NickJ
I've make payments to charity. I have a standing order with the NSPCC every month.Have done for years. One could be tempted to say that this revelation enables one to conclude that you are obviously no longer a ####, but a #### with a standing order with the NSPCC. But obviously one wouldnt say that because it would be breaking the rules of this forum. One might also be accused of being a mindless numpty. So, one will just say, congratulations Robbored, another brilliant effort to undermine the lads who have done so much to get an atmosphere going in the EE again. You may well have once gone in the East End, "in the 60's and 70's", but you most definitely were never an East Ender.

I'm not 'undermining' anyone. Just asking why the EE attracts those who feel it necessary to thump the wall ect ect, thereby causing damage. No I've never an 'eastender' I've never lived in London but I spent almost two decades standing in the EE but I'll admit not for the last 20 years or so. In all that time I never saw any damage caused either accidental or otherwise. I can't what your problem is.

It wasnt mindless vandalism, just the fact that the stand is getting on abit in years and the back of the stand probably needs some minor repair work doing to it anyway. redfred
This wasn't widely publicised by the club, so credit for that. http://www.bristolcityst.org.uk/trust_news...cle000518.shtml Silly question, but where were the stewards when this was happening? Surely they should intervene and remind the guys doing it that the metalwork is not there to be repeatedly whacked? I have read most of this thread and my opinion is that whilst i love the atmosphere the East End generates nowadays, the fans in there have to be a bit more savvy and realise that whilst their intentions are good, the implications of their actions are not so good. I.e Sir Steve pulling the plug on the EE again. I'm sure you guys in there can create a decent atmosphere without the banging and the like? God i hate sounding sensible. Radstock Red
Its sad to read such articles. As one of the EE originals from the 60's and 70's I can honestly say that back then I never ever saw our own fans vandalise their own stadium. Plenty of times I saw it happen away from home but never at AG. What gets into these mindless numpties? What attracts them to the EE? Yet again -talking utter tosh! There appears only one 'Numpty' around OTIB! -Mr closet Sag.

Mind you, i'm not one to talk cause i went to Wembley when Rovers played Huddersfield in 1995 (courtesy of an all expenses paid trip by a supplier) however i spent most of the game running the gauntlet of our blue few friends when i cheered like a loon when Huddersfield scored. I'm rather a large chap so they neglected to take it further, so i cheered again when they got their second!! Sh1thead w4nker was probably one of the nicer things that was said to me. I will admit too hanging on in the ground after the game though. I'd like to think that this admission doesn't rank me alongside old happy chops Robbored though. Truth is Fred, it was all expenses paid trip to the (then) new Wembley. All I had to do was drive the minibus up and back with my ticket and grub all paid for. Unlike some posters on here I have a number of gashead mates who I've know for years. The fact that they follow the Gas is neither here nor there when it comes to friendship. I don't care what team a bloke supports. On hols recently I met a Cardiff fan. Really nice bloke who we socialised with on a number of occiasions. All clubs have some decent fans and just because a guy follows a team other than City doesn't mean that I won't give him the time of day. The bottom line is that we all follow football and thats good enough for me. Peace and goodwill to all men, I say.

Our stories are identical apart from the fact that you DROVE a load of them up there and no doubt offered your congratulations on their victory. I however loved the fact that they lost and gave scant regard for the fact that i was lkely to get filled in at any moment due to me being the only one in the end of that ground cheering when Huddersfield scored their goals, and all becuase i hate that lot with a passion. Whilst some may say 'why go there in the first place?', i had that little devil in me that was loving the thought of being their if the lost, all expenses paid, but equally hating the thought of being there if they'd won. Thankfully i got the former. Don't get me wrong, it is only gasheads that i have absolutely no time for as i am good buddies myself with a Cardiff fan and a Swans fan (as far as local rivals go) and can have the crack with them. Unfortunately gasheads are so anal about our success and consider themselves to be the greatest fans in the world because their club has been so badly mismanaged over the years that they were forced to move grounds like a pack of theiving gypsies. This means that they make for difficult conversation and are not the most gracious peolpe in the world. So you are right, it is peace and goodwill to all men...apart from gasheads. 21. Marcham
Its also fair to say that City fans have vandalised the Dolman stand on a number of occasions as well as the Williams and many of these events could not have been accidents due to their scale. Also the side of the Atyeo, the H block if i must be precise, is also dented underneath the flag due to an atmosphere trying to be created. I'm not a fan of vandilism, but surely in the last ever game at AG before the move to "The Blackthorn Natch Stadium", seats will be taken home. I for one, would love to have the history of AG at my house!

What? why is it necessary to dent or damage the stadium in order to create an atmsophere? You seem to saying that its ok to cause damage as long as its not vandalism but 'due to an atmosphere trying to be created' I've never heard so much complete rubbish. Robbored
Who said they WANT to damage the stadium? You're missing the point Riaz. An atmosphere can created very well without the need to hit anything at all. There was a great atmosphere at AG against Palace in the play-offs but no damage was done at that game or other games that have been very atmospheric. Using 'excitment' as a an excuse as Edson suggests is borderline on the ridiculous.
