We're pretty insignificant to the people of the south-west too.(Can't fill a stadium, take nobody to away games, Man U shirts on in every pub) In respect to signing a former international, Champions League playing, Uefa Cup winning, FA cup winning near enough £30m worth of transfer fees striker, we are about as small as they come. It's not about "support" I'd support the club in League 2. It's realism. Maybe if there was a bit more realism then we wouldn't have the "sack the manager" threads if we're not in the top half... These sort of sweeping statements do make me laugh. You could have said (but you wouldnt) a club that has taken 40,000 to wembley, or a club that on numerous occasions sold out away games and sold out AG. Im not an idiot and i realise the size of our club in relation to others across th UK and Europe. My question to you Jordan is what clubs across the uk do YOU think we are on a par with? This isn't really the point I was making. The attitude that a player of the unquestionable pedigree of Emile Heskey isn't good enough to play for BCFC is mental. We've had 3(?) seasons in the top flight in the last 50 years. Our most illustrious honour is a straight toss up between the Welsh Cup and the JPT. That, unfortunately doesn't make it factual. There is no way of proving who or what is a shitty little club, So neither of us can be factually correct on that front. That is an opinion where we differ. No facts involved. We obviously have history. Everything and everyone has history. The point however is, we don't have any significant history. We have never won the league (Runners up twice?) We have never won the FA cup (Runners up once) and all these "achievements" were pre-war... We have played in the top flight for less than 5 years since the war, less than ten in our entire history (I think, happy to be proven wrong on that front) If you compare our "history" to the other clubs, we'd be classed as having little to no significant history. So again, despite there being no real way of judging history, as it is all about opinion, No facts. Realistic chance of success. Define it? Another opinion... still no facts. But like you said... you're certain you're right... Must be so. David James would be an encouraging factor, no doubt. I think he would be a great asset too, BUT as others have said it would all depend on wages. cider head Posted June 5, 2011 Report Share Posted June 5, 2011 Heskey, it's all former, and he's a former for a reason as he could not sustain his form for long periods of time and then his agent moves him around for a signing on fee pay day. Sign him and we'll stay a club with so say no chance of success as he'll be a journeyman looking for his pension. We need hungry players looking to impress i don't think heskey is the answer. In the past though we did attract some decent international players regardless of if we won anything.
