  1. May well have done! The expression of the young lass in the ticket office today suggests I may not have been the only one…
  2. Good result, turgid first half. Much better second! Conway very impressive!
  3. Bizarrely I was able to find last season’s cards but have totally lost this season’s.
  4. We both have our photocard driving licenses on us fortunately!
  5. Hi all, Much embarrassment - I’ve lost my season ticket before the big day. Can’t find it anywhere. Does anyone know what the procedure is these days for this situation? I’m assuming a trip to the ticket office and a fee is involved…
  6. This is only very tenuously linked, but I assume in women’s football, it’s either MVP or player of the match? So … when they’re being pressed hard for the ball from the blindside, what do the fans/players shout? Surely not man on… player on doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue… Forgive my ignorance - I need to get to more live games (and not televised WSL matches).
  7. I meant playing in to space behind their back line, though I’ll concede a lack of pace in our side makes this also a less than perfect strategy. I guess we have a difference of opinion, which is ok. I just think we’re trying to play on the deck, and when that doesn’t work we run out of ideas. Being able to go a bit more direct, at least as an option, seems prudent to me
  8. I don’t necessarily mean playing to Martin every time. We can go to the channels as the other option. I guess what I am trying to say is, we need a plan B and a plan C - plan A works for about 35 minutes… then the oppo suss us out!
  9. Can’t disagree with any of this. Good assessment.
  10. I still don’t feel we have the players to play a 90 minute possession based game. Mixture of ability not being there, and concentration lapsing at difficult moments. I would like to see us go more direct. Fwiw my personal opinion is I feel we look more solid and difficult to break down (often by virtue of not giving the ball away cheaply in our defensive third) when playing a bit more aggressively, and a bit more directly. can’t see it changing much mind. Pearson seems pretty set on the current philosophy.
  11. You have supported city long enough to know that cynicism should be the default position, not optimism ?
  12. Pearson was the reason I got my ST back (let it elapse when LJ was appointed, just couldn’t get enthused by him). I had really high hopes that we had appointed someone proven at long last. I think he needs more time fwiw… but I think some of the criticisms directed at him are valid too. Pearson in… for now.
  13. I want to feel pleased with a point, but can’t help but feel disappointed that another winning position was let slip. And that a dominant first 30-45 minutes was once again (perhaps we should expect it now) not enough to see us gain the edge in the match.
  14. Naismith seems a real oddity to me. He almost appears too lackadaisical on the ball at times. Like he thinks he has more time than he actually does.
  15. This. We do not have the players to play ‘total football’. We are not Manchester City. We look much more solid going more direct, rather than playing a possession based game.
  16. It really is. Still, I suppose the general trend towards younger managers with illustrious playing careers plays right into their marketing teams hands. I don’t seem to recall the same type of spin being carted out when we had the likes of Sammy Lee, Iain Dowie, Paul Jewell and Chris Hutchings knocking about.
  17. Ultimately, the players who succeed at the higher to highest levels have to have a ruthless (or even an outright nasty) side to them. It’s a shield against the type of criticism with which other players crumble and fade away. Some players even thrive off ‘proving people wrong’. Vyner doesn’t strike me as having that sort of mentality. Obviously I have a very restricted view, seeing him only once or twice per week in a 90 minute match. But from his body language on the pitch, and the recurrent nature of his concentration lapses, I don’t see evidence of grit, or determination, to overcome his weaknesses.
  18. I find it quite funny how the media/sky play off these former player rivalries to try to spin what will ultimately be a fairly run of the mill game into a spectacle of sporting theatre.
  19. I hesitate to use superlatives/clichés like “must win game”, but I do feel we really need something from today’s game. The cup result in midweek was excellent, but of the two games this week today’s is the one we need a result from to really start our season and build momentum. Head says draw, heart says city 2-1. COYRs.
  20. Yeah I bought a CD from one of the bands that performed in the fanzone once. Struggling to recall their name, but they had a 1950s aesthetic, female lead singer. They were very good, CD stayed in my car for a good few weeks after.
  21. I used to see this dude strutting through the Williams stand with a red hat, complete with feather and zoot suit and had no idea who he was. RIP - never met him or spoke to him. But was always fascinated by his feathered half-swagger half-stagger through the Williams.
  22. Probably turn mine into a photo frame. Saw someone had done this on Twitter. Seemed a good use for it.
