claim to it as your own idea is a bit like saying that you invented the wheel.

Just had a quick trawl through twitterland......what is the link with Noel Edmunds, is he G*s?
I've never liked him since Multi Coloured Swap Shop, and maybe it's all becoming very clear now as to why......
He's a friend of Geoff Dunford, and has brought his son along to some games. I think that it's his son who is into the football more than him though.
Straws and clutching springs to mind - desperate times!
-
Wonder if Dunford regrets Saturday's tweet......
Or maybe he thought it would be a good week off the field if Higgs is forced out? It wouldn't surprise me if his son took up a place on the BoD before long.

Chances are your leader already knows
Depends whether he can get a decent mobile signal in Italy!

Still can't make up my mind which way this will go on Monday.

Who are they going to sign next?
Chad Evans?
No, it's an unwritten law that FGR get first dibs on ex-cons.

Worth every penny.
I'm sure it is for you lot! I was referring to those who click on the link, and then warn the rags that they will be losing 40,000 readers!

The Mirror article was quite funny, don't think the Independent has quite pulled it off though. Those commenting on there seem to have forgotten that everytime you click on a article you are effectively putting money in the publisher's pocket via advertising revenue.

Page one of the Sagchat forum. Poster asks......."Where are all the fans gonna stand to watch the heroes?" The answer........ College Green!
Hollowhead is right we do need them. Who else would keep giving gifts all year round.
Whooosh!

Sounds like a good day out - fair play.
I did tune into Sky to watch Oskar lead the team out - what a day for him, but I had a feeling that the rest of the broadcast might not be too enjoyable for me.

Something else I found out, UWE will still own the freehold on the ground with Roverzzz taking on an approximate 100 year lease, so you're still rent boys ;-)
Shhh - that's supposed to be a private arrangement between the two of us!
-
That's what I thought - old Bert has got to be on the wind up.
KITR is the one in the know - it ain't true unless he confirms it!

Will no one think of the hedgehogs?
No, really
Aizoon - NH made special efforts to ensure that the South Glos branch of Horace's dynasty had no chance to scupper the building schedule!
"There has been an ecologist on site for the last few weeks assessing for nesting birds. mammals and hedgehogs.
He has given it a clean bill of health and Nick approved the removal of all shrubs and vegetation immediately from the site before the nesting season starts. or other reptiles move back in.
This will save months on the building programme, fantastic start and stops anyone protesting we have killed off nesting sites or local mammals etc."
No doubt TrashHorfield will lodge the next stage of their appeal at 3.59 p.m. on 2nd April. They don't seem at all bothered that the judge tore them a new one re. time wasting, when he made his decision last week. They've certainly picked up a few tips from your Village Green chums.
-
Didn't take the Judge very long to refuse the leave to appeal. I wonder how long before we find out which one of the supermarkets is bankrolling this?
-
Peter O'H - sadly, there will always be some who can never bring themselves to acknowledge anything positive which comes from the red side, but will jump on something negative + highlight it. I can assure you that lots of Rovers fans did appreciate the good wishes from City fans yesterday, and also thought that the AV outcome was a disgrace - unfortunately, I think that those of a negative persuasion always tend to shout louder and more frequently, so the voice of reason goes unheard!
-
Don't tell me that this backward City might actually be encouraging a sporting development !!
As should have been the case with AV too.
