Have you not spotted the credit crunch? Football seems to be ignoring it, but it is coming! And we lost £2 million last year despite getting to Wembley, so imagine what our loss is likely to be this year!

You are not getting my point.... The credit crunch is going to affect every club in the country, so we are all in the same boat there. what i am saying is we will wind up having to buy another player to replace Carle who will probably cost what we balanced the books for and he wont be half the player for the money....

Incidentally, just saw the line ups and:

1) Why was Fontaine at left back and not Mcallister?

2) Why was Skuse in Central Midfield and not Noble?

3) Maynard and John does not strike me as a partnership that will usually succeed up front. Trundle and Maynard seems like it would be better, that said John did score, so you can never tell.

Selling Carle I thought was a bad move at the time and going on results this year maybe it was.

Mcallister was injured, as for the rest i agree with you.

3 goals in 7 minutes and we didn't trouble Ipswich so much, even after they went down to 10 men. :disapointed2se:

2) Missed a penalty in the last minute v Forest. We get precious few penalties as it is. 2 this season, whereas I think Cardiff have been awarded 11 so far.

The 2 points we lost with that one kick took us 360 minutes of football to get back (and another 90 have now gone by tonight without adding to that) :bruce_h4h:

And 'reap what you sow' - As evidenced by Leeds, Southampton etc.

Can't disagree with that, but the economy of returning to Divison 1 must also be considred. And all for bit of better planning in the summer the economics of the current situation could and should have been so much better.

I'm not talking about top six, yes I truly hoped and expected another assult on the top six but imagined that mid-table security could be resonably obtained. It was clear to me that we had to speculate to stand still, we did to some extent but not in the context of the whole shape of the team and squad. We have very little cover or more importantly quality is several key areas and it shows.

I won't argue that letting Carle go was a massive mistake, especially as it was not invested particularly well, and Carles' "non-replacement" has just been another midfield journeyman to add to the collection. I think GJ has blown the transfer budget, we are losing money, we cannot rely on SL for ever, we need to cut costs as we are likely to see a lot less ST renewals in the summer (Especially if we go down), and GJ has not spent big money wisely. So I think it will be Primark purchases in January!

Having a bad run is like the credit crunch. No one got a clue when it will get better.

Why are we paying fantasy money?

Because all others also are idiots?

That is now the BIG question. IF GJ is given the money needed will he spend it wisely? His best signing have been freebies and bosmans.

I have to hope he can becuase I would say three new faces are required.

Hmmm. Not a happy place to be here is it.

Have to say, congrats to Stern for scoring. Still don't think he is worth a contract, but, there it is; he will prove me and others wrong if he keeps notching, albeit, he needs to notch 4ish per game if we are to actually win !! :innocent06:

Anybody thing we need Akinde or Adebloa up front on their jack? Would be a shame for Nicky and probable tough on Stern John to get dropped after scoring, but, christ; we need to fill the middle of the pitch as it seems to be a knife through butter at the moment.

Ho-hum.

Your post sums up things very nicely.

Who blew the transfer budget? GJ

Who failed to replace Carle? GJ

Who has assembled a squad with only one specialist left back? GJ

Who is picking a team with no creative midfield player? GJ

Who has assembled a squad with no creative midfield player he can trust? GJ

Who has assembled a squad with no competition for either wing berth? GJ

The more you look at things the more you start to realise that GJ was too loyal to last seasons threadbare squad and as a consequence took his foot off the pedal in pre-season. And since the ink has dried on his five year deal the bloke has been pretty much unbearable - Steve Lansdown has made him untouchable in that even if the worst happens he will still be picking up dosh from us for the next five years and GJ knows it.

apologies if it has been discussed as just joining this discussion but anybody think our demise in this match to do with carey going off AND wilson coming on.... we were 1 up i believe at the time.

Orr out of favour, Carey off.. guess Gary had little choice.

We need new full back, right midfielder and,.. sorry to say but a proven goal scorer.... we do not have anywhere enough goals upfront despite spending big before season started.

the report said not ,Wilson was not at fault for any of the goals and i think Carey went of injured if you want to point the finger then it must be at Fonts and mcoombe as the deffenders down the left

I have also seen the goals on sky to back this up

I have said for a long time that we have too many players and too little quality, and if we have an injury crisis, we either use the loan system or stick an academy lad on the bench. Talking to supporters of other Championship sides, a number of their promising youngsters only got their chance due to an injury crisis, and were not the players expected to 'make it'.

The goals are on Sky Sport News in a couple of minutes (itss now 11.18 pm) First time I saw it looked liked the only player near the Ipswich scorer for the 2nd goal was another Ipswich player -will be taking another look!

Have looked again and there were 2 Ipswich players fighting to head that ball in the net - I think that we can assume that Carey might have been marking at least one of them when that ball came over.
