Jealous. Somehow missed out on Bristol tickets.

Belle & Sebastian next week though.

I have Blur's new album to spin inhe car tomorrow too.

Heard bits of the new Blur album, sounds good

I saw B&S a few times 'back in the day', i.e. long enough ago that I can't remember what year it was, and I was generally a bit disappointed. Love their music though and I reckon the latest album will translate really well to live shows

I'm going to see a guy called Steve Gunn in a few weeks- has previously played with Kurt Vile and The War On Drugs- and he's great. Think he's playing in Bristol on the same tour

What ever happened to that music thread we had going on here with all the youtube links

it was quality? can we have it back, has it been archived or something?

I was looking for it the other day, but then noticed this message linked at the top of the non-football page:

Looking forward to Belle and Sebastian (not heard the new album yet though) - saw the Blockheads at the Fleece last week - they were really entertaining - better than I thought they would be

Thoroughly enjoyed B & S I have to say. Helped that they played many of the old favourites from Tigermilk and The Boy With The Arab Strap. Thought the new stuff was a bit hit and miss. I think it's fair to say that neither Murdoch or Martin are technically brilliant singers but that's fine and part of their charm - as a band they sounded great.

Funny when they grabbed some youngsters from the crowd to come up on stage and dance to The Boy With The Arab Strap. Kiddie on the far left was a proper geek - reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite!

Foxygen next Monday at The Lantern.

Glastonbury Sunday to be headlined by The Who, with Paul Weller too. Good for me - couldn't get tickets for the weekend, but got "local" Sunday only tickets. I was expecting the usual MOR stuff in the afternoon - didn't see this coming.

Glad you enjoyed it fella, you can't beat it when a band plays the classics at a gig!

I was at Live At Leeds on Saturday, an all day City centre music fest. Saw Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth which kind of ticks a bucket list band off, while Gaz Coombes (ex of Supergrass) was fantastic- his new album is very good. Best of all though was a young lady named Misty Miller; a bit Chrissie Hynde, a bit PJ Harvey, a bit Sharon Van Etten. Really, really good

Probably easier than I thought it would be.

I've gone on, which ten albums if I was on a desert island with a CD player, would I want with me.

1. The Strokes - Is This It?

2. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not

3. Sia - Colour the Small One

4. Kings of Leon - Youth and Young Manhood

5. Fugees - The Score

6. Oasis - Definitely Maybe

7. Michael Jackson - Thriller

8. Paolo Nutini - Caustic Love

9. Sia - Some People Have Real Problems

10. Jay Z - The Black Album

Anyone care to post their top ten albums of all time? Need some new stuff to listen to and top recommendations are normally a good place to look.

I've always thought this an impossible task, I'd probably come up with 10 different lists on 10 different days but here goes...

Ok Computer - Radiohead

The Queen Is Dead - The Smiths

Teenage Fanclub - Grand Prix

Kid A - Radiohead

Jeff Buckley - Grace

Pulp - Different Class

Sharon Van Etten - Tramp

Merchandise - After The End

Bloc Party - Silent Alarm

Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures

Not in any order and will have changed if you ask me again in a couple of hours. Also, I'd probably have squeezed another Radiohead album (In Rainbows, maybe The Bends... I might have squeezed another 2 in actually. Or 3; Amnesiac is also fantastic) in there if I didn't think it was excessive, because they're quite obviously the best band of all time

I'm running out of 'likes' for your posts today chip!

You are right, different day different list, but here's 10 for today:

The New Pornographers - Twin Cinema

The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow

Electronic - Electronic

The Gaslight Anthem - '59 Sound (a recommendation I got off here)

Arcade Fire - Funeral

Janelle Monae - The ArchAndroid

Sufjan Stevens - Illinoise

The xx - xx

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion

The Smiths - Hatful of Hollow

All brilliant from start to finish. Could've kept going though, so may do another 10 tomorrow

Why thank you sir! And you've made me realise I completely forgot about Arcade Fire and Animal Collective; Merryweather Post Pavillion is the definition if an album that rewards you if you give it time. It turns from absolute chiming mess to genius in about 4 listens

If you ever fly Air Canada, they have most of the New Pornographers back catalogue (and a good chunk of Broken Social Scene) in their 'Canadian Music' section of the in flight entertainment system, which was a pleasant surprise and a couple of hours of a flight to Vancouver well spent. I'd assumed it'd be hours of Alanis Morrisette, Bryan Adams and Crash Test Dummies

How dare you ransack my album collection, Kid. ;-)

Great stuff there as usual. I shall have to pick some other stuff when I have time.

I am sure that you love this music, and I am very happy for you.

Apart from 'The Smiths', I have never heard of any of these groups or their songs - and I never liked The Smiths!

Too right, top 10 is an impossible task, and likely what I would choose today would differ tomorrow.  That said, probably a few certainties whatever my mood:

New Order - Low-life

Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures

The The - Infected

The Chameleons - Script of the Bridge

Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions

The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses

Depending on my mood, offerings from The Smiths, Bowie, Radiohead, N.W.A,  Pixies, Cocteau Twins would likely feature.

As can be seen, I don't really "do" modern music.
