Andy Stockhausen made redundant.

I know people slag him off, but he had good inside information and was good to interact with on twitter as city fans. Now he has gone I'd imagine we will just have a generic sports journo, who's information will be very vague, and transfer sources will come from otib and Twitter rumours.

those of you that think that AS's transfer rumours came from otib, are wrong. The guy basically had a degree in Bristol City, he was a specialist, he had many contacts from inside the club and outside.

if anyone is against his redundancy, the only thing I can suggest is tweeting the @Bristolpost with your frustrations, maybe just maybe and I know it's a big maybe, they may reconsider their decision.

They've resorted to giving the Post away for free nowadays in town (at the Louie end of Prince St Bridge, is one point) so the end for the Post is only a matter of time. A shame but not unexpected in this age of instant news.

I can speak from experience that redundancy is no laughing matter.

Sad to hear about stockhausen. I've never seen so many city updates on the evening post website. Most was stuff we already new but still nice to see. Hope the next person is as consistent.

and.......RIP Mr Trump

(oh and that doesn't mean I want him dead....I find him very amusing )

I've been picking it up by the temporary footbridge near the M Shed: I attempt the cryptic crossword, but the city stories dont hold my interest beyond the first paragraphs, and haven't so much as glanced at anything else in it all week. It audited circulation figure must be approaching zero. Pity, loved it & the Green 'Un in the 70's. I'd sat rip but the reality is that it has been dead for the last 5+ years.

Local bbc radio going the same way: sound of the city, the friday & weekend sports shows are passable if you have an interest, and thats about it.

Bristol Post is dead and buried, they give it out now for free near the Debenhams Entrance of the bear pit.

He's been terrible at his job for years so can't really be shocked that he's now lost it, he's a dinosaur in a digital age.

Richard Latham still writes a lot of quality for the Sunday Independent.

And who'd have thought there would be so many Pro Hilary Clinton supporters on this forum.  Concerning that so many fancied the prospect of Nuclear War with Russia, with that war criminal in charge the future was terrifying.

Thought the dogging article the other day was good....

That's the same "pick up point" as me then!

If Stockhausen is gone then Bristol Post won't be around for much longer.

It's just become a news/twitter aggregate site.  Sad really, local newspapers and journalists used to be able to hold people like red trousers to account.  The days of real journalism are well behind us.

Whatever your thoughts on Stockhausen wish him luck, I'm guessing he did an almost impossible job towards the end as the walls crashed in.

I for one wish him well in his search for a new job, it's not bloody easy out there.

Back on topic. Although few people actually buy it or read the paper version of the Evening Post any more, the lack of any local journalists covering local issues be it City or holding our local politicians etc to account should be a major concern to all of us. In terms of what reporting there will be of the club at best it will just be rehashed club press releases. Will there even be much of a match report? We might only appreciate what we had when it's gone. That said the post had been bought out by one of the major groups years ago and has slowly been dying for a while.

When the only "news" people get is via Twitter or Facebook then we all have a big problem. God knows this forum can become an echo chamber at times, but when it comes to politics it can be so much worse and certainly in part explains the rise of Trump. As for the fall, it will come sooner or later, just hope he doesn't take the rest of us with him!

As for Mr Stockhausen, sorry to hear you have lost your job. Never nice & hope the family are ok. Good luck in finding a new post (pun intended!)

As much as he is a joke at times, hes a nice enough bloke!! Be a shame to see him go!! No suprise tho, the evening post is a dying paper surely!! Theres nothing in it anymore!!

Nice enough bloke? I think those convicted of drink driving are pretty scummy tbh. I don't care if he interacts with people on Twitter, that doesn't make him a decent person.

The fact is the day he got into that car under the influence of alcohol he selfishly put lives at risk, one if us could have ended up under his car, or our sons or daughters, would he still be a nice bloke then?

I don't wish anything bad against him but equally I have zero time for him.

He's now confirmed he was sacked.

Can the title be update to reflect this.

Convicted Drunk Driver sacked from role as a local sports reporter.

He's blagged a living for a while in a job that many of us would have loved to do.

Not Sympathy.

Personally, gutted.

Lost a valuable part of my Bristol City 'family'. Stocks occupied the middle ground between propaganda and 'news management' from the Club and the often hysterical postings (including my own) on OTIB.

The 'in game' news feeds and Twitter stuff were great.

Sad day. Thanks Andy for your efforts, much appreciated.
