Andy Stockhausen made redundant.

Trinity Mirror keen to complete their long term transition to auto-generated national news stories and click bait.

Would that make him the last local sports journalist in Bristol or do you think they have someone else lined up?

Anyone?

Steve Cotton still covers cricket and rugby.

Youve got to wonder how much longer before the paper folds completely. Nobody buys a paper anymore we all read it online and the deluge of adverts suggests they need any revenue they can get

I'm genuinely a bit saddened by this because its quite likely there'll never again be a 'Bristol City correspondent' across local press, radio or TV.

This might not sound a big deal to many fans and people may well mock Andy Stockhausen (even I have done so in the past!), but it's actually really important to have people in his sort of position - Bristol City specialists, in essence - holding our club to account.

On a personal level, I hope he's not out of work for long as its not a fun thing to go through. And, contrary to popular belief, he's a decent egg.

Sad days. I know Stockhausen didn't do a lot of it* but any big city and serious football club needs paid journalists who can hold the club to account and ask the questions the club won't ask of themselves (see: Player). I know there's Radio Bristol but they're (rightly) invested more in coverage than accountability.

*there were occasional feature articles reflecting on City's progress against strategy, that he never really got enough credit for

I think you need to qualify that Tom. If you`re anything like me I just read it until that ******* survey comes up and then leave the site.

Don`t they think hundreds of people do the same?

Of the five floors in the post and press building they used to occupy they're now down to less than half of one floor.  The online platform is a shite experience and the content is being auto generated buzzfeed style.  It'll be pared down to a national network of bot generated nonsense interspersed with local bloggers in a year or two and they'll ride it out as long as the ads pay for the servers.  It's already dead and has been for some time.
