Beaks under wings people... Let's drop this thread before we all go radio rental, pointless ain't the half of it,

While you have a valid point , it would mean that every time 'they' did something else stupid or comical (and you just know they will) , the posts would be scattered all over the forum in new threads. Best thing to do is ignore the thread , but you will never know the outcome .......

    * is Wael a billionaire ?

    * Will the UWE go ahead

    * Is their super striker really a loyal servant who loves the club.

    * Is Dopey Darrel really a tactical genius in a very good diguise

All these questions and more may be answered in the next instalment of .......

Just like you will be playing Man U next season after two matches.  You might, of course, if they are relegated.

    Go on , I'll bite ....

Everyone I know , that has mentioned, posted or shared pics of us on top of the table, has done so with tongue firmly in cheek. Enjoy the unlikely (pointless actually) sight of us top of the table, have a laugh , but we are sensible enough to know that we will not stay there. Unlike the deluded majority  residing at the old Rugby ground  who only have to see something mentioned to believe it as gospel , say like someone saying a person is a Billionaire or a contract is watertight , you know THAT sort of thing.

Serious question, who gets to sit in the patio chairs ?

    You lot obviously.

I know there are some great rivalries such as Cardiff/Swansea, Norwich/Ipswich, Derby/Notts Forest, Saints/Pompey, but these are nothing like having two teams in the same city. You get to hear there deluded bull**** and see their clowns shirts Whenever they manage a win

    Fixed that for you.

    I know, it's bizarre.

'Delusions of Grandeur' he says, shortly after claiming that we only 'kicked on' with our redevelopment because they had their own plans for a new stadium.

One of them recently claimed that we have only spent what we have on transfers this year because we are so terrified of their imminent rise up the league, loads of them genuinely believe they are now the biggest, richest club in Bristol despite clear evidence to the contrary. For all the accusations of 'Delusions of Grandeur' aimed at City fans this short definition of the term perfectly suits nearly every Gashead I know.

Close , but as it's them and considering where they are it's more Delusions of mediocrity

  6. Small window when the games were played in the same division at Eastville, my first Derby game was '74. I remember a large mob of City on the Tote that never moved until the Police got involved. I remember the game Vs Man Utd and the Gas were there with a special pass , but don't honestly recall them being on the EE at any time. Spurs,Arsenal (every year it seemed) West Ham, Chelsea (those boys could jump fences) even Sunderland , but not Rovers.

  7. OK , lets be fair and (ignoring facts) just assume that the man is a Billionaire, in which case ......

Spending money on the Rugby ground isn't an issue (£15k watch don't you know) , as it's only a poxy few of thousand.

The statement about allowing the club to grow organically and not throwing money at the project is to do with sustainability and not his lack of billions.

The thing I don't get. The deal with the UWE was originally done as (I assume), thegAss didn't have the funds for a site AND for the build. The joint venture would make sense , all be it with reduced revenue in comparison to a sole venture. This is where I wonder about the set up , the new ground would have loans against the build (£40m?) and they would be paying rent or at least surrendering part of the revenue to the UWE. Is it just me or do other smell a hint of the Glaziers/Man Yoo takeover and funding here. I could be wrong, and I'm no expert but for an experienced business man it just seems a little off.

You know it's not even the beginning.

    It's your fault though.Yes it is .....

We need your club to get serious then we will  stop laughing at you .No we don't/won't ....

For quite a while it is just too easy to take you lot as a laughing stock .This is true ....

You would have to be senseless not to see the irony of being relegated by a team wearing your own kit ! Ironic and funny in equal measures.

Go on Gas , give us something to worry about . ain't gonna happen any time soon !

Some people on Rovers forums and the staff of the Evening Post may have got a tad carried away with the wealth of our new owners. However, most  Rovers fans I know, are well aware that they aren't they are not in the league of Russian oligarchs, or for that matter Steve Lansdown.

I am certainly not expecting them to start flashing the cash at big name signings (nor would I want them to).

I do think that they probably have a lot more acumen than Nick Higgs (who doesn't) when it comes to the funding of a new stadium, and that the possibility of a new ground is as close as it as ever been. Having said that, I will believe it when I'm sat watching a game in it!

I can understand fans getting carried away when the takeover was originally announced, we're fans , it's what we do. I am however massively disappointed with the Post falling into the trap and making no effort to find out about the new owners, he has a nice watch so he's a billionaire !

As things stand , I think the Rugby ground will be developed. It will be a cheaper option, not necessarily a worse option , and how long will the UWE wait ?

It does make sense. A bank wanting to fund a project might need £50m. They might be getting say 7% return by investing that £50m in the stock market. They could borrow the money at 5% if the loan is mega-safe, such as a rich Jordanian banking family. So why would they spend £50m of their cash and lose the 7% interest when they could borrow it and only pay 5%? This of course does not apply to mere mortals like us who pay huge interest rates for loans, but that's why the rich always do well.

I'm not into high finance but, aren't  returns on investment very low t the moment while interest rate on loans are also low, mortgage rates etc? In which case the oposite would apply, it would make sense to use your own capital . If you get investors they would want more than if they put money in abank, for example , where there is little or no risk.  I'm sure there are people out there more au fait with banking and finance than me that will be able to say.
