Lundy! I`m not having that - I`d be able to see them on a clear day.

I`d prefer they relocated to Barry Island or better still, Neath/Port Talbot.

Funnily enough, I mentioned Port Talbot to Waelly recently, but he quipped "What about the smell?"

"Don't worry" I said, "They'll soon get used to you"

To say Pearson would have got two wins in a row is clutching at straws. Didn’t do that very often in his whole time here.

Agree, here's a view on Pearson's last 6 games in charge. It wasn't pretty. QPR comparable to Rotherham, without the late winner!

    (h)  Stoke                   Reasonable performance, but mugged ourselves and threw away 2 goal lead

    (a)  Rotherham        Ugly poor game, flattered by TC’s heroics

    (a)  Leeds                  Too many mistakes, flattered by score

    (h)  Coventry            Second best first half and struggled for rhythm. Second half better

    (h)  Ipswich               Played pretty well, but lost

    (a)  Cardiff                Didn’t create much, lost

Is Manning reporting directly to Tinnion or to JL?

If he’s successful, he won’t be reporting to anyone.

if he fails, he’ll report directly to Tinnion or JL, depending on who’s the favourite whipping boy at the time.

Not totally devoid of optimism but not excited and definitely not particularly intrigued.

I think he did well in that it's been a bit of a whirlwind time of it. I thought the intro to the players in the meeting room was really awkward. Totally agree on the LJ bit. I really couldn't stomach anymore of listening to that.

Of course the proof will be what happens on the grass. He intimated that he won't have time to make too many changes and implement his style in the short lead up to the QPR game. So, I'd imagine we will see a similar shape as we would have under NP.

If you listen to most coaches, they say the same sort of stuff and can't think of anything that he said that made me think he is different in any way. At least he didn't try and bullshit with too much technical jargon. He did say about pressing and going over the top of the press. It stuck in my mind a bit and if and when I get time, I will try and find it and quote what he said.

Agree, most coaches say the same things these days, so it was the subtlety I listened to, identifying anything that I didn’t agree with and/or concerned me. I didn’t picked up anything I didn’t agree with, but then it’s the players he needs to inspire, not the likes of me.

To that point, the most impressive part of his interview for me was his explanation of the people that have inspired him and why. I thought this bit was unrehearsed, but showed great insight into dynamics that form successful teams.

    I wouldn't. No.

Having listened to Manning’s interviews, are you still devoid of optimism, feeling just a bit excited, maybe a little intrigued?

I thought he’s come across well, showed good insight across multiple dynamics, yet without LJ’s bull and smugness.

Of course, proof of pudding will be on the pitch. Still a massive gamble of course, but might work.

What really happened or the real reasons perhaps we'll never know, but from JL's interview, it as least the party line... For now.

The relationship between Nigel and the owners (AND senior management) have been strained for quite a while (hence absence of a new contract). As we know, Nigel is a forthright character, who called it as it is (rightly most of the time), but he didn’t always toe the line.

As an employer, it’s great to get ‘constructive’ criticism from employees, especially those with Nigel’s experience. But there’s a point where criticism ceases to be constructive and becomes divisive. Nigel often crossed that line in THEIR view, hence the breakdown in relations.

How do I know this… I have contacts, but here’s some recent points that caused ‘friction’.

    1. Scott money. Nigel was instrumental in the development of the summer strategy (recruit early, knowing Scott was going). So he knew the budget and knew he wouldn’t get more once the sell went through. He went along with this for a while, but then gave interviews that were PERCEIVED to undermine the owners (who stuck to the strategy).

    2. Loan physio. Yes, that was (on the face of it) a random appointment, but Nigel’s recital of the situation didn’t go down well, again giving the perception that the owners didn’t know what they were doing. He may well of been right, of course, but the public airing and presentation of the same weren’t well received.

    3. Contract situation. Nigel gave the impression that no one had contacted him about a contract. The feeling was that Nigel knew the full situation, but was selective in what he chose to publicly disclose, again painting management in a poor light.

I’m old enough to know that listening to one side of a story can be misleading. I don’t know what really went on, but I know enough to say that Nigel wasn’t dismissed for football reasons alone - that would be crazy, hence my original comment.

Pearson did a very good job. But I think the club felt he had hit a glass ceiling.

Not taking anything away from what he did, we have MUCH to be thankful about during his era, this was about ensuring we now kick on again.

They didn’t think he had hit any sort of ceiling and I wish they’d be more open about his departure. Really think they’ve shot themselves in the foot with this ridiculous line.

Please tell me how this is an exciting appointment?

Exciting only from the perspective of him being largely unknown, but with a reputation of developing exciting, attacking teams (as opposed to an experienced championship manager with set/predictable style of management). I accept that I'm more likely to be disappointed by the outcome of tenure than you, but for now I choose to have feelings of happiness and enthusiasm.

But let me put it another way, had the circumstances been different (e.g. Nigel left by his own accord), would you feel differently about this appointment?

The only way the Lansdowns can get the fans back on side is to throw money into the transfer kitty and get in some marque signings in Jan

I hope not. One of the (many) clever insights from Nigel was the need to have a group of players BROADLY on the same salary, creating a harmonious platform. Marque signings imply high wages, recreating the divergence Nigel inherited and sought to resolve.

We need to buy potential, nurture them, develop them... then sell them to Bournemouth.

I guess that's the logic behind Manning and his perceived ability to get the best out of young talent.

That’s like any manager though mate . Until we get to the prem(Big ask) we will always have the possibility of managers being poached .

Agreed, but the risk increases if we opt for someone above our station, which Potter is. I can see him managing Bournemouth before the season’s over.

... of the betting list Graham Potter is about the only one who would not be worse than Person.  Where do I vote?

Not for me. No doubt, Potter is an excellent coach/manager, but that’s the problem. If appointed and brings success, he’ll off to Prem in a flash and we’ll be back to square 1.

If true, Scott Murray is sh1t or will be soon ?

ps. From personal experience he’s not, he’s a top top geezer.

At what point was Gould sh1t exactly. As far as I can see none.

Scroll back through threads, plenty of criticism of him (lack of engagement, poor transfer windows, etc, jumping ship, etc, etc)

Jon Lansdown has frequently been lacking He’d agree in some respects, we’ve not progressed, but not gone backwards either

less said about Mark Ashton the better He fulfilled a brief in many respects, accept he had (major) flaws

NP being classed as such shows a major lack of understanding of the situation we had for some time. Totally agree, yet that hasn’t stopped the criticism

In respect of Lansdown senior, not so bad at times, poor indeed in others. Look at where we were, look around the ground, the HPC, the upcoming plans, etc. then look up the road. Yes, he’s made mistakes, but the criticism he gets, despite bankrolling the club to the tune of many many millions is unbelievable  - those wanting him to sell up should be careful what they wish for

Cornick okay but could he better for sure. He puts in a shift, not the best, granted. But seriously doesn’t deserve the sh1t he gets on here.

Your post seems more than a tad reductionist really. Really? Have a head wobble, read back through OTIB and reflect. Not just your views, which may be reasoned, but the whole tone. “Supporters” my ar5e

Have a view, of course, but this forum is inbalanced with moaners, in my view.
