What I object to about Mr Lansdown's tenure is this.
Bristol City used to be its own football club with its own ground and no debt.
It is now just a sub-section of a Land-based, Multi-sport, Property-development, Profit-motivated, Speculative Franchise.
If multiple revenue streams are generated to help the club have a chance of being able to sustain itself, this could put us ahead of many other clubs who do not have such an advantage. The old Ashton Gate was much loved and the East End was wonderful, but we have moved with the times and now have top class facilities that will benefit fans and club for years to come. The one thing the Lansdowns could do to sustain their legacy is to buy the Gas and turn their stadium into a memorial garden and crown green bowling centre - at least the Bristol public would see a nice bit of lawn where none has ever existed before.

I agree with your first sentence. You are missing the fact that Nigel took over in the middle of a huge injury crisis that denied him the availability of many of his best players. Since then we have had to reduce the wage bill and squad and this will need tweaks over the next few windows as some of our exceptional young players also find their feet at the Championship level - which is very physical, fast and difficult. Maybe this is the time to support and get behind the team and Nigel. They know the issues and are trying to fix them - hopefully your positive support can help the process.

We would go a long way to solving our end of game weakness if the forwards came back and helped to stop so many crosses coming into our box. The out ball to slow forwards is a recipe for creating more pressure on our own defence as the ball then keeps coming back and stays in our half. Maybe the return of Semenyo will help. His extra strength and pace may well help to stop conceding the ball every time and threaten teams who try to push everyone into a siege on our goal in the last quarter of every game.

I think that much of the comment on this thread is rather disrespectful of SL and his family. In the years he has been in business it is clear that he is a gifted businessman and he has now been in football long enough to have picked up a considerable amount of knowledge and wisdom. We should take stock and look at the state of our beloved club since he took over the reigns. The infrastructure will be with us for many decades into the future and can provide a sensational platform for all elements of Bristol Sport to progress.
If these has been a fault - it may just be a degree of bad luck. Expensive stars being signed and then suffering long-term injuries after a very small number of games. The injury crisis that sunk Dean Holden. COVID - that impacted all clubs but together with FFP has made it difficult to simply buy our way out of current difficulties. Unfortunate recruitment - maybe. These kind of difficulties can affect any business and luck has a part to play. Looking back, I think we have made sensational progress and the academy looks likely to save a fortune in the transfer market in years to come. Maybe we are further progressed than many think and providing we can avoid the drop this year, the future looks quite promising and maybe also sustainable. I feel very comfortable with someone like SL in charge because he is building for the City of Bristol as well as Bristol City. I think Steve is a visionary leader and we are very lucky to have him. Those who wish for change, should be very wary of what they wish for - it may be that the grass is not greener on the other side of the fence and that we should fertilise our grass by supporting the club and the Lansdowns to the utmost. The future is bright although there are some squalls to get past in the near future.

as it stands today this is a massive project. we need a Director of football. The manager situation is up in the air. To many rumours about nigel. is he coming back is he not. Get well soon nigel.
It may be a while before Nigel is fully back up and running. Having recently recovered from a nasty dose of COVID I can relate to the fact that there are still days when fatigue is a huge issue followed by better spells. He must be given the time he needs. W would expect that he is still on the phone to all in the club about transfers and the like. As we are cash strapped, the last thing we need to do is overload the payroll with more expensive people in suits. Be patient.

One feature of player development has often surprised me is the improvement that young players can make during the time when the season ends until the next one starts. We have a good number of exceptional young players who, if they improve by next season and the season after that, could be top Championship players and a good foundation for building a promotion worthy side. With a few thoughtful additions, we might surprise a lot of people. Of course, we have to avoid relegation this season - and that may need some heroic recruitment in January. Key to our progress may be recruiting players who will end up being part of the long term squad and not just stop-gaps.

He made at least one cameo appearance in the pre-season friendlies. Very tall but looked a bit ponderous. Did not look close to being a first team player yet. Still young though, plenty of time to improve and learn how to use his main assets.

One for the future maybe?

Maybe we should not have given up on recruiting staff and players with the right DNA!

Ten Coventry players better than eleven City players. Sad. We are supposed to be a fit side but we were second best all over the pitch. Offpissed.

Maybe he has "long Covid".

Were thing so much better under "Uncle Pete Johnson? He seems to tick many of the boxes in the OP.

There's a sub text here....."If only I'd taken good financial advice, I would have been able to retire gracefully and follow my personal interests, instead of pimping myself out for peanuts and pushing my already wasted body and reputation beyond the point of no return."
At the end of life, there may well be a choice of Heaven, Hell or Purgatory. This does not look like Heaven - so the real question should be: Is in Hell or Purgatory?

OK I have a solution to all this dilemma. Let all vaccinated fans sit in the three home sides of the stadium and the unvaccinated can sit with the away fans in the away end. All can enjoy the match and if anyone is going to catch Covid, it will only be away fans. We could even invite the Gas to play a friendly! Simples!!

Who are the Gas playing?

Merger with Rovers on the cards! They could develop the Supermarine "stadium".

Yep, it’s not uncomfortable because it’s uncomfortable, it’s uncomfortable because it’s different. Asian countries, and Asians in western countries, have been wearing masks constantly for years.

Hardly Lee’s fault.
