It seems as if Naismith could play CB or LB in a 4, either CB or LCB in a 3 or as a CDM. That versatility in an individual should see us having greater ability to swap in game. If we start with him in a 3, we can just move him into CDM, drop the wing backs to FB and play a back 4 with a diamond in midfield for example. Or he can go to LB to allow a player like Benarous to play in front of him in a 4 4 2. Both Pearson and Gould said we want a smaller, tighter squad and that absolutely means having players with versatility. playing Dasilva, Scott and Weimann on the right or Benarous on the left wasn't so stupid as some thought.

His availability record is the main reason. And he'll be a permanent fixture in our 18 man squad given his versatility. 30 is not old these days if a player looks after himself, especially at CB where you run less.

1. I would copy rugby and have 10 minute head injury and blood substitutions. Any question of concussion or blood involved, off they come, sub on. Gives medics enough time to properly test if they're okay to continue and patch them up. Referee decides on blood subs, an independent doctor watching the game linked to VAR calls a Head Injury Assessment (Teams will cheat towards the end of the game). Player will have to wait the full 10 even if given the okay before coming back on. 2. If a sub isn't ready, the game carries on until the next break in play. Hate it when subs aren't ready and still need to put their shirt and shin pads on. WTAF. 3. like to see one competition (maybe Carabao cup) limited to playing squads of 14 with up to 10 substitutions allowed (rotated). Would add a completely different angle to the game.

Discipline is not the issue. Respect and values are. Plenty of these utter scumbags hold down jobs, keep fit etc. Things that need discipline. The problem is they think this sort of behaviour is acceptable, normal. That is the problem and it comes down to leadership, values, respect, upbringing.

From that article and the 3 peaps podcast with Tinnion, I got the very clear impression that Pearson is putting the soul back into the club. People seem comfortable in their skin and if any organisation has that it will be successful.
