  1. I thought that at the time. Their defender had to go for it because there was a city player there waiting for the tap-in. Unfortunately for him it hit the back of his own net. Great for us though!!!
  2. What a great set of results against good sides. Today we looked really good. Hungry and playing for each other. also, not sitting on a 1 goal lead is VERY refreshing for me. Even at 90 minutes we were looking for the 5th. Well done to Liam and the lads - thanks for giving me a very happy Christmas
  3. Here’s a stream for the second half: http://www.fawanews.com/Watford vs Bristol City.html Great first half but we need to stay focused. They are bound to attack us hard in the second half.
  4. Merry Christmas all and a happy New Year!! Remember reds - every year/month/week/day/hour/second is a step closer to the day we reach the promised land!!!! Feliz Navidad a todos aqui.
  5. Yet those 7 or 8 (carrying the dubious ones) managed to get to the playoff finals. That team was great. I miss them.
  6. Great 3 points!! One thing puzzled me though - what was that strange set piece where the ball was placed in front of the goal and everyone apart from the Boro goalie had to wait behind the ball? Great we scored but I can’t recall seeing that set piece before…….. what’s it called?
  7. I wanted a Stag. Beautiful looking and sounding machine. Put a deposit down on one from a reclaim yard in Risca - a Mk1 - J reg 1971. It had the original 3.0 Triumph V8 which was running, but needed loads of other work. i chickened out and lost my deposit. That was when I lived in Bishopsworth in 1989. I would still love to own one even now. You owned some great machines. TR6’s are fetching big money now.
  8. Either him (Regan) or George Cowley from The Professionals - my other top TV watch from those days. Either of them would have made great football managers !!!
  9. You’re right - on reflection I don’t remember Saturday evening TV being much unless you were into the American series. Magnum PI? Hawaii 5-0? Starsky and Hutch were Saturday evenings I believe - which I used to enjoy. Was it a Granada or a Consul? They were the same (really cool) shape and I’d love to have one of either model now. Sorry I am ruining the thread with my reminiscing…..
  10. Seriously we won’t be able to compare them properly until LM has spent 5 years with us. Even then, the setup that existed when LJ was at the helm (Deano, Ashton) will be very different to Liam’s tenure.
  11. They are similar in that their first initial is L
  12. Without wishing to hijack the thread; in the 1950s a third of the world’s motor vehicles were manufactured here in the United Kingdom. One in 3 cars worldwide were British. That’s incredible. Then in the 1970s Nationalisation and Leyland ruined the reputation of all their brands - and finally the industry was broken up and sold off to foreign buyers during and just after the Thatcher years. I don’t believe there is now a single British-owned car manufacturer left. What a demise!!! Back to football - at least back in the 1970s you could drive your Marina, Metro, Maxi or Allegro to Ashton Gate to see top flight football - then watch an episode of The Sweeney to end the evening… it wasn’t all bad!!
  13. I had a Triumph TR7 convertible. Loved it - but it was a rustbucket. It was as much a hobby for me back then at 21 as it was a form of transportation.
  14. They’ve always hated us - Swindon are their main rivals though, partly due to location but mainly due to the ‘car wars’ British Leyland industrial strikes in the 1970s (similar to the ‘dock wars’ between Portsmouth and Southampton). Some of you may remember the Hartcliffe Riots back in the early 90s, where cars, shops and houses were set on fire - the majority of arrests were people who bussed in from Oxford to have a pop. I remember being astounded at the time. When people think of Oxford, we tend to think of highly educated dons, swishing down gothic corridors in their gowns, talking like they did on Pathe newsreels - or Inspector Morse esq pretty pubs and villages - but in fact Oxford plays host to one of THE most violent and crime ridden estates in the UK… https://crimerate.co.uk/oxfordshire/blackbird-leys They have some very unpleasant people amongst their fan base
  15. No idea what this ‘Shags and Kid’ stuff is all about but people seem to find it funny so here’s me trying to fit in….
  16. It popped up so I posted it. It may or may not be true. I haven’t seen any announcement from any source unveiling anyone else - or saying Eustace will NOT be the next manager, so this is all I have to offer.
  17. Nope - you can still buy Wagon Wheels….
  18. At least with Lampard we’d be able to watch more of our poor performances and defeats on Sky…………..
  19. I didn’t post this as a WUM - it was prompted by something I read on Bristol City Till I Die Facebook page where this topic came up and many posters were saying that SL wanted to sell just the club and lease the ground back: https://www.facebook.com/groups/216839798346853/permalink/7110445525652878/
  20. … are the Lansdowns selling the whole Bristol Sport empire, or just Bristol City Football Club? If it’s just the club then we presumably will have to rent Ashton Gate from Bristol Sport? That’s not a good thing. We could end up like Coventry and their Ricoh ground.
  21. One positive from this debacle is that it’s more or less united the fan base. Many people were still polarised around the pros and cons of the LJ/Ashton era - and whether or not NP was any better on the pitch, but most of us (whether we liked LJ or not) are agreed that this seems a crazy decision. Maybe it’s a stroke of genius by the board in trying to unite the fan base again, by giving us something to all collectively unite in anger and disbelief about?
  22. I’ll support anyone who gets appointed. That doesn’t mean I agree with the appointment. That’s how I was with LJ.
  23. Based upon what happened after the last sacking of a long-term Bristol City manager, I would expect to see a long drawn-out recruitment process of interviews, boardroom debates and discussions, lasting at least 4 weeks, finally cumulating with Curtis Fleming being unveiled as the next manager.
