reddoc Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Hi guys, sorry to bother you with this, I'm after a quick bit of contact advise. I was diagnosed with testicular cancer last weds and got neutered yesterday. Seems I underestimated the pain a little, and I'm a bit concerned that sitting for 90 mins plus on Saturday might be a problem, especially with the ups and downs of letting people past. However I'm pretty sure I'd be ok if I could lean against the walls/barriers around the vomitories. Fairly comfortable standing. I'm equally sure this would make me unpopular with the stewards. Of course I've got 4 days and may improve dramatically over this period. Therefore I'm wondering who I should contact to see if there's a way round this and not leave it till the last minute. I know I could just miss this one, but depending on results {mine not City's) could end up missing a fair bit later, so if I can go, I intend to. I did check the BS and BCFC site but couldn't decide which contact was most appropriate. No sympathy required (as if !) Eunuch jokes gratefully accepted. Thanks in an unusually high voice. Reddoc
Red Army 75 Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Sorry to hear your bad news . I would contact Adam baker or ring the ticket office. I'm sure they could come to some agreement. Obviously the upper tier could be an option plenty of room. But bit of a walk up there. Or an area which isn't busy. I'm sure they could sort something. Hope you feel better soon.
marmite Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Upper tier a good shout and aren't there lifts installed to access it?
Admin Phantom Posted August 1, 2017 Admin Posted August 1, 2017 4 minutes ago, marmite said: Upper tier a good shout and aren't there lifts installed to access it? BUT, apparently only being sold to supporters with "children" @reddoc Firstly and more importantly, sorry to hear your news and wish you a full and speedy recovery. Often people stand in the back rows of the lower Dolman section, as an example Row 12 below (Block E34 would be perfect for you)
exAtyeoMax Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Is it possible for you to go in the SS corner with singers/standers?
Bristol Rob Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Get well soon mate. @Mkelly who would be the best person for this chap to contact?
reddoc Posted August 1, 2017 Author Posted August 1, 2017 Thanks guys, Mark Kelly's already replied which is really impressive, so hopefully will have it covered. Having said that if I can sit in my lucky seat I will.
bengalcub Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 They have just open row one of the upper tier if your quick you could transfer to there get an end seat .
Septic Peg Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Hi Reddoc. I would definitely contact @AdamB and I'm sure he can find a quiet spot for you so you don't have to keep moving around. I wish you all the best with your treatment and applaud your humour at such a horrid time. If you can't laugh eh? Get well soon and speedy recovery.

Thanks Peg, as I mentioned above Mark Kelly's been in touch , apparently the club has a special blow up rubber ring for such eventualities, so hopefully sorted. ( He was actually much more helpful than that of course)

RiverRed Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Here's to a speedy recovery, Reddoc. I admire your sense of humour.

Richard Head Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Best of luck mate, i admire your black humour. Reminds me of a line in the Willy Russell play "Having a Ball" about "shooting blanks all over Lancs"!

Rudolf Hucker Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Blige - ménage à trois quatre. May as well have a street party.
LondonBristolian Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 The important thing to be aware of is your diagnosis means you have rights under the disability section of the Equality Act. What this means is the club have a duty to make reasonable adjustments so you can still attend the game. For intents and purposes you'd count as an ambulant disabled customer and they should be able to ensure you have an appropriate seat that works for you on request. More info here... https://www.bcfc.co.uk/fanzone/supporter-guides/disabled-policy/
Admin Maesknoll Posted August 1, 2017 Admin Posted August 1, 2017 Best wishes, my toes were curling reading about the neutered bit.... but if it means recovery then let's hope it's worked.
stawey Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 best wishes and thoughts to you raddoc get fit and stay strong
Lanterne Rouge Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Sounds like the club have acted quickly and have found a solution that suits so fair play for that. Get well soon fella - I hope if anything like this ever happens to me I can deal with it like you are, respect!

Actually overwhelmed and a bit embarrassed by the response, as without tempting fate , got a good prognosis and I'm luckier than most as I can ring a mate to sort me out. Was only trying to find out if there was anyway of standing rather than sitting for saturday as it's currently more comfortable. Bit old to worry about my rights, but I appreciate the thought.

There's a little rectangle of AstroTurf with some lines painted that is only occasionally stood in during a game. Have you got a pair of brown shoes? All the best on your recovering....loving your humour

Buy one and try before the game, pound shops might have them. If you feel a bit of a Burke carrying a swimming ring into the ground wrap it in a jumper and sit on that. Voice of experience here, no not the same as you but had stitches after childbirth! What a great attitude you have, positivity and humour can fight anything. Enjoy the game!

Great idea - but don't put the ring in a rucksack :-) All the best.

Worse than the labour pain... pillows, rubber rings or my personal favourite was a pillowcase with a pack of frozen peas inside, in the centre of the rubber ring... the relief!

Red M', I couldn't love that post more if I tried. Sadly my ball doesn't hurt cos it's plastic now, wanted something to waggle in front of the mirror. Pains lower abdo , thus pain sitting. Thanks though,
slartibartfast Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Get well soon , and keep your pecker up (if that's possible )

simon uk Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 All the best with your treatment. I had the snip in january, the first week was brutal but after 7 days it gradually eased off. Not sure if this offers any assistance or not, but gives you a possible timeframe on when you may start to feel better?
hoxton casual Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Best of luck Reddoc. What a great attitude and what a dedicated supporter.
