Max has been excellent all season. A mistake doesn't change that. Bloody hell, why have we got to leap to "get him in the bin" "drop him" "he's never been good enough" every time someone makes an error? It's bloody childish.
It's not just the last mistake, he's not commanding enough generally and teams know it. He's not terrible, but will fall victim to the small improvements of an improving side over the Summer I believe.

That was Max unfortunately.

New keeper is a MUST this summer.
He's a back up keeper at best. I'm sure this will be addressed in the Summer.

So to answer your question... 5 seasons the first time? Two good cup runs, some great results. I am sure the fans enjoyed the ride.
I think you're suffering from a short memory, personally.
In those 6 seasons they've pretty much covered our entire history!
Much like Chelsea, the last 25 years represents their best league performance in their history and they've had 23 managers in that time. Strange how changing manager every five minutes seems to work reasonably well for some clubs and for others it's a disaster.

"the Umpire Strikes Back!"
Quite like this summary of the situation

Yesterday was the best I've seen him play for us since signing. He also operates in an area where our play looks least defined. We don't have that purpose/telepathy in the final third. That needs to evolve when Scott and others leave and new players come in, hopefully Cornick will play a part in that.

I think he's part of the whole final third puzzle that needs sorting. The good news is he does have ability. He also floated in some good crosses that we should have done better with. I think there's a lot more to come from him.

We aren’t that great either though (at the mo’). We might be seen as cannon fodder by some too. We are a shadow of the team that can contain Atkinson, Naismith, Scott that results in Pring having to play CB, plus Kalas too.
Out of interest who were the 6 (ish) Reading players you thought looked / played as if they were making their debuts?
Unfortunately I don't have an intimate knowledge of the Reading team, but I saw basic mistakes all over the place from them. They looked nervous at times and made poor decisions, some of which was caused by us, which is good.
Large parts of our game are improving and I'm supportive of Pearson and think/hope we'll continue to improve. I know it's not all about one game, but we carelessly threw points away today and I don't think we should shy away from that, we're better than that now. I know that's how it goes sometimes, but we should have put them to the sword and the fact that we didn't was what made it not good enough for me today.

Thanks for the response.
I agree..our finishing has been poor for a long time. We create quality chances. But don't finish.
As a comparison to our competion...Anyone who has followed Sheffield Utd this season will compare, and be highly frustrated. They create far below us...yet score, defend and win more.
However...conceding from silly mistakes has also been like it for a long time. Regardless of formations, injuries, or personnel.
For me...it's not 433 that's the problem...it's the quality of performances weekly by championship standard players, that flatter to deceive.
Don't get me wrong... I think we will improve and are improving.
But let's not protect NP from constructive criticism, just because we want him here and fear criticism is negative.
He will be fuming inside imo...even though he's seen positives in performance for next season.
I concur with your sentiments Dave...however...we can make as many excuses as we like, and point out Readings' game plan and pros...They've only got a point against Blackpool and lost a host of games beforehand, with arguably a stronger squad available.
They are cannon fodder. We should have nailed them. Them and QPR are awful ATM.
Agreed. Reading looking like a team with about 6 players making their debut. They were appalling and we should have smashed them out of site. No excuses for that, just not good enough.

I've seen pictures of the original east end roof in 1912 that look similar to somewhere not far from here today

Not sure Carlisle will be too pleased with a 13.30 kick off, should they make the final.

With no new stadium, I would have preferred us to rotate the pitch 90 degrees and/or move the whole thing to the west of the current site. Not sure where we would have played, but 12/13k would have been enough at the time. Others might not be bothered, but I am bothered about the Atyeo. It's not as good as it should be. I want the best, not just that'll do. It's like the team, better but should be even better, come on city !

Yep was port vale away the other game, I think this was around the time walshy missed a few pens on the trot, but I could be a year out, I don't recall John taking another pen though
Think he might have scored in the penalty shoot out against Mansfield at Wembley.

An easy thing to google. 96% of internet users (which itself is 95% of the UK population), own a smartphone.
Those stats might be right, but as anyone that's needed to help a relative out knows, owning a smartphone and knowing how to use it are different things. I regularly see people struggling with scanning the cards let alone phones. Then you need to ensure you phone is charged, emails working etc. Digitisation isn't for everyone and I hope they keep some alternatives.

It's certainly looking the worst it's been since it was installed, but farmers field, that's a load of old bullocks !
Not so long ago we'd have been delighted with it in August let alone February. Any complaints about the subs bench not having heated seats?

The linesman on the Dolman side didn't seem capable of flagging for anything and seemed to just wait for instruction from the referee. We've seen this a few times, but last night must have been one of the worst examples I can recall. It was almost as if someone needed to keep tapping him on the shoulder and say "you've got to do something with the flag now".

He certainly goes for it more than Bentley, but not really commanding. A commanding keeper takes everyone out including the ball!
Nige is rarely specific about where we need to improve, but I'm sure he'll sort it.
