  1. 65 years a loyal supporters...and truly have felt NP was the best manager we've had in terms of overall insight into the problems faced and how to resolve them. Really wanted him to become DoF..who else have we got...Tins not the man even though so well respected re academy! Def wavering re season ticket next season though support will always be there..

Thanks Nigel for showing us real honesty, passion and commitment to the cause...so rare these days.

  2. 65 years a fan and really feel NP best and most all round manager ever. Don't care if he wrote these words or not..I seriously doubt that.

My support, in terms of attendance at least has been seriously challenged. Really wanted him as DoF...so suited to that role to sort our club out at last n bring it into the 21st century!!

Given Tinnion referred to the new manager as “He” about 25 times in his 4 minute interview, I am definitely ruling out a female appointment.

So you've been taken in by them having an idea of who they want!!

  4. The only way I would accept this would be if on a modest salary with big bonus if promoted...how much faith does he have in his own abilities to get us promoted.

No way long v expensive contract..want to be able to get rid of if he isn't successful.

I think he’s a decent manager.  I don’t think a guy that’s just signed a 4 year contract extension is gonna be coming here.  I don’t Cov will sack him either.

Decent maybe...end of. No confidence at all he has what it takes to get any team to the next level...just one of the many with none I'd chose to better NP.

  6. I cannot see why there is any interest in Robins... he's done ok at Coventry...but only OK...and now he seems to have peaked with them.  He's been a manager long time and hasn't really set the world alight...is a friend of SL...so....

  7. As a City supporter of 65 years one only ever lives with a small helping of hope and an even lesser one of expectation. Survival and doing OK is the most I have had to live with and occasional flutters of real achievement. Also seeing smaller clubs than us by far sailing into the premiership, having Euro games has been galling to say the least.

I know this has all been stressed a million times elsewhere but please excuse me..i also need to get it out of my system!!

NP I think has been one of our best managers in all that time and his sacking is one of the worst decisions ever made. At this point in time I realise comparing season on season it appears little or no progress has been made...but I also believe he has got to the point where his vision and plans for the future were becoming clearly established. It takes time to turn around the shocking mess he was given to start with. FFP issues stared us in the face...how much did he save the club financially (JL's job) by avoiding any points penalty n possible relegation as well as improving the clubs image in the football world. What would have been the cost of relegation. We the supporters are grateful...weren't S and JL?

Since then the football side has moved on...AS, AS ..key players were sold, even so we had a healthy start to this season...but for whatever reason we have got the equivalent of a full first team in the hospital wing whilst the academy has taken over the substitutes bench. It is obvious that with most players back and fit we could again be flirting on the edge of the playoffs and with, dare I say, a couple of good signings...or is that thought open to a charge of treason?

The supporters have been so let down..and before this decision was taken I don't think there has been a greater understanding of and support for a manager, apart from AD, as there is for NP...and all this despite our seeming lack of progress.

So yes, I am feeling hurt, disillusioned...Will I renew...I really am teetering on that one...coming 40 miles each week it has never really made sense...and at this moment seems completely a waste of time, space, energy and money. I've often thought I needed hypnotherapy to help me break the habit...now this crass decision may have saved me that expense!!!!!!!!

It makes no sense and the football world in general will have their views confirmed that City are a dinosaur in footballing management terms...and will be treated as such...

...maybe, just maybe they have managed to create a clone of Pep who is sitting in the wings to be announced today. The list of out of works has their obvious reasons and NONE give me any cause for hope.

    Is this my final disillusionment?

  8. I'd like to see him being given time playing more in the centre. He's the type of player good opposition can close down and out wide he's left with no space to express his skills.

Up front we are woefully weak and players are too far apart so we become very predictable...think with his skils where in the middle he can turn to go in to more space could see him flourish and bring more players into attacking positions..

My thinking behind NP not picking him is he has not shown strength and speed to get back and forth quick enough as necessary for the type of game we are currently playing. Hi press requires all players committed and able. Has he not been able to up his game enough in these aspects...?

  9. The obvious thing to do to reflect good management, cohesiveness across the club, to communicate with fans...SL and NP to have meeting agree a statement and present it jointly and publicly.

Why is this so difficult when both can clearly see how silence is so bad not only for the fans but the club also in respect of any future appointments or investors!

Simple really if people come out of their corners and behave with respect to all concerned.

I am horrified at how this club is run.  Absentee Chair, non existent Board, and tax avoiding owner.  Time for the Lansdowns to go after two decades of failure and now, judging from Nige’s comments, threatening the best manager I have seen in over 7 decades of following City.

If Nige is in effect sacked shall support Torquay until we have a new owner.

Hope Nige reads all the positive comments here.  Can’t imagine what a rough reception any replacement will receive.  Doubt anyway if Nige is sacked anyone with anything about them would wish to come here.

Get behind the best manager we have ever had, folks

I can still picture that injury v Stoke vividly. I was in line with it in the Dolman. What might have been. That certainly was the highs and lows of football in the space of 3 days - a starring role v Arsenal in our first match in Div 1 for 65 years, the winner, and an after match interview with Brian Moore on the Big Match on the Saturday, and then this on the Tuesday.

Could have written this myself...convinced we went downhill from that moment on...we never really recovered from the loss of him to survive the 1st Div....our time in 1st Div could have been so different...at least that's what I have convinced myself.

I also never wrote him off. Never thought he was as bad as people made out.

That summer that Pearson publicly said 4 players need to leave, he was the only one I was happy to keep.

Although I did think it would be better for him to move on at the time.

Never a right back though, at CB he’s continuing to improve almost every week. Pity he’s out today, think we’ll miss him.

    Out today...what have missed?

How many suitors will there be? I think he'll sell up to the first potential buyer that comes close enough to his valuation. If any do ...

I think he's been negotiating with a buyer for some time...and when our CEO arrived there was talk of him having contacts in the US. Probably why both are avoiding questioning at the moment.

Yes I am a conspiracy theorist but believe there may be something in this...as do others I chat City with!
