He is in no way getting bored, in fact, with new training grounds for football and rugby and the arena expansion of Ashton gate, he is still fiercely ambitious. Buying and selling players for a profit and a top producing academy were a couple of the ‘pillars’ of the long term strategy several years ago....that is now coming to fruition. He can also see massive improvement on the pitch year on year.....we now have the best possible chance for promotion to premier league. Whether we make it this year remains to be seen but if we don’t, we are very much an established top ten championship team. something the bitter few can only wet-dream about

This subject raises its head every100 pages or so and I’ll never tire of dragging this info graph out..... from the planning documents for the revamp of AG showing city season ticket holders around the Bristol area (also consider we have probably doubled the number of season ticket holders since then). There is no north/south divide.....the city is red

Squiffy Because the latent potential and possible future rewards are greater for a club in our division and geographic location than for a similar outfit where there is already market saturation. There is also the opportunity to fine tune a new stadium development to maximise revenue which could be more restrictive and relatively more expensive at an established Championship club. I bet the output of a comparative spreadsheet would put us very close to the top of a list of potential high return investments in football.

I have to laugh with the use of the term "advanced stages with the council". Even if this takeover is happening, at this 'stage', the best you will get from the council is some warm words that they are "on-board" and maybe some pre-application discussions that would set out some basic parameters. They seem to forget that the council have never turned down any stadium applications of theirs in the past......they never happened due to the fact they were either pie in the sky and/or they never had the funding. None of that means anything to actually going through the planning process and building a stadium. For that you need money, land and planning permission......the 3 things they don't have and will have to go through the hoops to attain. As Waely has said numerous times "these things take time" and that's before you hit the inevitable bumps in the road like land ownership, local opposition groups and dare I tempt it, judicial reviews.
