Well the obvious answer to that is that even though Haynes is only 21 he is already proven at this level!

Yeah, but to become proven someone has to give you a chance, right? Why can't we give our lads a chance at this level, I mean, Haynes has hardly set the division on fire has he?

Although Britain has a much much bigger problem with STI's than Thailand.

Cant imagine his wife would be best pleased....specially as she's gone with him.

great signing if the 400k is rumoured to be true.

A bit of a poor mans scott sinclair, very similar player with very similar atributes but possibly not quite the maximum potential of sinclair. englisha and young so almost guaranteed resale value whether succes or not

If hes coming as a striker we will have some genuine pace up front, if hes coming as a winger he is just as fast as Ivan but can finish aswell and has scope to improve further so great. Crossing could be iffy but that can be worked on.

Will give us genuine options to play 4-3-3 and 4-4-2, and with clarkson and maynard (and akinde/jackson etc) our potentailly ageing squad of last year now looks particularly fresh faced.

Hope it gets confirmed soon. this eremnko sounds decent aswell lets hope he impresses tonight and pings in soem ogf these trademark free kicks

Theo Walcott was moulded to play Arsenal's football, GJ and co can mould Haynes into a winger if he's to be used there.

Speed you can't teach, this guy is a talented footballer with real pace.

As long as he can 'adapt' to cross as well as dribble and score (which he can do already) he'll be class.

Great news, only a youngun, but we reaaallllyyy need that left winger now MM's on his way out.

Come on Gary, 1 or 2 more before we get underway in August and we've got a potentially revamped side with youth and experience in the mix

Can't get his interview to work on World

Have listened to GJ and he says sees him as striker to give extra pace up front. But is also on look out for another couple including possibly a target man - the club we have missing from bag though thinks Akinde is big presence up there. Is pleased with Clarkson, Manynard and Akinde after Portugal trip

Also thinks McIndoe will be gone in next couple of days - though Haynes is not his replacement as is right-footed and sees him more as striker

get in! great signing

now lets hope this left winger on trial tonight is top draw and if so get him signed up aswell

and the defender

Well hopefully both of the two players we've got on trial will be what we're looking for, not sure if they will though as it's not often trialists come through apart from Styvar and Basso really. If they are what we're looking for then that could well be work done for the new season.

hes looking at more strikers, and based on tonights teamsheet GJ had def got to be looking at playing 4-3-3 next season

eremneko could be mcindoe replacement, defender on trial could sign up, then IMO all we would need is a more experienced striker who can hold the ball up (not a big lump though)

Well, it seems GJ sees Haynes as a very quick striker or right winger. Commented on his enthusiasm for the move as well. It will be interesting to see how he uses Haynes to start off with, I suspect off the bench. I'm still slightly concerned that we'll end up trying to play 433 with no real width in order to play 3 in the middle of midfield but we'll see.

It was worth noting on the interview how GJ was very specifically pleased with "Maynard, Clarkson and Akinde" and how he was very pleased with the fitness and focus of all the players who went to Portugal. If that isn't telling you Trundle has no future here nothing is.

Overall quite optimistic about this signing, a young player with potential but also some good experience at this level. I'm surprised Roy Keane let him go easily, but then I suppose he'll be wanting to free up the wage bill so he can spend tens of millions on mediocre crap.
