Manning should be given time in the same way NP was, i.e. only if he slashes the wage bill and delivers year on year improvements in league position. I could stomach missing the play offs this season as he needs to bed in, but JL and BT have set the expectation, so I don’t think letting him go at this point next season if we’re not in the POs is inconsistent with the standard that JL and BT have set. I hope he’s on a two year or 12 month rolling contract with an option for extensions based on top 6 finishes.

I know two people that work for the club, and they are absolutely rigid about not revealing any information. I’ve never had any gossip from them (both of them are model professionals).

I’m not booing him off, I’m not saying he’ll fail, and I certainly don’t want him to, but “at least it’s not Ben Garner or Joey Barton” is not a good reason to employ Liam Manning.

I’m not saying it would be successful, in fact it might prove you exactly right. But I don’t think Pep Guardiola could get us out of this league with our current setup. Maybe we should let a random season ticket holder pick the team every week. Or let LJ do it over Skype.

I’d love to see what Emma Haynes or Siena Wiegman could do for the rest of the season, but any success would be easily dismissed as “NP’s legacy” rather than a result of their ability, which we wouldn’t be able to prove or disprove either way.
