He’s the remaining weak spot in the side for me. -

Liking Klose so far… lots of shouting and encouragement. Plus calm when on the ball… playing some lovely stuff, a second would be useful. -
Kept his back to goal for a change and kept his man in front of him. Needs to work on his physicality a bit, but that might not be part of his pysche. Interesting that their 1st goal came from him being off the pitch following an injury, might that have made a difference?

Agreed he looked bright when he came on, but I hope he’s not going to be one of those players that’s a slight over stretch from an injury all the time -

Not scapegoating as such, you’ve got to look at the keeper for both goals, as well as our ongoing inability to deal with physical teams upfront. -

Our inability to defend set pieces will remain our weak point. -

That requires 2 centre halves that don’t mind a fight. We’ve probably got half a one in kalas -

I hate losing to shit like this, just a bunch of lumps up front with long balls and set pieces -

Agreed, the defenders have to know what the keeper is likely to be doing in a set situation allowing them to focus on their jobs, if you chop and change the keeper both of whom have different characteristics then defenders have to have one eye on the keeper in any situation. Our defenders do need to be focussing solely on their jobs right now… -

How long before he pings the hamstring? Give it 10 mins -

Didn’t fancy diving to feet, it was there to go for. That said with that number of flaying boots in that small area not sure I would either -
Exactly this, the first 20 mins or so yesterday Fulham we denied space and time and we were keeping the ball, after that the energy levels seemed to drop and press faded away and we reverted to form not getting close enough to their midfielders and giving the ball away cheaply either through aimless longer balls or trying to be too clever. Give that midfield that much ball and time and they’ll tear you apart which is largely what happened. Mitrovich is going to be a handful and I would suggest given he has 27 goals already, nobody this season has really dealt with him, therefore perhaps the focus should have been preventing the ball coming into the box rather than trying to directly counter him. You’re wasting your time if you expect Vyner to win any sort of aerial battle, and if I see him facing goal again in the 6 yd box with no idea of who is behind him it will be one time too many. That was for me one of the puzzling selections, surely Atkinson would have been a better match to go up against Mitrovich?

No, the underlying performances of late suggest that a good run is possible especially with the games coming up. A decent Jan/Feb and we’ll be fine. Next season however could be problematic without improvement, there’s unlikely to be a couple of teams with large points deductions and those teams coming up, Sunderland especially (unless there is the standard 2nd half seasonJohnson implosion), could well be well set for Championship football.

He certainly has not found the correct combination of the resources available, we could do with a take no shit centre half, Baker could be it, but clearly concerns with the head injuries. -

I think Mitrovic was very cute, the first goal was a foul but disguised it well, the corner was clever by Fulham as they blocked off O’Dowda who was tracking him, and the 3rd came from him picking that ball up in a position you would not expect him to be in. I’d agree about Vyner, aerially he is poor, leaving Kalas with too much to do in that department.
