Silvio Dante
Down at the gate today for a corporate event and had a short ground tour. Interesting point raised by the guide, in addition to confirming trying to get the station opened, was that they have 32k capacity for concerts and are looking to put on "3-4" in June next year. With the bigger bands (Roses, Coldplay etc) already booking gigs for July next year there has to be someone lined up, subject to licence. Any ideas? (My guess: Kings Of Leon. Could sell apx that venue, although from a personal opinion, not that great after the second album - when I saw them in Swindon Oasis and they were fantastic. Shame what's happened since!) Mad Cyril
If they have any sense, they will get Mark Ashton involved. He is on fire for signings. Would not be surprised if we got a summer line up featuring the likes of Beyonce, Eminem, Bowie, Rolling Stones, Prince etc
gl1
Guns and Roses have reformed haven't they Mr Ashton (hint hint). Metallica would nice a support act if you can arrange that too.

Bristol Rob
Sure I read that Bros had reformed. And with Scott Davidson having previous in this area... Nah, it'll be Ronan Keating headlining with S-Club in support.

Admin phantom Posted October 14, 2016 Admin Report Share Posted October 14, 2016 S Club 3 - Like they weren't shit enough to start with Ha Ha Ha Many 2017 concerts are starting to be advertised now, so if anything is happening surely we will find out soon? (See Elton John was announced in the December http://www.bbc.co.uk/bristol/content/goingout/2003/12/10/elton.shtml ) Well this never came good http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/8203-ed-sheeran-eminem-justin-bieber-tipped/story-28474629-detail/story.html

Guest
For 32k capacity you're going to have to have 'big' names. Even someone local like Massive Attack would possibly struggle to fill that! Glastonbury headliners is a good shout. Daft Punk? I'm there.. Homer Simpson
Has to be ELO. Just played Glasto, would be a good warm up for their Wembley date next June. Also Jeff Lynne is a big BCFC fan.

Fiale
I am guess that you can just move the stage in accordance with the crowd size so any crowd from 10,000 to 30,000 would look comfortable... wonder how much the boxes would costs to watch from. would love to see Muse Foo Fighters Linkin Park Rammstein

I'm convinced they'll do a show for a few reasons. 1) They will sell the place out easily (1st band to sell out the new Wembo). 2) They specialise in outdoor concerts - look on YouTube. It's immense. 3) They did Glastonbury this year so won't do it next year. 4) They are west country Devonshire boys so we will have loads travelling up the M5 to see it. RedM
If the 4 concerts are rumoured then I think the club will try to appeal to all markets. Something for the teenagers, something for the oldies, something for the rockers and something for the Mum's, broadly speaking I saw Kaiser Chiefs at the Cardiff Cricket ground last summer, they were good. Saw Rudimental at westonbirt and Plymouth Crashes (on the Hoe) too. Just guessing bands that tend to play similar sized venues/outdoor concerts. Bastille are playing a Cardiff in a couple of weeks, so might not be touring again so soon. Anyone who is scheduled to play at Glasto is a good bet, previously both George Ezra and Kaiser Chiefs played the amphitheatre at Bristol a day or two before I saw them at Glasto. We've had Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams and Elton John, oh and Neil Diamond and The Rolling Stones, so doubt it will be any of them. If the Glasto rumours are right give me Depeche Mode, perfect! B*witched - sadly - are too big for AG. If it's only 32,000 for gigs it just wouldn't be fair on the countless thousands left without tickets. Madness would be a decent shout. Massive Attack would be a no go after doing Bristol this year.

Bristol Rob
To be fair Reg, Madness did the County Ground this year as well. Very few bands can or could sell 32,000 tickets. Not at a premium price. Any'd need to find a promoter who wants to risk their money in an untried stadium. Reckon we'll end up with someone who will sell 'the lower bowl and pitch' - circa 15,
