  1. Ffs how did we get caught up in all that? We’re Somerset (and Wiltshire in my case) - why didn’t we let those northerners settle things without us getting dragged into it?!!!
  2. It’s a resort on the Costa Del Sol and I’m flying back tomorrow evening… ?
  3. You may be right I’m open to correction
  4. Maybe not motorways but major roads possibly? Football crowds are definitely nasty through the ages. We are probably the nicest generation in football history. the 70s were the worst - our parents/grandparents - shameful.
  5. From a purely football angle, IMHO Man U could consider themselves unlucky. 2 of Liverpools goals were from lucky deflections (ok they still had to finish) Also I thought one Man U player was unlucky to be yellow carded after he got the ball with his tackle but the Liverpool player got caught up in the follow-through. That said it would still have been at least 4-0……..
  6. I’ve been told (and I’m open to being corrected) that the reason Man U and Liverpool hate each other is nothing to do with being local rivals, nor religion or politics - apparently it was after the Munich air disaster when many of the ‘Busby Babes’ tragically lost their lives, Liverpool fans draped piss-taking banners mocking the tragedy from motorway bridges around the area. Man U fans have (understandably) never forgiven them for this and the hatred has grown. Like I said - I’m open to being corrected on this, but this is my understanding from what I’ve been told.
  7. Amusing and entertaining watching here from Fuengirola. Don’t like either side (don’t hate them either). Battle of the Plastics. Liverpool Plastics get bragging rights today - you can hear them in pubs and bars all across the south of England teasing their Man U plastic counterparts in the same regions.
  8. On one of the Cardiff forums, one of the regular posters on there (who I’ve enjoyed banter with over the years) said before the game that they(Cardiff) should go in hard and aggressively, intimidating our lads with loads of shithousery because he thought if we were allowed to play our game then we would take the points. Maybe their manager was reading that forum?!!!
  9. If we’re charging them extra to cover the cost of their behaviour then fair enough (although I was under the impression we charged CCFC for the damage..?) I was given to believe (possibly incorrectly) that we charged ALL visiting fans those prices, not just the violent Neanderthals like Cardiff and Millwall??
  10. They have a point about the pricing.
  11. Last time I was in Cardiff on a match day, the kick-off actually took place in the pub!!!!!
  12. Me and Mrs R&W will be watching the game at Ibenza Square Benalmádena if anyone fancies joining us…….. ?
  13. Prewett was my grandmother’s maiden name and her father was the builder. She married and became a Robson. One of the Robsons played cricket for England - and played in goal for Bristol City (around the 1920s) !! BCFC really is in my blood!!!
  14. Ah Prewett St - believe it or not that was named after my maternal great grandfather who was the builder who built it!!!
  15. I remember when it was called the Merchant Venturer. I was working in Redcliffe St at the time it was changed. There used to be a pub around the back of St Mary’s church opposite - I think that was called the Ship - is that still there?
  16. I’d hoped for 3 points given our current form and their plight, but I’ll take a point and still unbeaten in 2023. Those teams at the bottom are scrapping for their survival and will pose as difficult a task as those at the top - albeit in a different way. A point gained for me.
  17. JET showing the world how a penalty SHOULD be taken… ….. not that we need this skill anymore seeing as we don’t ever get awarded any…!!!
  18. I admire Warnock. His record speaks for itself. I can’t help feeling that the fire has gone out though - he’s not as feisty and ranty as he used to be (probably a good thing considering his age) and his passion was a big part of his success at getting the absolute best out of ‘inferior’ players. It can’t be good for a 74 year old to be in one of the most stressful jobs around though. I will keep my eye on Huddersfield’s results with interest.
  19. I was a doubter but never reached the stage that I wanted Nige sacked. I just wanted improvement - which we are now seeing, so all’s well in the R&W camp. After a really dire streak before Christmas, I’m really enjoying this good streak……….?
  20. Every win we’re talking about the playoffs Every defeat and it’s relegation and doom and gloom. We are Bristol City - it’s what we do ? In all seriousness though, this league is so tight that either is mathematically possible, but neither are very likely.
  21. .... as quoted by a certain band from Swindon who were very popular back in the day. I have enjoyed a beer and music chat with Mr. Partridge a couple of times in our local Spanish Tapas bar!
  22. You can get 4 weeks out of them; wear them normally first for a week, then back-to-front for the second week. Turn them inside out and repeat. Keep on repeating until they become too starched to wear properly (or the season ends - whatever comes quicker!!)
  23. LJ kept us fighting at the top end of the Championship for the majority of his tenure, plus the best cup run in a lot of people's living memory, and many of those 63 played their part in that, to a greater or lesser extent. Ultimately LJ couldn't achieve promotion in the 5 seasons he was afforded. He also seemed to run out of ideas at the end, so it was right that he was replaced. It's also right that we have been cutting the wages bill and trimming the squad. I doubt if LJ personally had much to do with negotiating signing-on fees or wages - his job was in the dugout, not the Payroll office. I've said before on different threads, I look back on the LJ years with relative fondness. I though he was OK - I certainly don't see his time as a disaster. I've been a supporter since the 1970s and for far too much of that time we've been languishing below the second tier, so LJ's 5 seasons of Championship football without fear of relegation is a positive for me. Yes there have been some financial issues as a result of the buying and selling policies pursued by the previous regime (not necessarily LJ personally himself), but on the pitch and in the League table things were pretty healthy IMHO.
