  1. I agree with most of your post, but I do think just because goalkeepers tend to be somewhat better at dealing with the back pass now does not mean you shouldn’t still try to close him down. Especially if it’s wet or windy.
  2. As per usual, you’re spot on. I have been crying out in the south stand for someone in our team to physically let their opposite number know that they’re in for a tough game. It is so frustrating seeing our half hearted attempt at a press. We stop 3 yards short of the man every bloody time.
  3. You’re spot on. FWIW I felt the squad began to decline with the bombing out of Ayling. Totally barmy decision if purely on the field ability is considered.
  4. Without serious investment in the squad it could well be a disastrous season. But as many posters on here are so happy to point out - we can’t because of FFP. Sod FFP, how about FFS that we have got to this point through total financial mismanagement under MA and LJ. Wasted millions on dross and bloated the squad.
  5. I 100% agree - we have average to lower end championship players, and some bang average league one players, making up our squad. The playing staff desperately needs investment but we are seemingly hamstrung by FFP ???
  6. After several glasses of Shiraz/Malbec it’s all the same to me…
  7. I rarely want to criticise Lansdown. However it is time for him to admit that we were mismanaged during the Mark Ashton era, and that our financial spending during that time was reckless for minimal gains. Then I’d like a statement from Lansdown, or Gould, of how we are going to crawl our way out of this financial fair play black hole, because without investment (blah blah blah ffp rules blah blah blah) we will not be a good or even average championship side. I am so angry that we finally have someone at the managerial helm with the experience and know how to steer a team to the upper reaches of the league, but we have left him financially hamstrung.
  8. The point I’m trying to make is that we wasted millions under Ashton & Johnson, and now we are stuck in FFP imposed austerity under Gould & Pearson. If only Pearson had have been given the finances that were so recklessly squandered under Ashton. So infuriating.
  9. Invest nothing in the playing squad (Tanner aside) and this is what you get. Absolute spineless crap.
  10. Yeah I think if we went down the “white kits versus” route I’d be pretty disappointed tbh. I love the variety, but also the history and traditions behind kits and club identities. To lose that would be a crying shame, but I do agree with you and think football in general can do better to avoid obviously silly colour clashes like red and green.
  11. Noooooooo ? I normally agree with you on a lot, but for once I can’t! I love the tradition of a striped/hooped kit and can’t help but feel a bit disappointed when the back of the shirt is just a blank white slab.
  12. Did seem a bit silly having red play green, especially a green and black kit like that. Adapting kits to help people who are colour blind is a good idea. I just hope it doesn’t take the character out of some of the kits. I didn’t really enjoy how so many games in this years euros (especially in the knockout stages) seemed to be white kits versus non white kits.
  13. I feel very sorry for him, but surely we can’t go on like this. We sadly may have to part ways with him if injuries keep occurring.
  14. We just weren’t up for it today. Not going to worry too much about it, but we do need to bully sides more/get a lot more physical.
  15. Meh. We gave them far too much respect. Nobody tried to physically challenge their opposite number/marker. They’re good, but we made them look world class. Another frustrating home performance.
  16. I don’t feel it’s overdone at all. But that’s just my view ?? Give me purple and lime over a dreary white and black kit any day.
  17. No real need to make a remark like that was there really? It was just my opinion, I have no idea on price brackets, only that I am bitterly disappointed we seemed to be financially hamstrung going into the season. That being said I am thankful that we haven’t “done a derby/reading”. Happy?
  18. We certainly are very frustrating to watch at the moment. Great one game, utter crap the next. We needed a proven striker at the start of the season desperately and we didn’t get one. We lack any cutting edge up front.
  19. I just don’t get it. Is he that good in training to warrant a place in the squad? I’ve seen nothing in his match day play to justify his place at this level of football. League 1 perhaps, but the speed of the championship game seems to pass him by weekly.
  20. Bakinson is not good enough. Gives the ball away, and a half hearted attempt to win it back. So frustrating.
  21. Bakinson and James does not work as a centre midfield pair. Do not think this is the way forwards, so glad to see us try something different in Joe Williams. Martin and Wells not quite clicking but I hold out hope they can form a partnership.
