Anybody remember Fred Ford?

That was my thoughts as well. He replaced Thresher in that position. -

I was at that game at white hart Lane. Crowe missed a penalty that day at 1 down. Tony Ford who had previously scored about 17 pens on the trot missed and it had to be retaken. Chris stepped up and blasted wide. A bit later Greaves scored a pen to make it 2-0. -

I was there. Horrible player was Monroe. As far as I was concerned he had it coming. -
Absolutely spot on.

WBA changed their manager and with the same players turned it round. It can be done.
-
Yep. He said it twice when I was there.
-
You’re probable correct but a doubt Pearson will go back 4.
-
What midfield ??
-
I agree it was far from a shocker. I thought we were a far better team than Stoke. However they found a way to win a game where we should have got a minimum of one point. The goal on ht was the key point. Without that I think we were comfortable winners.

I lurch between Pearson knows what he’s doing and he’s not got a clue on almost an every other game basis. Part of me thinks that another manager would get more out of the players we have, the other part of me thinks he’s doing ok. I feel that I’m fxxxxxd.

He wasn’t the reason we lost. As you said conceded 2 poor goals. I’m more concerned about Pearsons subs. IMHO Scott was dreadful 2nd half. The obvious sub was taking him off moving Weinman forward and bringing on Sykes. Why the hell did he bring on Martin? Absolute waste of time against Stoke CB’s. Unless Conway was injured why take off your top scorer when you need a goal? I reckon the Stoke CB’s may have tired late on allowing Conway more space.

Agreed regarding Stoke. With respect to Boro. I don’t think they’ll be in a relegation battle but I’ve got a feeling that Luton will be having lost Nathan Jones. Based on that today may be a decent result for us. -

My view entirely. -
Dave I desperately want Pearson to be a successful City manager. Why the hell should I want anything different. Trouble is his record suggests otherwise.
-
Dare I say wishful thinking. 2wins and just 11 goals in the last 13 games with 10 points from the last 39 would suggest otherwise. What do you think will change to improve Pearsons win ratio?
-
Football is full of teams where many fans of those teams believe them too good to be relegated.
-
Not chuckle but certainly feel that we would be sleep walking to relegation.
-
Oh well if we’re in the bottom 3 at the turn of the year let’s all just shrug our shoulders and believe that Pearson is the best we can hope for.
-
There are many strands to being a decent midfielder. Goals and assists are two of them. Our midfield doesn’t do either.
-
There is no conundrum Martin is no longer good enough. Slow, cumbersome and offers very little. Wells was doing fine tonight and looked dismayed to be substituted. The substitution spoiled any chance we had of getting back in the game.
-
Not poor but needs to improve his dead ball delivery.
