  1. If it's still an economic and social disaster, sure
  2. We have a much stronger club thanks to the money.
  3. 1. Who gives a rat's about the PL scoring record? Shearer. The all-time leading scorers are so far ahead of the likes of him (eg Greaves) 2. Bayern would smash Spurs, for starters. And maybe if the standard is 'not what it was', he'll improve it?
  4. I disagree. Spurs need to move on. And I saw some analysis on the Athletic which nailed why he might not fit under Ange P's system: The Athletic IRL He'll fit in well at Bayern. As he would have done at ManUre. ...and some trophies
  5. Really interesting analysis of how bonkers it all is HITC Sevens analysis
  6. Funnily enough, my local Chinese Take-Away is called "Double 8", I'd always wondered why until I found about the importance of 8 to the Chinese.
  7. Is that right? I always thought it was 17 8 is lucky in China
  8. Plenty of players still really care about their number - look at ManUre, where Ronnie did a swap to get the number 7. And Wells seems very fond of 21. I remember Michael Ballack always loved the number 13 shirt.
  9. You should try it, mummy might give you a sticker
  10. It's a good question, they will have to have told the FA ages ago. Will Max take the number 1, or stay with his old 12?
  11. That should be the OTIB strapline: "Come here and start an argument" As you're such an aesthete and expert, how's about you have a crack, using templates?
  12. Still, there's always the alternatives from other Championship clubs...the Boro home kit is truly nasty, ditto all Watfords. Plymouth's, though, are very smart. Championship kits
  13. Sorry, but that's crap. Looks like a JD Sports special with a badge and sponsor. Pretty naff. TBH, I never liked any of the Adidas designs when we had them, especially not the hated Star Trek kit. Template hell.
  14. Last year's away kit under Hummel was indeed a thing of beauty. Sigh.
  15. I think we need to redefine the concept of 'Supercomputer'. Or did you mean "@Super's computer"? ?
  16. Absolutely, the improvement in standards has been astonishing over the last few years. True enough about the men's game, I remember England knocking 8 past Turkey in the 1980s - and the women's game is improving much faster. Gutted, likewise. Not least because that USA kit is absolutely foul.
  17. Lauren James' goal for number 4 was absolutely wonderful, although there were some other absolute wondergoals in other games. That China keeper is going to wake up screaming tonight, dreaming about number 5 ? It is noticeable that in some games, it's all about size and power - witness Sweden vs Italy the other day, and the Netherlands vs Vietnam today - height, strength and power being used to the max. Really loving this competition, some truly outstanding goals. There is, however, clearly a huge gulf in class between some teams, even at World Cup finals level.
  18. Funnily enough, we had that same discussion. The average male GK must be well north of 6'2" (185cm in new money), whereas female GKs are nowhere near that. So why is the net the same size? Having said that, there haven't been that many goals.
  19. I think it was Brazil's third goal in one of their games was a thing of true wonder
  20. I caught up on all the highlights yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyable. Also interesting to see how much more physical the women's game has become, with more use of longer passes, crossing for headers, etc. Some really, really horrible challenges, though. And the standard of goalkeeping is still pretty poor.
  21. It's an interesting thing, a temporary stand. I was up at an open day at Brum Uni, just before the Commonwealth Games. The Uni was hosting the hockey, IIRC, and they had a huge temporary stand in place. It looked perfectly fine and was obviously OK to use. However, it had no roof, no facilities, and was pretty ugly. So it should fit right in at the Mem.
