I think the only way that would happen would be if the deal was definitely off. If it is this close to being completed, Bournemouth won't let him play.

It's been fifteen years so could easily be forgotten but we pulled the plug on a deal for Egyptian striker Emad Meteb deal for that exact reason of him playing when he was about to complete a move.

I remember that deal. I was suggesting he might be in the squad if the deal fell through as opposed to not having been completed. If Bournemouth have come across a problem then he remains our player and if fit , should feature for us.

In hindsight, it was quite brave to play him last week, given how close the deal was. Might have been a calculated gamble on our part to say 'see, we are not that worried if he goes or not'.

I think it was a message of " He is our player and he will play for us until someone seriously shows their hand"., Maybe a bit of bravado but a significant message.

But nobody knows the details , plus that’s if £9m is actually correct . The only people who know are within the clubs.
Also, transfers are usually in instalments. Bournemouth may have offered a bigger upfront payment than before

I've  asked this before but not sure if anyone knew exactly. If the fee is 9mil +, does that 9 mil come off our debt or would it be just the 1st instalment, whatever that may be, that we could show in our balance sheet.?

No disrespect intended, but i disagree completely (i guess that's what a forum is all about).

We'd be attempting to 'raid' which ever club we could to try to get the best players we felt could help save our PL status - and we'd be trying to do it for as cheap as posible (or at least i hope we would).

I don't believe for one second there would be any sort of principles of honour or lost sleep from City for trying to take the best talent from lower divisions if we were in Bournemouths position.

In fact, i would prefer we did that (if it meant we could get the best players that improved us/could develop) rather than we spend larger sums of money on players in the PL/from abroad.

All clubs would do the same. That's just football and business.

I agree. After all, we raided Rovers and took advantage. No sentiment imo.

Could this not be detrimental to us? If Palace are only going to match Bournemouth's bid then this will just slow everything down leaving us less time to sign a replacement. If Palace came in with an improved offer that's different, but why would they.

Let's just wait and see. Anything can happen. We've been gazumped ourselves before so..........It's not over til the fat lady sings.

He was doing some interesting gesturing to somebody whilst the game was ongoing. Potentially to the Blackburn manager. What was that all about?

He was pointing out where their throw in should be taken from if its the same incident I'm thinking of. Their manager was moaning that the ref told their player to go further back. Looked lighthearted from Nige to me.

Shame i cannot have a bet...........because i am certain he will NOT be going anywhere near Bournemouth  ?

Personally I think that Bournemouth may well be the next club to go tumbling down the leagues. They are punching well above their weight at the moment. Even with wealthy owners things can go awfully wrong. Just look at Rovers.?

from the bits I’ve read it will work like SCMP / La Liga where it gets added when received.

So, humour me for a mo’ with an example:

£5m transfer profit, buying club pay in a single lump sum - £5m transfer profit added into that year’s income pot that is used for turnover.

£5m transfer profit, buying club pay 60% up front, then 2 equal annual payments of 20% - £3m added to this year’s revenue, £1m next year, £1m year after that.

    That’s how I understood it.

Follow that Dave but wouldn't the 2 outstanding payments count as money (debt owed)in the bank so to speak? If not, then surely we need all sales to be paid in full upfront.

What absolutely idiotic behaviour from that Spurs fan.

Overall fans can be much too quick to take offence when a player winds them up. Fans are willing to hurl abuse but don’t like it when players give some back.

But the behaviour of some players is idiotic too. It seems to have become a thing for players to taunt opposing fans after they’ve scored. I can understand it if a player has been on the receiving end, but sometimes it’s completely needless, Deeney on Saturday being a prime example. Similar to how players dive and feign injury. Pathetic.

A bit like Scotty cupping his ear to the Cardiff fans eh?  If its given and taken in banter , it's fine.

Quick question - if Rovers are such a tinpot club, why do we spend so much time discussing them. including their most recent game with Accrington? Over 3000 pages is a little embarrassing TBH.

If we were genuinely massive, as our players and fans used to claim ad nauseam, we would have bigger things to worry about.

    Just saying.

Look son, it's not that we worry about them. It's  just that when we have the occasional down day, you can turn to this thread and immediately feel so much better. They could be moved to the written or visual joke pages or we could start a football "joke club" page. But it's easy to access where it is and it is actually funnier than the joke page. Hope that explains it to you in simple terms. Now go and colour in your Joe Barton picture book.

  11. We have 2 players , Scott and Semenyo ,  who may both be with us the rest of the season.

Scott great,  because he's happy to stay here and develop. He will give 100% .

Semenyo, if he wants away will be less happy. Hopefully he still gives his best but if he sulks, neither him nor the club will benefit.

If we have to lose one now, it's Semenyo for me.
