  1. Almost as if they invest in their infrastructure rather than sell the profitable bits off to private, foreign concerns and let it rot..
  2. £150 ?? You want to ask him about his nasal habits Neil
  3. I hope Nige sits Alex Scott down and asks him about who would fit well for a season long loan here. Someone like Scarlett could be useful.
  4. Watching the game earlier, he'd be better at RWB than the 2 who've played there so far. Not got their physicality or speed but miles better on the ball and would link up well with Devine who is a very good player. We constantly gave the ball away on the right today.
  5. That's exactly what happened yes. The most composed player on the pitch.
  6. It's a total misnomer comparing Grealish or even Foden with Xavi. Xavi was a central midfielder. Foden and Grealish are attacking midfielders. What we do is favour 'beasts' over more diminutive, technical midfielders, like today with the 2 big lumps in CM rather than Scott.
  7. I would bring Scott on for Norton-Cuffy at RWB. We might hold onto the ball more. Maybe with an eye to moving him inside later on. He needs to be on the pitch. Clearly
  8. Quite smart. Foul outside the box. covering defender means it's not a goal scoring opportunity. If he stayed back he'd have allowed a shot.
  9. Kyle Walker was always one of those. It took him till he signed for Man City to be proactive. I don't think this lad is going to be anywhere near the level of Walker though. He makes runs with the ball into areas where there isn't any support, gets isolated and loses possession. He is struggling today poor lad. Trouble is it puts the coach in the position of 'Do I hook him and risk ruining his confidence?' but if you don't you are prioritising your perception of one individual's needs over the others.
  10. Someone to buy free kicks in the middle of the pitch and allow us to get up the other end....
  11. I'll go early. There is an obvious lack of calmness / skill /poise in centre mid. They are clearly targeting that area . Our 4 looks ponderous.
  12. Of course. We do tend to favour 'beasts' over more technical players though.
  13. It was terrible. Dawdling on the ball when it was time to distribute/clear.
  14. Quelle surprise. I hope we see him later on. The team is powerful but probably lacking the poise Scott brings. If the Italians have a bit of a cutting edge I think we could struggle. It did seem like we had a fairly easy group tbh and you'd expect the Italians to be a much more difficult proposition.
  15. Thanks. If the stadium is losing money for an event where you charge £5+ for a pint and sometimes sell up to 50,000 pints then there is something seriously wrong.
  16. So, one way or another Ashton Gate Stadium. Now, for FFP does the income from Bears games count?
  17. On 4, if I buy a beer at a Bears match, to who is the money going? Ashton Gate Stadium Ltd, Bristol Sport, Bristol Bears or an outside organisation?
  18. Absolutely. They know what they're doing. Ashton's 2 stooges have gone. There's a good familiarity there. Some new faces to freshen things up. I think we're going to surprise a lot of people this season
  19. He was also my PE teacher. Had both of his sons in school. Both were captain of the first XV and laughably his youngest captain of the football team despite not only being crap but also utterly clueless about the game. We also had Alastair Hignell as a Geography 'teacher' and obviously coaching rugby. Once earned myself 2 weeks detention by not appearing at a Saturday rugby match and watching us beat the gas 3.0. Happy days
  20. As the title below says, Brentford have appointed him as director of elite performance. Brentford appoint former rugby coach Ben Ryan director of elite performance | Brentford | The Guardian Background as a Rugby sevens coach. Shows that they have an open minded attitude that is clearly paying off. Some skills are transferable.
  21. Same as me Graham. Very odd individual
  22. The cuckoo is Ashton surely? Taking control of Ipswich's home as if it's his own. Preying on the vulnerable.
  23. Having watched the 3 games it seems to me that Scotty and Chucky are the main players but the team isn't really built to get the most out of them. I get that it's age group football and it's about development but Scott has played about 4 different positions in less than 2 games. They would do better with 1 bone fide holding midfielder with Scotty and Chucky as 2 8s and 2 up front. 3 5 2 basically.
  24. Wtf was going on there? England in orange managed by a Dutch woman. Holland in white and blue managed by an Englishman.
