I know I'm colourblind and short sighted and sat 30 rows up in the Dolman, and it was a night game with the super trouper Lansdown lights putting me off a bit, but was the real life contrast that good. I'd like to think I would have seen the logo if so :)

No, you're right it was full blackout.

I don’t understand the logic with this. Surely if he has an outstanding season his value will increase, not decrease (or have I misread your post?)

If he only has 1 year left on his contract then no one is going to spend more than £10m knowing they can get him for free in a year's time and that's if he has an excellent season (which I would put my money on), like HNM now we would be lucky to get £3-5m, if he had 2 or more years left we would be looking at £10m+.

One year left on a contract is a buyers market because the club has to sell if they want any money, the club needs to make money to trade under FFP or P&S so is kind of pushed into needing that money if we want to trade up (which of course we do).

  3. If Semenyo has an outstanding season (>15 goals) this season I can't see us getting more than £10m next summer whereas if we sell now I think the offer is more like north of £16m.

If we can't provide a good enough contract for him to want to extend then I think now is the time sell unfortunately.

  4. Life is just a series of priority calls or compromises. Could you have taken them and enjoyed the game together - I don't know, if you couldn't I think you made a good choice.

Just because you have prioritised your family over your football club doesn't make you a bad fan - it makes you sensible.

Probably, also worth bearing in mind this is really his breakout season, as his appearances in the pandemic one were sporadic.

However if the transfer window closes & Semenyo, Wells & Weimann are all still here, we will have plenty of opportunity to mix & match.

I wouldn’t discount Chris Martin, either, not a favourite with some on here but still has a part to play & an ideal sub.

Can you remember when we only had one striker at one point, I think it was the season after we stayed up following promotion. Now we might have the opposite problem!

Did I see it correctly around the 70th minute mark when Williams walked off the pitch towards the dug out and i think NP shoved his back on the pitch with a massive push?

Yes you did see that correctly unless I imagined the same thing, he looked a bit dazed and like he was about to walk down the tunnel and Nige was having none of it but then subbed him about 5 mins later.

So in the first four games our expected goals were 4.5 and our actual goals were 6?  So either our goal scorers are world class or xG is meaningless?

It could be both, depends how you want to interpret it e.g. our strikers are doing better than our xG would usually expect but I would also say it's not meaningless it's just not definitive.

Why do the standing section need to end a certain song with the words “ you ****”? I doubt they shout that word when they are at home, so why do it at a football match? To me, it illustrates a lack of maturity

I don't think showing maturity is what they are going for TBH. They are trying for cheap laughs and one way of doing it is being a bit immature. If you don't like it just don't sing that bit.

I used to love going to Ninian Park, it was a real shit hole and full of baying and aggressive home fans. The most hostile away ground I ever visited. Even the police were like a bunch of thugs, holding their riot shields like the Roman army. One particular memory was when the home and City fans were behind the goal separated by about 15m metres and high netting.

They were so close that they threw coins thru the netting, empty coke bottles full of piss over the netting……I went for a piss and the away bogs had no roof!

That was day the iconic photo of Scott Murry cupping his hand  to his ear as he ran down the side to us fans at the other end was taken. That has to be my favourite City photo of them all.

That net was like a token gesture, found about £4 (4 pound coins) on the way out - they were serious about throwing coins back then! I was right up against the fence and I'm fairly sure if me and a Cardiff fan reached out we could have grabbed each other through the railings. My favourite away day I think, definitely in the top 3.

I have a funny feeling that was a couple weeks before they played Leeds and had loads of trouble with a pitch invasion.

I noticed that the following year there was a net by there bank in an attempt to stop the bottles of piss being thrown and there was a barrier in the stand moving both us and Cardiff fans away from the central fence, lots of warnings at the front as well about security paint on the front wall.

I’m guessing that there was just one microphone that wasn’t being passed around.

That said  several of Nige’s pressers have had the same problem where fans can’t hear the questions properly.

It’s pretty crap to be fair and I’m not sure what the SLO can do about it.

I assume the SLO can find the correct person inside the club and get them to address it.

How do you propose we fix it? or should we just moan to each other on here about it and then we can moan that no one's done anything about it.

I thought the ref got it spot on tonight.
The Atkinson appeal was nothing. Don’t even think there was contact and if there was it was initiated by Atkinson himself moving his right leg toward the defender. And he made a meal of it.

    As for the sending off.
2 footed, from behind, aggressive, red mist having not got a free kick. Absolutely the right decision and a moment of stupidity from Sykes.
Freeman - as far as I’m aware, it’s not a sending off offence if you barge someone in the back. So a yellow card was correct there too.
What I didn’t like was how Sykes went down holding his head when his head hadn’t been touched and he’d only been barged in the back.
So a stupid tackle and then cheating to follow it up. Not the proudest 30 seconds of Sykes career I’d guess.

I thought it was 2 reds at the time but on reflection I agree with what you have said.

Quite clever by Freeman to keep his hands down.

For me the big question is " do the players really believe in him"?

Is that a good question e.g. What do you mean by believe? To give you an example there is a massive spectrum of believe, do they believe he exists? Will the sacrifice there first born child to follow his teachings and methods?

What do you mean by "really", is there a suspicion of faking "belief" in him?

  13. For those saying there is no progress I can remember 2 seasons ago when we rarely had enough shots to beat the goals the opposition scored against us. How long was it that we didn't get a corner for? I can remember us cheering getting a corner. There is a slow and steady uptick in performance on the pitch if only from a very low bar. Things aren't going well accepted but they are better.

If you want to see real progress then you have to take a look at the bigger picture, dead wood almost all gone, wage bill slashed. I know most people only care about what happens on the pitch and that's fair enough as that's what you pay to see but this is the consequence of "going for it", "pushing the boat out" and spending more than we can afford and not making it to the prem - now we need to rebuild. This should be the last season of extremely tight pursue strings.

It may well be, but surely that is not the point.

It is the price of the postage stamp that pays for Royal Mail’s input and, if that has not increased, where is the justification for a 50% increase?

I would have a guess that it's is the:

Someone putting something in an envelope and addressing it to you part then.

wages are going up fast costs need to be passed on to the consumer.

Do you get an option? Could you pick it up yourself?

No, SL and RG said we didn't meet the expectation of mid table add in in fact little progress so far this season = worrying times.

That was more in line with where we would like to be not where we expected to be. I think JL said expected but he is loose and fast with his words, NP said after that we were about where he expected to be - obviously not a target set within the club or if it is then not one the manager agreed with and I will take the football man's target over the wallet, wallets son and the administrator every day of the week.

Genuine question…at what point do you think we say enough is enough?

I am giving him until Christmas to get us to somewhere above 18th but in reality (the financial reality) I don't think we should get rid of him until the end of this season. That being said the funds available in next summer's transfer window will be slightly looser - would be interesting to see what he could do with a better budget rather than trying to cost manage our unwinding of the shit that MA left us in.
