We seem to have plenty of left footed defenders!

Two footed, very quick, direct, skilled and free. What is there not to like? If Big Nige sees something extra in him and can even add further improvement, then he could be a great signing.

Believe or not?....... Vegan and Veggie Pies do exist.......Pies are not the sole privilege of the Flesh eating classes?
Show me a decent and well textured steak and kidney pie that is still vegan, and I MIGHT concede the point. Veg is OK with meat pies but a bit uni-dimensional with a veg pie. All flesh is grass originally.

Grant Shapps is a ***. That’s all there is to say.
The DCO application was fully costed and funded. Shapps then needlessly delays his decision by 6 months citing he’s worried about the environmental issues and a possible JR. In that 6 month delay he’s advised if the delay goes beyond the middle of Jan it will incur increased costs of around £13m. He spent those 6 months right up the very last day making just *two* queries - one on the 6th carbon budget and one on the whitebeam trees. Both these points were extensively detailed in the DCO application. It was tedious and frivolous time wasting.
He then decided after a six month delay that because of the muted increase in costs that he needs full clarification of where the extra money will come from and kicks it along another 10 months - caused by his own fuckwittery - citing that it won’t be from the DfT.
..and 35% of people still want to vote for these pricks.
It would be cheaper and more convenient to more people if there was decent parking and no silly restrictions. Sadly life is not that simple and if taxes were to rise even further from their current record level, some people might find it a problem. Whatever any national or local government try to do, they will piss off vast numbers of people. Infrastructure and funding are complex issues and we will only see the issues that affect us and not the bigger picture. From the point of view of fans, it would have been much better to have built the new stadium as originally planned and issues like parking and access could have been tackled with more of a clean sheet. The few dog walkers put paid to that and we have to live with the consequences. With home working likely to feature more in the future, will there be so much need for a commuter service?

I, for one, look forward to FGR's progress: Condemning, as it does, the Gas to being the third best team in Gloucestershire.
(For carnivores mysteriously annoyed by the presence of vegetarians in the world, you can eat elsewhere you know. Buying a pie at football isn't compulsory. I've never eaten at the Gate)
I doubt if carnivores are annoyed by the presence of vegetarians. Virtually all the meat that I eat is from a vegetarian creature. Pie eating is a great football tradition for many of us, and if you don't want to eat yours, I will eat if for you.

The job that Downsy does is not as easy as it looks and it is easy but, in my view, a little unfair, not to give him a bit of respect.

A club that does not sell meat pies has no right to progress!

That always made me laugh. SL can't have studied the economics of clubs in the English Football League much before he came out with that doozy.
If you get on your knees and pray, you might be able to come up with such a mission statement.

What unfinished business is there? Managed to throw away two promotion charges and oversaw the dismantling of when of the best sides we've ever had. Think he's a very good coach, almost certainly a poor manager.
If he's that good a coach, maybe he could be our head coach?

Blackpool Gazette reporting that JET could be available on a free transfer. Now he must be cheap and would guarantee to entertain. Is he a tad quicker than Martin>

Maybe his break from management has given him a chance to reflect on the true nature of the DNA of players and staff in a winning set up.

Experienced players often seem to to slow and disappointing and have poor availability over the season. I think they also have higher wages. Are these players really what we need to build a great team and stay solvent?

Maybe has a future as a defensive midfielder. Seems to get dragged out of position too easily as a central defender. Has pace and a degree of skill and is local. Maybe needs management!

First time I have ever heard the name Ruddock and culture linked! Maybe you are thinking of the chap with outsized shorts?

The sort of signing I could understand if we were in danger of relegation. We aren’t so what’s the point? We are building over 2 years ish by which point he will be retired. So much money wasted over the years on players who are here for five minutes.
Two injuries to central defenders would leave us buggered! Cover is insurance!

We are not going to win promotion with the current squad but are also highly likely to avoid relegation. Nigel has to keep reasonable results bubbling along and at the same time has to develop the excellent crop of young players that we have coming through from the academy. He has a small squad and, at the same time, to manage injuries and form issues amongst the experienced players. He appears to be handling the difficult balancing act very well - albeit in the face of criticism from the usual quarters. In my humble opinion, we have good reason to be optimistic about the future.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has been brought back so that Nige can do a masterful re-organisation of the team. You can fully expect to see Ayman Benarous playing at centre half and Ryley Towler as an attacking midfielder.

In what way?
You only have to look through this forum to see an awful lot of pretty dispiriting criticism of players and staff. People seem to be reluctant to weigh current realities and difficulties and it may serve the club and our very young squad rather better if there was more support and less condemnation of everyone from the owner, to the manager, to the players, to the staff and even to youngsters who have just earned contract extensions and lately scored a winning goal. Positive support may well help whereas the negative criticism just cast a pall of doom over everything.

This stupid article suggests we will narrowly avoid relegation next season - how on earth can they predict anything before they know the shape of the squads of all the teams in the league?
